LOL do you have any idea how many government subsidies go to corporations only for their CEOs to get raises?
Corporate welfare programs shovel huge amounts of taxpayer money to corporations through inflated government contracts, subsidies, loan guarantees, etc.

There's over 150 programs that rich people leach off of and they are so varied and embedded that we actually grow up thinking that the government interferes with the free enterprise system, rather than subsidizing it.

Now the thing that irks me most is the fact that people will berate welfare people who get a stipend of food stamps etc yet they won't utter a word in regards to the corps who rob tax payers to the tune of billions every year,

I agree and there needs to be a limit on political contributions as well because at the end of the day the fat cats can buy and control the US Government which is what is happening now. Wall Street's too big to fail banks are playing games with people's lives and their life savings and that should not be allowed to happen but it is happening. With immense wealth comes immense power and influence which allows a handful of people to control all of us.

The 2008 financial crisis was knowingly and purposely caused by Wall Street shenanigans in which they engaged in very murky investments that they knew were high risk yet they did it anyway. That led to the downfall of Lehman Brothers meanwhile after the dust settled, Wall Street robbed the country and the citizens to the tune of $12 and a half trillion dollars and that included people losing their homes and in same cases their entire life and retirement savings and not one of those guys went to prison and to top it all off they even conned the Treasury out of $750B which they used for bonuses and vacations and why American's keep falling for this kind of crap is beyond me.

We are all sheep being led to slaughter if we do not wake up.

I wouldn't say a limit but I do think using your wealth and power to influence a government and politicians should definitely be curtailed severely. That's part of the problem in America today the wealthy have used their vast resources to hijack the political system and politicians and that isn't good for a country or it's citizens because sooner or later abuse will creep in especially in employment. There are countless well known employers today who commit wage theft on a grand scale and employees are powerless to fight against it.

Let's compare the records of Obama and Trump when it comes to health crises.

In December 2013, an 18-month-old boy in Guinea was bitten by a bat and died a brutal death a day later. After that, there were five more fatal cases.

When Ebola spread out of the Guinea borders into neighboring Liberia and Sierra Leone in July 2014, President Obama activated the Emergency Operations Center at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. The CDC immediately deployed CDC personnel to West Africa to coordinate a response that included vector tracing, testing, education, logistics, and communication.

Altogether, the CDC, under President Obama, trained 24,655 medical workers in West Africa, educating them on how to prevent and control the disease before a single case left Africa or reached the U.S.

Working with the U.N. and the World Health Organization President Obama ordered the re-routing of travelers heading to the U.S. through certain specific airports equipped to handle mass testing.

(((((((( Back home in America, more than 6,500 people were trained through mock outbreaks and practice scenarios. That was done before a single case hit America.)))))))))

Three months after President Obama activated this unprecedented response, on September 30, 2014, we detected our first case in the U.S.A. A man had traveled from West Africa to Dallas and somehow slipped through the testing protocol. He was immediately detected and isolated. He died a week later. Two nurses who tended to him contracted Ebola but later recovered. All the protocols had worked. It was contained.

The Ebola epidemic could have easily become a pandemic, but thanks to the actions of our government under President Obama, it never did. Those THREE EBOLA CONFIRMED CASES were the ONLY cases of Ebola in the U.S.A. because Obama did what needed to be done THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FIRST CASE.

Ebola is even more contagious than COVID-19. Had Obama not acted swiftly, millions of Americans would have died horrible, painful, deaths like something out of a horror movie (if youve never seen how Ebola kills, its horrific).

It is ironic because since President Obama acted decisively we forget about his actions since, other than the one case, the disease essentially never reached our shores.

Now the story of COVID-19 and Trumps response that we know about thus far:

Before anyone even knew about the disease (even in China) Trump disbanded the pandemic response team that Obama had put in place. He cut funding to the CDC, and he cut our contribution to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Trump fired Rear Admiral Timothy Ziemer, the person on the National Security Council in charge of stopping the spread of infectious diseases before they reach our country - a position created by the Obama administration.

When the outbreak started in China, Trump assumed it was Chinas problem and sent no research, supplies or help of any kind. We were in a trade war, why should he help them?

In January he received a briefing from our intelligence organizations that the outbreak was much worse than China was admitting and that it would definitely hit our country if something wasnt done to prevent it. He ignored the report, not trusting our own intelligence.

When the disease spread to Europe, the World Health Organization offered a plethora of tests to the United States. Trump turned them down, saying private companies here would make the tests better if we needed them. However, he never ordered U.S. companies to make tests and they had no profit motive to do so on their own.

