Microsoft is in The Last of Us 2 credits. Microsoft are selling servers to Sony for PS Now. Executives for all three go to ESA meetings together. Often in the same car. We should be driven to help gaming as an industry grow, for creators to take the biggest risks they can. When a great game comes out, we should applaud it, whether its for PC, or PlayStation or on a Switch. Spencers view on this isnt new. After all, hes spent the last half-decade moving in that direction, and thereby distinguishing the Xbox brand from the rest of the competition. The upcoming Xbox Series X is a big deal, but its no longer the only star of Microsofts gaming strategy, and its going to take some time for its fans to adjust. Microsoft is less interested in ruling a single platform like consoles, and more about bringing the Xbox to as many platforms as possible. The Xbox is basically trying to bring adaptability to games the way app users enjoy services. An Instagram user with an iPhone 5 from 2013 will still use their same account in 2020 with a newer iPhone 11. This will probably negate any benefit over the PS4 from the better texture filtering. MGSV is a particularly good example because it supports Pro but not X, running at 1440p on Pro but 900p on X. Typically, games that hit 1440p on Pro can easily hit 1800p, so it's a shame. Yeah this is my biggest issue with the Xbox One X and it's a shame it'll probably carry over to the Series X too. If they're stuck on Xbox One resolutions (not all games are Xbox One X patched) it's gonna now be at a locked framerate. Xbox One X Enhanced games often give the option of a performance mode. 60fps in cases like Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 and Hitman 2. Dunno about load times. Memory depends on the SKU I think. Outside of that Xbox One will still get games for the next couple of years and Game Pass is a pretty good bargain. So if you can get a good model on clearance it's a decent buy. Xbox One X is the 4k model and Xbox One S is standard. There's no unique games between them so it depends on how much you care about resolution. Games with Gold is ditched when Xbox Series X launches. Any outstanding Gold subscription after that period can be converted to your Game Pass type of choice.
