i'm seeing so many gross overgeneralizations with legitimately no basis in reality (see below). the userbase is probably the furthest thing from a monolith you'll see on any social media platform (if you don't count like, YouTube).

of course the world's richest man purchasing a social media platform for himself will be bad. there's simply no way he won't use this to (attempt to) improve his public image.

i'd also be shocked if he doesn't loosen the rules on harassment to make sure all the infowars/trump/libsoftiktok type accounts will have free reign. that will surely be a bad thing

For instance, making Twitters algorithm open source and defeating the spambots are in direct opposition. And if he actually eliminates all or most moderation on the site itll be end up being like 4chan (which the vast majority of users actually dont want, so it would eventually be reversed after trashing the site).

The actual reason that only giving food is worse than nothing is that it destroys local food production economies. Countries that are flooded with outside food lose all capacity to produce it on their own because the free food puts all the farmers out of work.

hes self proclaimed himself a lot of things. Hes definitely referred to himself as a moderate before and claims to not have specific party affiliation.

but he seems to go after people on the left far more than people on the right. Hes been antagonistic toward Bernie, and hes very into being anti-woke. Also he seems a little too into letting the free market solve things for a socialist.

Im not saying hes like alt-right or something, but he doesnt appear to be aligned with the left. Hes probably just a kind of standard libertarian.

For the most part yes. Very very small youtubers/streamers are probably fine, but almost everyone on those sites have issues

It's because he would unban Trump. They think because he does things that are beneficial for his company that it makes him right wing. He says it himself. He donates to both parties, moreso democrats barely, but he donates to both because (it is the cost of business in this country).

He is a huge environmentalist whose entire business is predicated on climate change. He was furious we left the Paris accord. Has stated many times he thinks direct rule and no government is the best rule (like lmfao how dumb). But, his business decisions are more right wing in being anti-union and such.

People don't realize that he runs a business and does what's best for the business. He can't change the overall means of production across the country through his own company.

fiscally conservative, thinks no actual government would be a good idea, socially somewhat liberal (but also constantly complaining about wokeness, which is distinctly a conservative talking point) sounds like a libertarian to me

but regardless of labels, hes pretty clearly not consistently politically on the left, so I dont get your confusion about politically left people having an issue with him buying Twitter. That side generally doesnt want the looser content moderation hes in favor of.

The left (or whatever they should be called at this point) are being ridiculous over this. If they are for censorship I don't know that they still deserve to be given the title of "liberal." Actually, there's no doubt, they clearly don't. What idea is more anti-liberal than censorship?
