I dunno if I'm reading it wrong or what, but I don't see anything about being able to banish something from your GY to prevent your BE destruction. It lets you set it once more from your GY if you summon a BE monster (which you'd I assume then have to wait till next turn to activate it per trap card rules) to then get its effect again according to that link.

Also it just occurred to me that you might be talking about a different card that you could banish, do you remember what card that was? Cause I could see a situation where maybe UCoD is making BE immune to card effects, including your own card that you might be trying to banish to protect it.
