Tentative date is Saturday Feb. 12. Ideally we would finish within the day with minimal wait times but its an online tournament so you know Coordination with your opponent for convenient times may be necessary.

The current plan is to have two separate tournaments (different card pools) running almost concurrently. All sets will be 2/3, no siding (because Master Duel lol) with double elimination.

Modern:
Anything goes (Master Duel Forbidden/Limited List)

Classic:
Card pool from Legend of Blue-Eyes to Flaming Eternity (2002-April 2005) [DM era]
Note that some cards have had their effects changed from the past (erratad)

If interested, state which tournament you are signing up for (can play in both). Post your Master Duel code if you have not already done so in the Master Duel topic (You will need to follow everyone in order to duel them).

Depending on how these go and what the interest level is, we can continue in the future with other alternative formats such as:
Pre-Pendulum Era
Classic Randomizer (get random pool of x cards from Classic pool to make deck with)
Rarity Lock (Rares or Normals only)
Archetype Assignment (roll an archetype to play with)
Etc.

Let me know if any of these sound interesting and what other alternative formats (if any) you would be interested in playing. Some of these would probably be more practical for DuelingBook because of crafting costs in Master Duel but everything is pending at the moment.

I suppose I'm up for both.

Any of those alternatives would sound entertaining, but Pendulum is when the game really started to lose me so pre-that would be interesting.

A no Extra Deck format also sounds reasonable.

I'm rather interested, but the only deck I have right now is the anti-fun RML Exodia lol.

I have about 7k gems that I can use to build something legit, but I'm not 100% sure what I want to run. I can try learning and building something this weekend, but if I can't finish it then I would rather not play on an incomplete or anti-fun deck <_<

I will just sign up for modern mostly because I spent most of my gems making a few archetypes and don't know if I have the patience to go build another deck while looking through all 1500 cards. I respect the committment in compiling all that information.

my bullshit will have me go 0-2 but I think I can try, probably just for Modern right now

in addition to the cards mentioned in the above vid, i went through the Classic Pool for some notable cards' rarities. bunch of old staples at lower rarities. i'm assuming that like me, people have an abundance of Rare and Normal craft points that don't see much use so it's definitely possible that making a deck won't be a drain on your resources for your "real decks"

I spent all of my resources making my modern deck, and my anti-fun deck isn't quite boomer enough (It makes strong use of Chicken Game and Cards of Consonance/White Stone of Legend for its draw engine) \_()_/

I can look into swapping all of the new cards for older draw engines but no promises.

We could make a truly awful format of "Only cards from Legacy Packs". I've got a couple hundred of those sitting around.

I dont even remember which ones came from there anymore.

i didn't craft any new SR or UR cards for my classic deck. 7 SR+ total and Judgment and the actually free Raigeki and Reborn. everything else is Rare or lower.

it's probably not very competitive if people were planning to go deep into it but i just wanted to play bad cards.

You can't dismantle any of them so I'm sure they're relatively easy to find.

I'm low on crafting materials but I'll see if I can put together something at least halfway playable, and if so, I'll join the classic tourney as well.

the legacy pack isn't only retro cards and the pool is still 3000+ cards though so i thought it'd be easier to limit to time format and as far as i know there isn't a 'legacy pack' filter

just did some checking and one of the cards (Zeradias, Herald of Heaven) in the classic deck i made actually came out later than the time i specified for the rules lmao

was using it as a sub for Terraforming since that's UR and also limited to 1. it truly was the dark ages.

well i already had another version made since i couldn't decide so overall it's whatever but lol

ok well i guess i can reveal i was planning to play a bad version of Fairy beatdown. so that's about the level you can expect from me.

i actually took it to ranked (just kept it the same but mashed Ash & Maxx C in it) hoping to match up with another boomer deck since ranked reset put me back at Silver. first game was against Eldlich which i of course auto-lost but the second game i went up against Blue-Eyes.

the first 6 turns we just set and passed until i finally just tributed a Mystical Shine Ball for Airknight Parshath. i accidentally clicked activate on the Book of Moon in my hand and was forced to set my Parshath. got like two cards off of Maxx C and then the opponent gave Deep-Eyes (target 1 Dragon in grave, gains same ATK) 300 ATK off White Stone of Legend and attacked into my Parshath (guessing he forgot or also misclicked) and then surrendered immediately after i drew my card off the effect lol

I immediately lose respect for a deck that uses Maxx C lol, sorry. Maxx C feels infinitely dirtier to me than Ash Blossom for some reason

Also I'm sure this was mentioned and I just missed it, but for the classic tourney, are we using the banlist at the time, or the current Master Duel one?

Some decks deserve to be Maxx C'd

I mean I get that, just comes from the disconnect of it being banned in the TCG irl but OCG Japan is wildin and lets it run free. So being a TCG irl player that shit is wild to me lol

the last time i played Maxx C was still legal so it's not new to me. but yeah it was definitely banned for a reason and SS's have gotten more insane with Links

it will be the Master Duel banlist because afaik there is no option for custom banlists. when you go to Create Room, it looks like there's a setting for it but there are no other options besides "Standard"

also you can't craft Forbidden cards.

You should coordinate a time for your match with your opponent but if you are in the discord, i will ping you if i see your opponent is ready and you haven't responded yet. if your name on discord is different than your b8 username, post your discord tag.
