I don't think there was much initial hype for the show (I know I wasn't really excited about it), so that's probably hurting it right now.

So what other heroes do you guys think will get the rated R treatment. Deadpool is confirmed, but do you guys think we see things like Blade or the MCU Punisher get that treatment?

I think Deadpool was grandfathered in, so to speak. They tried and failed to make him fit a PG-13 rating, no one would go for it. So their hands were kind of tied and they relented to keeping it R.

That's of course just the impression I got from it all, but it's hard for me to believe they'll allow any other character to be R rated. I'm still skeptical on how they'll handle Deadpool's vulgarity.

Werewolf By Night director says he went in with TV-MA in mind but was surprised to see it come back with a TV-14 rating, speculating the black-and-white style may have helped keep it there.

Isn't TV-MA similar in terms of rated R just for TV?

I guess violent superhero projects are having a moment currently (see The Boys and Invincible) but I really don't care to see a super-violent Wolverine/x-force film or a grimdark daredevil movie. I guess the exception might be Punisher, but I probably wouldn't watch a Punisher film no matter what anyway.

It's funny that you say that about Daredevil because the Netflix Daredevil show is so brutally violent that it's gonna feel really awkward if they try to take these same characters and dial it back to whatever the TV equivalent of PG-13 is when they come out with the new Daredevil series

right. this already happened with hawkeye to a certain degree. I imagine the Daredevil series will be a similar level of tone-lightening. as long as daredevil is good, then it doesn't really matter (in my opinion)

that being said it's going to be hard for the new show to be better than season 1 or 3.

Logan gained a lot out of its R rating imo. The brutality is something I felt Wolverine really needed.

But Dr Strange MoM showed a proof of concept that maybe pushing the envelope of PG-13 might be sufficient for super heroes like that. I'm not entirely convinced but I do think that most heroes (including Punisher) could do fine with PG-13

Just popping in to say I'm working my way through Phase 4. Just finished Loki (which I loved), but I'm not feeling Black Widow or What If? at the moment. So my question is would I be missing out on anything lore-wise if I skipped straight to Shang-Chi and caught up with the others at a later point?

if it helps, What If 1 is a bottom-tier episode since it doesn't do anything creative beyond "First Avenger starring Peggy"

ep2 is like the complete opposite and bombards you with a buncha big differences, ep3's a bit of a gag episode, but 4 is a top tier episode among all D+ shows

lore-wise though no nothing will be relevant to Shang-Chi... BW is for Hawkeye though.

Black Widow is helpful for Hawkeye but that's about it.

I'm fairly new to MCU, having watched Phases 1-3 for the first time last year. Imo the Infinity Saga was one of the best things I've ever seen.

Not being familiar with the comics, I don't know how excited to get for the new saga that culminates in Secret Wars. Do you guys think the saga is going to be as good?

I remember hearing that every episode was supposed to have post credits, im very disappointed that the last three at least haven't.

I feel like it's been 4 episodes now without post-credits. Last week I kinda gave up expecting, but this week I was hopeful, being the penultimate max hype Daredevil episode. Also Daredevil's presumably only in 1 ep, so a post-credits scene felt like the last shot at a little tease for him to said goodbye.

oh well S+ episode nonetheless, gave me absolutely everything I wanted out of SheDevil.... and I do mean *everything* omg, that walk of shame was perfect.

peculiar to think that originally the first episode was planned to fall after this one.
