Typical game plan for Invoked Shaddoll Dogmatika is
Ns Aleister(fetch invocation)>Almiraj>Secure Gardna>mechaba(invocation fusing Aleister+Gardna)>Aleister in hand via Invocation gy effect.

After that, ss ecclesia to fetch Maximus, ss Maximus by banishing Almiraj, dump Shaddoll Apkallone and bastard dragon, Apkallone searches Schism and dumps a hand card(preferably a dark), set schism, end phase, bastard dragon searches Fleur. Next turn, activate Schism for Winda (Apk + dark).

End board is one omni-negate from mechaba, one monster negate from fleur, and winda locks opponent into one ss per turn.

I faced a guy who also did exactly that yesterday, and his first turn took over 15 minutes.

Pretty sure he would've just ff'd immediately if I went first too, based on what he did/played, too, considering Domain Monarchs sole purpose is to shut down that sort of shit (But it can't if it goes second and the opponent does it on first turn)

I won a duel the other day I don't think I should have. I had Salamangreat Violet Chimera and one other monster on the field, whereas my opponent was playing Dragonmaids. I had the life lead because of a big direct attack early on, but my opponent had the advantage otherwise, with four monsters on the field, all of which had higher ATK than Violet Chimera, and Dragonmaid Welcome was also active boosting them further.

On my opponent's turn, the strongest monster attacked Violet Chimera. That's when I learned Chimera's effect of doubling its ATK in battle against a monster whose ATK has been changed also works when it's attacked. The dragon used it's negate effect on me, so I banished a Balelynx from my GY to save VC, and after using its effect, the dragon returned to the Extra Deck, with another House Dragonmaid tagging in. The new Dragonmaid attacked, and VC's ability activated again. This time, it wasn't negated, and the Dragonmaid KOd herself. The weird part is that, after seeing this, my opponent kept attacking VC with all of their other monsters, with the same result every time, resulting in me winning. I'm surprised they didn't attack my other monster instead, or try and get VC or Dragonmaid Welcome off the field another way.

I hit Gold off the back of three near-immediate scoops

First and third games I saw zero cards that gave me any indication of what they were playing - They seem to have bricked turn 1, and both ff'd when I got Domain + Erebus out on my first turn.

Second game I saw Dark Jeroid, Harpy's Feather Duster, and Monster Reborn so I still have no idea what deck that would be

It's possible I missed something or other. Basically I was playing against Blue-Eyes, attacked, and they activated Ultimate Creature of Destruction (https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/The_Ultimate_Creature_of_Destruction) to destroy any monster their targeted Blue-Eyes battles with. I had a card in my graveyard that I could exile from my graveyard instead if my monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, but it never triggered, and I feel like it persistently doesn't trigger in spots where it should. I don't know if it's because of how Ultimate Creature of Destruction works or what.

It lets you set it once more from your GY if you summon a BE monster (which you'd I assume then have to wait till next turn to activate it per trap card rules) to then get its effect again according to that link.

Also it just occurred to me that you might be talking about a different card that you could banish, do you remember what card that was? Cause I could see a situation where maybe UCoD is making BE immune to card effects, including your own card that you might be trying to banish to protect it.

Oh I just realized I misread the whole thing anyway, he is playing AGAINST blue eyes, I thought he was playing as them. Hmmm...the only thing I can think of then is that maybe your monster wasn't in the extra monster zone since cyberse specifies that, but otherwise I can't think of a reason. I wouldn't think UCoD would prevent cyberse from working since you're affecting your monster with an effect, rather than the blue eyes that's under UCoD protection.

Unless maybe it's damage step shenanigans? I know very few cards can be activated during the damage step, so if it's a situation where your monster wouldn't have been destroyed by battle, so UCoD's effect kicks in during the damage step when maybe cyberse can't be activated?

It might be this. Cyberse Synchron says it can prevent destruction by "battle or card effect", but TUCoD's effect of destroying monsters it battles is not technically being destroyed BY battle, so it wouldn't be able to trigger the first effect on that. It would have to be blocked by the second effect, which might not be able to be triggered during the damage step.

I have a question about UCoD and other cards like it, just generally. If you have an effect that does stuff after the damage step like that, but it would be destroyed by battle, and it destroys a monster by attacking it, it does count as being destroyed by battle right? Like it wouldn't somehow be the effect that "destroys after the damage step" would it? I'm just not sound on the timing of stuff like damage calculation vs the end of the damage step, and when actually destroying the monster fits in to all that.

Well, I guarantee my monster was in the Extra Monster Zone, anyway. I checked the text on Cyberse repeatedly before attacking since I knew what was coming.

I do also know that Cyberse works in a general case; I tried it against the Demise solo and was able to use it against Demise's effect.

Ranked is legitimately not fun. It's either you take your deck, get your combo off, and your opponent can't counterplay, or your opponent gets their combo off and you can't counterplay. It doesn't matter what deck you or your opponent is running.

Think I'm pretty much done outside of playing with you guys if/when that happens.

Letting them durdle would be more bearable if you could just put the game in the background till you hear them finish. Instead it's like 30 seconds before it threatens to kick you out.

I just really think the timer should be a lot less and both players should see it, it would go a long way towards curbing the immensely long turns.

Honestly I think if Ash and Maxx C were at least limited it would help the game a ton. They're both super braindead cards that are insanely powerful and essentially stop you from playing, especially if it happens when you're trying to break a board. The fact that majority of players run three of both is a problem.

I will say though baiting those cards out is super rewarding. I actually got someone to surrender Turn 1 after I got them to waste an Ash.

Alternatively, not punishing surrender would also do it.

Ash can absolutely be abused but it's more of a balancer/reactor card, while Maxx C is an initiative card. Using Maxx C just makes the rich get richer, so to speak. Ash actually gives the player a chance against the current state of Yugioh, which yes Maxx C also does in its own way but the way it does is much harsher. There's a Yugioh-tuber person that put it better than me but that's my general gist of it.

Yeah I do think Maxx C is more busted, but I like that you can at least try to strategize with it. Do you just set and pass? Or do you want to try and gamble? Maybe you can reach an OTK or maybe you just go for a special summon or two. With Ash it's just do you have Called? No? Oh well, there's nothing you can do.
