people have been able to be awesome for bad Minnesota teams, Wiggins just isn't a #1 or #2

he's arguably the 2nd option these playoffs, depending on the series. generally the third option for this team though i'd say. and I agree that's a much better role for him. but certainly nobody knew he could play defense like this when he was stuck trying to be the first option in minnesota

well I was wrong. given the warriors' track record with close out games I like boston's chances on thursday. In game 7 though... it's a toss up honestly

Feels like terrible value for the Rockets, I think Wood is better than that but I guess he went nuclear so they had to get rid

I assume it's more the sense that he's a free agent next summer anyway and likely has no interest in re-signing for them. And he's blocking Sengun from starting / getting more playing time who is the guy they really want in the future.

So they were willing to lose out on some value on him just to be sure they could get a first round pick back in return. Even if it's the 26th pick.

Gobert has proven to be utterly useless in the playoffs, so I doubt that.

gobert is definitely not useless in the playoffs

Maybe useless is too strong of a word but teams have learned to scheme around him in a long series to where he's not nearly as effective.

I feel like the weakness around the team is less around Gobert and more that everyone elses defense sucks

like you just play around the perimeter and they dont have a good player to defend around there

i think getting christian wood and giving up basically nothing is much better for your title odds than gutting your team for gobert. reportedly utah wants a young star-upside player, salary filler, and 2-3 first round picks.

compared to more or less just the 26th pick and salary filler for christian wood who is miles more talented than gobert on offense.

even though gobert is legitimately in another world than wood on defense, dallas has a good team defensive scheme that worked well for them this year and i don't forsee wood singlehandedly ruining that.

if dallas can snag a cheap big man with good defense in free agency or on the market to pair with wood they should be in great shape moving forward.

I'm pretty confident in saying that at the very least, the warriors lineup of guards could heavily limit rudy gobert's impact on defense as they have consistently been able to do to every traditional center in the league (including Gobert himself). And Gobert isn't worth playing for his offense. most backup centers in the league have a better offensive game than him.

agreed. smart has been flopping all over the place and gary payton II has the most friendly whistle in the league for some reason. absolutely no clue how he draws a foul on every fast break

wow ESPN doing a list of all-time Finals Game 6 performances and they don't even acknowledge the time Tim Duncan should've had a quadruple-double against the Nets

zach zarba has been the worst ref for the celtics this postseason. 1-4 with him reffing. they're always called awfully too.

maybe tatum shouldn't do that take foul in the first quarter that he does every single game if he doesn't want to be in foul trouble.