According to scientists at Yale and several public university medical schools, when they asked for permission to start working on our own testing protocol and potential treatments or vaccines, they were denied by Trumps FDA.

When Trump knew about the first case in the United States he did nothing. It was just one case and the patient was isolated. When doctors and scientists started screaming in the media that this was a mistake, Trump claimed it was a liberal hoax conjured up to try to make him look bad after impeachment failed.

The next time Trump spoke of COVID-19, we had SIXTY-FOUR CONFIRMED CASES but Trump went before microphones and told the American public that we only had FIFTEEN cases and pretty soon that number will be close to zero. All while the disease was spreading, he took no action to get more tests.

What Trump did was to stop flights from China from coming here. This was too late and accomplished nothing according to scientists and doctors. By then the disease was worldwide and was already spreading exponentially in the U.S. by Americans, not Chinese people as Trump would like you to believe.

So I call BS on Obama being the culprit. Corona is all on Trump's watch or lack thereof!

Black people after the Civil War and especially during the Civil Rights Era have been yelling from the mountaintop in regards to the problems they faced in America so there needs to a come a time when people can sit down open dialogue without all the BS and start to make changes.

Until that happens, we'll continue to have issues.

Let's be honest here, the only reason the America and the European Union enjoy wealth today all started hundreds of years of ago beginning with one Christopher Columbus when he stumbled upon what is today Haiti.

Europeans began settling (stealing other people's land) that would soon over time be the backbone of enormous wealth and empires.

It starts with tobacco plantations and then it just snowballed from there. France took over Haiti and began desecrating the land and subjugating the people to cultivate sugar to satisfy European palate.

(((((((((( Haiti remains the poorest country in the Americas and the rest of the poorest countries in the world have been extracted and leveraged to appease the European Union region which remains one of the wealthiest in the world. This isnt because of some innate curse on Haiti. Its because its peoples, their labor, their lands, and their resources have long been embezzled without reparation.)))))))))

The insidious nature of the colonization of the Americas, which started in Haiti, not only terrorized the people who lived there at the time; it also created a system that kept (((((((( indigenous peoples in slavery or perpetual poverty,)))))))) while Europe basked in wealth.

America was founded on and built by slave labor and land theft and no one can argue that. Even today in America we can still see the brutality of those slave plantations in our current capitalistic system which preys upon people of color who work for minimal pay while doing laborious manual intensive labor. The blueprint for that was laid out on those slave plantations many moons ago.

The American political system, coupled with high initial inequality, gave the moneyed enough political influence to change laws to benefit themselves, further exacerbating inequality.

The inherit problem in America is and has been racism and no one can deny that. It all started in those colonies and when Columbus stumbled upon what is now Haiti, and decided to seize it and subjugate the Taino inhabitants, that started a chain of events that was disastrous for non-Europeans in the Americas.

Columbus began extracting resources from Haiti in what amounts to an early version of ecocide and then he began whipping Taino people for minor offense which led to ears being cut off, noses being cut off and hands being cut off for what amounted to minor offense. Columbus seized total control over the island and the Taino people and word got out to other Europeans and they followed suit in search of riches and resources.

Columbus was a murderous, enslaving, sexual-abusing, treacherous colonizer to the peoples he encountered in the Caribbean but he's revered today as the guy who "Discovered America" and most people do not the true story.

Columbus left behind 39 colonizers in the first European settlement in the Americas, which he called La Navidad, in present-day Haiti.

When he returned from Spain several months later, he found that all the Europeans were dead. That didnt stop him; Columbus practice of settling on other peoples lands in the Americas sparked the European imagination, and those lands would soon be the backbones of empires.

What followed was centuries of oppression to the human beings who lived there, and to the land they lived on. Spain cleared land for massive tobacco plantations, beginning a long process of deforestation and soil erosion.

After France came into possession of Haiti, it cleared even more land, and brought in enslaved Africans to cultivate sugar to satisfy European palates.

The first place Europe settled in the Americas also became the first place that successfully revolted against it but the destructive practice of monocropping for overseas consumption had already taken hold.

The wealth from resources like sugar, tobacco, and cotton ushered in the start of the Industrial Revolution, which began emitting carbon at an unprecedented record level.

(((((((((((( Haiti (and many other non-European countries today) remain among the poorest countries in the Americas and the world; the European Union region remains one of the wealthiest in the world. This isnt because of some innate curse on Haiti. Its because its peoples, their labor, their lands, and their resources have long been embezzled without reparation. ))))))))))

So there's a very ugly history involved in colonizing and stealing land for resources that people want to shove under a rug and forget.
