It's really hard to go back to wires.

I fully understand wired should technically offer better audio than Bluetooth. At the same time, you're listening on your phone; it's good enough.

Sometimes when I work, for background music or noise. When I take walks or whatever as well.
Same as I did with my ipod creative zen. Remember them lol? Your phone is an ipod but on steroids because of apps!

Samsung Galaxy line doesn't have them standard anymore since the s10 I believe. Maybe further back.

It's more of a problem with Apple but android depending on what brand you get it's a nuisance now too.

As I understand it, the only flagship phones to have a 3.5mm jack anymore are Sony Xperia 1 (but good luck affording that one) and ASUS Zenfone. Pixel, iPhone, Galaxy S, and OnePlus Pro have all ditched it.

I think the question is more that what makes wired headphones preferable to wireless. I couldn't imagine wiring headphones up to my phone again, I always use wireless or smart glasses. But I'm sure there has be reasons they are preferable and they just don't apply to me so I don't realize them. Only thing I can think of is charging but that really isn't an issue for me. I guess maybe sound quality is better too?

Latency is a very small part of it, but my friends seem to have more issues with their smart bluetooth devices connecting to the wrong thing or just not working periodically (think earbuds connecting to car instead of phone, or smart tv instead of computer, etc)

Granted, it generally only happens when they're trying to swap between devices or connect to something new, and the technology may be getting more reliable, but so far I've preferred to just not deal with it.

Separately and personally, my ears just don't agree with earbuds- they trigger earwax and get gross. I like noise canceling headphones, and those make more sense to be wired- they are expensive, and the physical tether prevents me from losing them!

I've been on the fence about getting wireless headphones in the future. It's impossible to have the perfect wire length for every situation, and it would be cool to be able to wander the house while still listening to whatever's on my comp

The LG V60 is a year newer, has an amazing headphone jack and goes for like $250 these days.
Shame LG shut down their phone division.

The headphone jack is so good that the phone could basically be just be used as an MP3 player and you wouldn't care.

Yeah when i first got bluetooth headphones i thought something was wrong because there was so much delay.

I had to talk to my little cousins that never knew any better to confirm it was normal and that they thought i was stupid for preferring no delay to no wires.

i got put on ignore but thought i'd come back to answer this:

the biggest problem for me is they're so inconvenient. now i have a little case i have to carry with me whenever i take my headphones out. if i was happy to carry a little headphone case around at all times maybe my wires wouldn't be damaged all the time, which is the reason i did think to make the switch! then there's the fact that they just don't stay in for prolonged periods of time, and mine always seem to want to fall out exactly when i'm like crossing the road or near water or other hazards, i am almost sure these things will kill me if i keep them for long. and it turned out the wire was a real good solution to that as like, a tether - never had to run back into the road to pick up my wired headphone. and then lastly yeah i just don't need my phone battery dying even quicker because now i have bluetooth on all day AND if i go on a trip I'm gonna need a second pair to swap to while these things charge. Just don't get how this works for people

BUT specifically to boko i was more wondering like, if he doesn't use headphones particularly often or something, because it seemed a strange way to put it. whichever style of headphones i am using, it's for like multiple hours every day of my life

I was kind of anti wireless too until I tried them. I immediately realized how great not having to worry about the wire running to the phone, having multiple times snagged it on something while on public transit and getting a bud ripped out of my ear. Not fun having to use tweezers to get the little rubber nub out of your ear

Very quickly went from cheap pair with wire between buds, to more expensive pair with wire between buds, to true wireless with Beats Fit Pro. The Beats have been great and the little wing tip keeps them completely secure even when Im running. Plus, having the case is actually a positive, as it keeps the buds clean from pocket lint, which was a problem with my other wireless and wired buds.

I completely agree that low end buds and most of the AirPods arent great about staying in your ear. Something with wing tips though will solve that. Ear wax is a concern too but thats an issue with an earbuds. You could always get some over ear cans, if thats more your style.
