Oh a lot of streamers and youtubers built burn decks for the event as it's very effective for it since nurse was not hit at all

I actually got my first loss to Exodia earlier. Pretty sure the guy opened like 3 of the pieces, cause all he really had to do was get two of them into grave and bring them to hand.

Finished the rest of the packs, and I ended up with zero Tiras or Crooked Cooks and didn't check what else, but I got another Bounzer bringing me up to 7 from the event and now have 8 total, plus I also pulled 4 Adreus.

Is Crooked Cook actually good for anything besides Exodia Stall and similar decks?

Well, it's kind of a memey alternate win condition in itself. That's something. But I think it is basically the gimmicks like you're talking about.

Someone reversal quiz otked me during the event

I am officially undefeated in PvP play when XYZ summoning a monster

I halfassed a Utopia deck using the structure deck as a basis and threw a couple other cards in, went against a Galaxy Eyes/Cipher deck, where he had his Galaxy Eyes Cipher Dragon and Cipher Biplane at the cost of basically all of his resources.

I went into Utopia, killed his biplane, then Utopia Buster'd his Cipher Dragon in MP2 and he couldn't topdeck a response.

I'll take it.

So I'm kinda confused. I was playing against @ ignister and they brought out their boss monster with 6000 attack and it's immune to card effects. So I knew I needed Accesscode and needed it to use a Link 4.

So I had Shuraig (L4) and Kerass on the field, but it wouldn't let me summon Accesscode. I know after you use Kerass' Effect it limits the materials you can use for a Link summon, but both him and Shuraig qualify. Is there something I'm missing with Link summoning?

Link 4 monsters can only be treated as 1 Material or 4 Materials
Accesscode (like all link 2+ monsters) requires at least 2 materials and 4+1 is too much.

Ohhhh okay. I definitely remembered using Shuraig for that effect before, but I must've had three other monsters on the field when I did it. Well at least it's nice to know I didn't misplay there, because there really wasn't much else I could do there.

Link materials need to be exact
Link 3+1 monster = 4 materials for Link 4
Link 4+1 monster = too many materials for Link 4

Yup. Realistically, if you intend to play meta, playsets of Maxx C, Ash Blossom, Called By, Imperm and probably at least one or two Droplet + Dark Ruler No More are just too important.

Meanwhile, I'll just keep playing my Monarchs and hope I can floodgate sufficiently turn 1 and just die if I can't.

I'd add Nibiru in there in the list of must-haves as well. I finally got around to crafting them after thinking that they weren't as important, and I'm immediately winning a whole lot more games, especially when going second.

Oh, yeah, Nibiru is valuable too. Forgot about him.

Kaijus are great staple splashes as well to any deck that can afford them on top of that. I use Stormforth instead, but that can get negated and then I just cry.

Tri-Brigade is definitely way less cancerous than Eldlich! It feels like the least oppressive of the top decks.

If you're into fusion monsters and don't have an intense hatred of Shaddolls, Invoked Dogmatika Shaddoll is both a good deck and not too good that everyone hates it. It's also not too difficult to learn. I've also been having fun with pure Zoodiac, but that deck is more one note. It's essentially, "Get out Zeus and play 20 hand traps to stop your opponent from doing anything".

I might spend my new gems on a Hero deck. By all accounts it looks like a solid deck, and I have a lot of nostalgia for them. I think it might be expensive with all the extra deck stuff though.

i think i've seen around that Heroes might be like THE most expensively inefficient deck there is lol

i just play based on designs i like and learn the playstyle later. i'm going to look into making a penguin deck whenever those new cards come out and it's feasible

Yeah I'm looking at it now and I'll need to pull from 3 different secret packs. I think I might be able to do it? Having all the staples already makes crafting any deck slightly easier.

I also had to pull from 3 secret packs for IDS which was not fun.

oh yeah my deck (live twin) has like 20+ Main deck URs and its not that good (like barely fringe usable among usable decks) but it doesnt need that many in the extra deck. Heroes has like the same number of URs in the main AND the ED is like all URS.

I've dabbled with Sky Strikers and Phantom Knights, both are pretty cool and unique. I'm not good enough with either to give you deck building advice on those though. Prank Kids is also pretty cheap and is Meta if you wanted to look into that.

I think my next deck is going to be Noble Nights. They're very Xyz focused so I can use them during the event to get used to them a bit and then add their Link monster and such later.

Yeah, but the point is that Tri variants and Drytron are the top decks as far as I've seen. That's where my lack of interest comes from. My interest in Eldlich was just me being an ass.

IDS has intrigued me for a while though. Despite being a monarch player I don't have much against the Extra deck (Though I do rather dislike how it's gotten easier and easier to pull from it with each new type - Fusions were specific conditions/monsters, synchros only required a tuner + level match, XYZ only required matching level monsters, and Link has no such restrictions. Textbook powercreep)

Of these first two, I'm more likely to choose Phantom Knights only because I've seen more Sky Strikers and didn't really enjoy playing against them because they were all slow players despite not feeling like they were doing much. Solid suggestions though. I appreciate them

Well I had to spend a little bit of real cash, but I managed to actually complete the Hero deck with all 45 (it feels like) of the URs needed.

I now have no gems though!

I don't want to build any of the vaguely meta decks right now, but I wish they'd implement new sets more quickly because Swordsouls look awesome and exactly what I want to be doing. A primarily Synchro archetype of Wyrms and it's not a mess of cards changing zones? It even gets to play some Tenyi, which look cool, and Yang Zing, which I already know to be cool? Sign me up.

I am just waiting for the synchro event(?) to see what deck I need to build next

If the Synchro event is anything like the Xyz one, you won't need to build a deck at all to quickly get all of the good rewards.

Trying to learn how to play this Hero deck and it is way more complex than IDS, Zoo, and Tri-Brigade were.

It's actually 17 URs, not including the playsets of Maxx C, Ash, and Droplet, which I already had. So 26 total URs.

I spent about 11k gems, and got 15 of those 17 URs, either through opening them or dismantling. I'm actually still missing a 3rd copy of Faris and A Hero Lives, but I don't want to dismantle any good URs or spend more than the $50 I put into the game already, so they'll have to wait until more gems come in.

I do now have 750 SR crafting points, and that was only with dismantling extra copies and cards that will never see any play in any half-decent deck.
