To be fair, it's not sarver's fault they didn't get it done past 2 years. Sometimes what you have just ain't enough. But like they do have CP3 for another couple years, booker should hang around, suns aren't out of it just yet even if CP declines some.

I'm not saying the past 2 years was his fault. I'm saying him not even attempting to keep with window open is his fault.

Will the Suns compete? Sure, but with an aging CP3, they need Booker to go nuclear in order for a championship. (Assuming if we lose Ayton).

Yeah, and that seems like the road they are going to go down. The problem is Suns will not be getting anything close to equal value if they go that route. It is the better than the alternative of getting nothing in return.

James Jones has done some done some killer moves to get us where we are right now so I'm just placing my trust that he will get something done.

Plus Booker and Kendall broke up, so maybe Booker will catapult himself to superstar status this year.

That's the one I would be down for! Suns still have Saric and other players we can plug if we lose Ayton. With the other Bridges we would still be pretty formidable. Cam Payne needs to get his shit together again though.

hard to say for sure, but there is a lot of chatter that poor chemistry did in the suns - and a lot of that poor chemistry/bad locker room presence came from ayton, presumably unhappy he didn't get his contract

the issue with a sign and trade for ayton is that there are very complicated rules regarding sign and trades which effectively mean that ayton going to the new team is worth the max contract but he only counts for half that salary going out for phoenix. so they can only trade him for either someone else getting sign and traded back (brunson, bridges, etc.) OR they can only receive like $17 mil in salary back for him.

And no team who's above the salary cap is allowed to trade $17 mil away and recieve a max contract player back, which means they have to send an additional $12-15 mil in salary away for free effectively to a team with extra cap space like Detroit, OKC, etc.

I see, I didn't know about teh half salary thing regarding SnTs. That does complicate it. But hey bridges for ayton counts!

yeah, it basically takes some teams like atlanta out of the running. they'd have to do something like capela for ayton and then send kevin huerter to okc for free which just seems absurd

The Celtics were basically drafting someone to play PG in Maine for a few years... but it's nice that they picked a high motor guy with a bad jumper and turnover problems.

I don't even get it from Clifford himself. He left the Magic because he didn't want to coach a rebuilding team. And now 1 season later he's gone to a team who is in a pretty similar position to the Magic.

Because of how the draft went for us the focus may be shifting from Ayton to Bridges as our big free agent target, but we'll see. Only Troy Weaver knows for sure.

Well, he's opting in to the last year of his deal, meaning at this point, if he wants to leave, they'll have to trade him

(Which was the only way this was going to go since no one was going to pay him what he's making on the last year of his current deal, but yeah)

Well the other fear was that he might opt in and just sit until they do trade him, but if he wants years on his next deal then it behooves him to play. He never had any leverage.

Bigger Brooklyn Nets disaster: the Durant/Irving era or the Garnett/Pierce era?

i'm biased, obviously, but KG and pierce at least had a signature playoff win and basically proved that they didn't truly belong as contenders against miami.

if this is really the end, then the KD nets have two signature playoff losses and were cut short by injury in all three of their seasons.
