I hadn't thought about this but it would be hilarious if true. I'm imagining them moving away from their teen-oriented programming and wondering why their viewership drops like a rock afterwards.

Won't their viewership plummet even if the age data is accurate? Like, wouldn't their average viewer still be an old person who likes teen dramas rather than "normal" old people shows?

lol yeah, even if the average viewer is that old, if they're watching CW, presumably it's because they like CW shows. Getting rid of the CW shows seems like a good way to get rid of the average CW viewer.

I saw someone else say it may be the non-primetime stuff that a lot of the older people are watching like the Judge Judy re-runs or whatever else they have that isn't on during regular hours. Which, you know, still seems like a mistake to change up the primetime programming too since it seems like it's just two completely different demographics depending on the day.

This was the FOX strategy when they got rid of a bunch of shows (including Lucifer), and their ratings tanked for chasing the demo.

I'm just a person disinterested in discussing politics with Board 8. I have a different circle for that - and I also have a lot of political focus at my job. I'd much rather discuss this sort of nerdier topic here, since I don't have an outlet for that elsewhere.

With the Russo-Ukrainian war topic it exploded in posts early on then slowed to a crawl when the major advances of the war did. it still has far more posts than this topic does.

To be fair, this topic isnt just about one film. Rather there is more focus on the second biggest media company having an absolute meltdown.

The movie fucking murdered that brand in the public eye, and while John Stewart is my last choice of the big 4 that's still top of my interest in a DC project.

The best era of GL lends itself better to a long form seasonal series, but when you get down to it there's no way they'd ever pull that off.

I honestly expect them to retrofit lost exclusively Hal content into the plot of this thing even though it's Jon. I know Jon is the first GL most Justice League animated watchers think of, but he's definitely not the first GL most comic readers think of.

The Green Lantern movie was awful because it had horrible focus.

What they should have done was have had Sinestro teach Hal Jordan about becoming a hero and they eventually earn each other's trust. And then Sinestro takes Hal to his home planet and he realizes that Sinestro is a dick bag ruling his planet by fear and Hal has to overcome him. The fact it didn't focus on Hal and Sinestro's relationship is awful.

But anyway, a focus on Jon Stewart is... Kinda meh. I've found him to be the least interesting of the Earth Green Lanterns. I think they should have made a proper run with Hal or Kyle.

Hal Jordan is just about tied with Jon for last of the big 4 but as far as his actually stories go he's far above the king, it's not a competition. Jon Stewart honestly doesn't even HAVE a seminal must read storyarc. Kyle has good unique stuff and Guy has his irreplaceable role in JLI.

Completely ignoring their actual books themselves and going lutely on the lantern on their own, for me it goes (This) Guy (This) Gardner > Kyle > Hal> Jon. The idea that you could replace Hal with Jon, do the same big stories, and nothing really changes is the issue here.

Of course....I mean Alan Scott is better than all of them but let's be realistic.

I mean, that's why I suggested the Hal/Sinestro story because their dynamic is by far the most interesting story in the franchise. I like Kyle more than Guy, but I agree with everything else UE says. Also Jessica Cruz is rad and Simon Baz is a bore (also I can never stop laughing at him using a fucking gun with a Green Lantern ring).

The other key overarching story to do is definitely "The Guardians are the worst fucking guys ever fuck all of them (except Ganthet)."

Edit: Also my one problem with Guy is that he's just not as good on his own. He needs to be part of an ensemble. He doesn't carry shit.

This is definitely true. Any attempt to use him on his own doesn't have the chops to keep the jokes going since the character is completely grounded without any meta humor involved, so it inevitabley always goes to his rage issues instead, which is never good. Even in the height of Johns' GL topping the charts, that Red Lantern book of his couldn't stick it out.

The Sinestro connection is why Hal is still better than Jon.

Agreed on Jessica and Baz, though they're never going to give Jessica a solo so I doubt she'll ever be able to escape being a second ringer just like Baz.

I like Sojourner's mini series a lot, but she has made absolutely no impression anywhere else in the DCU outside of her own mini series, but it's still pretty recent so we'll see how they use her.

I have no doubt that Hal has been involve in most of the big storylines as he's the poster boy, but in every adaptation I've seen him in he's a charisma black hole

Barry Allen is boring and the greatest Barry Allen story ever told is one he isn't even in.

But oh hooooo ya see things have changed! They completely flipped the script about a year ago and now Wally is back in the prime seat is is the poster boy Flash for DC again, and his book is one of the best ongoing Superhero comics from either of the big 2! His wife is back, his kids are back, Barry is back to being a mentor, all the OTHER Flash Family members are alive again, the words!

Jeremy Adams is killing it on this thing and it really does feel like an apology tour for the shit Wally has been through.

That's good to hear. I am less tilted now. Shame about all the other Flash-related news happening right about now but hey, at least Wally's name won't be attached to that!

They didn't even put Green Lantern in the title of her book (Far Sector), so that's not too surprising.

It was pretty great though!

Everything they put Wally through was insane. New 52 is still insane in hindsight how half-assed all of it was without any proper planning. Just a complete knee jerk rebooting of the entire universe.

I like Stewart from the animated stuff Ive seen him in. Havent seen the latest GL animated movie, but I remember liking him in JL

Almost everything has been recovering nicely with Rebirth. Didio was set to guck it up again with some kind of "5G" reboot a few years later, but he got fired and that got replaced with even more cleanup with Infinite Frontier, which the current big event is building off of to, from what it appears, bring everything back to a pre- New 52 status quo, not erasing all the new stuff, but bringing it back together with the old. They don't seem like they're to desperate to fall slave to continuity MD are just going to do what they need to to get the books good. For example, the JSA is finally coming back as an established past and current part of the DCU, as it was prior.
