I always thought loving desserts was normal, it was the best part etc

But I've met more and more people who don't really like sweet stuff at all and aren't into dessert.

What do you think?
And what are your fvourites?

I can take it or leave it. I like fruity or tart desserts a lot more than purely sweet ones.

I've come to find stuff that is too sweet (ie strawberry shortcake) to be a little much for me (although I still enjoy it, just VERY moderately). This might be because I used to be significantly overweight and started experiencing some pre-diabetic symptoms. I've gotten into pretty great shape and am no longer at risk for diabetes, but still, I vastly prefer more savory/rich deserts now like chocolate or something like a tiramisu. Of course, my biggest weakness will always be ice cream.

Not into desserts in general at all. Needs to be a 9/10 for me to enjoy it at all - 8.5 or below I'd rather skip.

That said there are some 10/10s that are just awesome. Tres leches, gulab jamun, a good gelato. But even with those it's like 3-4 bites and I'm good.

I agree with this but that's a very odd one to list as too sweet because strawberries are kind of tart lol

But yeah 'too rich' and 'too sweet' are both definitely things. I absolutely love desserts otherwise though if it doesn't fall into those.

Love 'em.

Lots of people seem to lose their sweet tooth as they get older, mine has gotten worse.

Still try not to go overboard with 'em cause of the whole bad for you thing.

I love ice cream. Cakes are fine. Cookies, it depends a lot on the type of cookie. Pastries I can mostly do without, because they aren't worth it to me. Sweets/candies I generally stay away from. Chocolates (esp. dark) are great in tiny portions.

I do enjoy chocolate covered fruits, though.

edit: I don't really care for biscuits, pies, gelatins, or puddings.

I still really enjoy desserts about as much as when I was a kid. As far as sweets in general, I've only lost my taste for candy in the sense that I rarely feel like it's worth eating, even if it tastes good.

But yeah, controlling portion sizes of desserts (along with other foods) was a pretty huge part for me of losing weight 8 years ago.

Also I love dark chocolate things and fruity things.

I agree with this general sentiment but Strawberry Shortcake is a very strange one to list for this and not one I'd consider too sweet.

Most stuff with frosting is too sweet.

I like dark chocolate a lot as well as coffee flavored sweets. Carrot cake tends to be pretty good. Also lemon cake. Apple and Pumpkin Pie are great. And vanilla ice cream-- I'm a weirdo and sometimes will just get vanilla at like Baskin Robbins.

super sweet frosting and soft cookie material, and certain types of cookies like chips ahoy don't sit well in my stomach. my tongue has started to warn me about them

but darkish chocolate, ice cream, pumpkin pie, pie in general, harder graham crackers or weirdly enough marshmallows i could eat forever. cake is good, the art/structured frosting can leave, though

my theory is our gut biome gets used to what we eat. i've known people that *only* ate poultry for years, and their body thought red meat was gross for a week or so when coming back. if i go a long time without eating sweet stuff i stop craving it and my tolerance for candy goes way down

as of now, i wouldn't say i really crave sweet stuff, but i do like it when it's there

savory is better tho

Banana pudding, cinnamon buns, fresh donuts, bakery fresh cookies, ice cream, and cobblers/fruit pies I enjoy thoroughly.

Candy, cereal, hostess snacks, pop tarts, and sugary drinks not so much.

Depends on the icing. Some cakes and or pies have too much sugar. I don't do fruit pies or anything with meringue.

For hard to digest things like meat that probably has an effect, but sugar is really simple. It just has a drug-like effect where if you have it often, you crave and need more. We're all wired to enjoy it at least a little though.

I probably eat too much dessert. On the other hand, I maybe have 2 sodas a month so maybe that balances it out some.

I usually don't engage with it too often, especially at like, formal holiday dinners. I'm just such a bigger fan of the regular meal food that I'd rather get seconds of that then eat any dessert.

I don't mind a few random things, like Apple or Pumpkin pie. I like a fresh baked cookie every so often. I like a cinnamon bun too but legit only eat one of those a year probably. I like vanilla ice cream. That's about it though.

I like baking and making them more than I do eating them.

I prefer savory/salty to sweet, but I'll take sweet dessert if its coffee-flavored/minty/lemony/limey/raspberry.

I used to love them as a kid but I basically never eat dessert as an adult. I still like the taste but I just never really feel like it.

But I'm also weird as I don't get enjoyment out of eating which it seems most people do? So I'll only eat when I have to / when I'm hungry. Eating is more of a chore for me than something that makes me feel good.

I love them, provided we're talking about straight sugar/chocolate and not fruity things, but I've also made a point in recent years to specifically target sugar in my diet.
