Just need to craft 3 more UR's and my deck is ready for the classic tourney. Not sure how I'll manage to get those without spending some gems unfortunately.

My classic deck is definitely not degenerate in the slightest but is hella fun in concept.

Very likely to be less fun in execution up against actual tournament-worthy stuff

But it's a more optimized version of something I tried and failed (for lack of some cards - I never bought much, especially because I wound up getting a mountain of relatively trash/common cards for free around 2004ish) to run IRL

I played seriously starting in mid 2007 so I've never played the goat control format.

Super excited to be able to use some of my favourite cards from back then again though.

Meanwhile I was most into the game in like 2004-2005 or so (After getting aforementioned bunch of cards), then had a bit of a resurgence in like 2008 or so, and had some friends that dabbled in simulators during the synchro and early xyz era (2011/2012 or so iirc?) but I never got seriously into it then and just ran meme decks with them (Yubel, Simochi/Nurse and Blue Eyes were my favorites, lol) instead.

Never really played competitively because I couldn't spend real money on the game, but I went to a couple locals and had fun seeing more serious players at least.

Rules (Modern & Classic)
- 2/3 match, double elimination
- You may not make any changes to your deck once the tournament begins.
- Loser of Game 1 picks whether to go first or second. Whoever wins coin toss in-game for Game 2 picks according to what Loser of Game 1 decides.
- Report outcome of match in the topic
- Coordinate a time with your opponent to play your match. You will be given a match loss if you do not respond within 90 minutes of your matchup being posted.
- In the event of a disconnect, the disconnecting player will be given the game loss.*

Classic:
- Make sure all cards in your deck are in the Allowed Card Pool. All cards released in the TCG BEFORE The Lost Millenium (June 1, 2005) are allowed.

Hall of Fame:
The winner of a tournament will get to select one card from their deck to induct into the Hall of Fame.

the hall of fame thing is just for fun. might do something with it if we have tournaments for long enough.

You will be given a match loss if you do not respond within 90 minutes of your matchup being posted.

some clarification on this part. The "official" start of the tournament will be Saturday, 10 AM Pacific/1 PM EST. Please "check in" (basically post in topic saying you're around) before that time and coordinate a match time with your opponent. If you do not check in before 11:30 AM Pacific /1:30 PM Eastern (90 min. from start time) you will be given the match loss. Don't want people waiting around forever for their opponent to show up.

If you and your opponent agree on playing your match before that start time, it is obviously okay and would probably help in moving things along though.

For post-round 1 matchups, you will be given the match loss if you don't check in within 90 minutes of your matchup being posted (i will @ you here or on discord).

Btw do we send a picture or list of our decks to you just to make sure its consistent?

I have a classic deck, maybe. I'm debating. It's definitely bad, and it requires me to craft 6 SRs and 1 UR, but the UR is at least Feather Duster which I probably want at some point regardless. The SRs are the bigger pain. This game really inflates some older card rarities, whether in Legacy Pack or elsewhere, and it's really annoying.

Oh so can we switch decks in-between games or are we settling with the first deck chosen for the first game? I guess the latter with that no changes ruling huh, alrighty then

Not necessary this time around. I will just trust everyone to not cheat in a for fun tournament. But also as far as I know master duel doesn't have an export to text option so we can all take screenshots of our decks and post then once the journey's finished.

One deck for the tournament. Typically there would be a side but master duel doesn't have that option

If it turns out it's necessary I will ask for deck lists for future tournaments before they begin.

I cut down on one SR and made it. I'm sure there are decks that don't need specific SRs or even URs but pretty much everything I looked at required several. The one I'm going with was the least painful.

I wanted to play burn at first but I got mad at SR Just Desserts and dropped it.

Alas, a bad opening hand ruined my poor opponents chances for a proper rematch

i mean also i think there's partly a consistency issue with my deckbuilding + unfamiliarity? i've been noticing way more games in ranked where i've had "bad opening hands" and i don't see what plays i could make. can't blame bad luck all the time.
