fyi if you get stuck on anything that's timegated, rhapsodies will probably un-timegate it in the first few missions (specifically, the first chapter of rhapsodies). there's time waits associated with ToAU, WotG, and SoA that are brought down to like one minute each if you do some early rhapsodies. as another bonus, chapter 1 gives you one more trust slot and the first third of chapter 2 gives the final one

the only thing you'll have to wait for are some of ToAU's dumb "wait a couple game days before starting the next story mission" missions

fff yeah that's frustrating, it's already just kinda weird these Silver Keys are locked behind having your character 45 days old... dammit I'm ilvl 117 I want my stuff!

although I didn't realize during the returners campaign that there was a big exp boost campaign as well, it seemed levels were going incredibly fast and then I realized oh that wasn't actually the norm

RoV I did actually proceed a bit into Chapter 2 for the Rhapsody in Astral/Crimson items, I forget which one I think let you take trusts into the 75 limit break quests

yeah those events are crazy, you can get 1-99 in 2 hours easy if you have an echad ring charge available. especially if you get shantotto 2, robel-akbel, semih lafihna, teodor, balamor, or any other characters that do immense mostly unconditional damage

that's a chapter 1 one, if you haven't fought a level 80~ boss enemy in the jungle yet i'd recommend pushing to it for the extra trust slot plus dynamis and assault (ToAU) uncap

then once you've done ToAU and Promathia, push on to the last trust slot because the interim rhapsodies plot is mostly ToAU/Zilart/Promathia

full trust party is so satisfying and fun

I have a massive big brain regret of only getting the Echad Ring without yet understanding what Capacity Points where, not bothering with the equivalent yet

at least I'm pretty sure that was also available but I just ignored it for the time being not realizing it was a temporary offer ffffff

the CP one gets drained real fast at least, even when i was soloing. echad is so much value and makes levelling so fun. by the time you have enough of the expansions done to consider serious CP farming (because they all give a CP multiplier), the red kupo whatever for getting the CP ring will probably pop back up

promathia was a really solid expansion, but i do feel like people kinda overrate it (like with wow players and BC/WotLK). prishe and ulmia are gr8 tho. and it was better than zilart, which felt like a lot of filler (but kam'lanaut was strangely hot)

fav overall expansion was WotG but i'm in a super minority there lol

Big fan 'o Promathia so far at least, Prishe is A++. Really though it's just the first content that really feels whole and fleshed out, Nation 1-5 is a bit of a quick scramble between unique nation stuff with build-up leading into Zilart, but then the Zilart content still felt pretty hollow. I like Lion but it just doesn't feel like there's much there, and Aldo I'm more intrigued by a RoV scene I saw him in than anything else.

Promathia though has a pretty full cast of characters that all really shine out well, again to reiterate I love Prishe. I hate to say it in the case of Nag'mola since his design is so bland in comparison, but the Zilart Bros just really fall flat as villains.

so far though I'm kinda completely baffled how Shantotto has always been the face of the game despite being so uninvolved. Like yeah he's one of the original content cast but going by that there's still Lion who's quite clearly actually part of the stories going on. As a Windurst citizen though I've got Ajido-Marujido making Shantotto feel even more insignificant.

At least DFFOO is giving Prishe a BT weapon which are typically reserved for protags/antags (Shantotto got one ages ago, in addition to both Zilart Bros). I've done a bit of Wings which I'm excited for, Lilisette's got me sold but tbf I was already sold on her from DFFOO as well

prishe in dissidia is one of the main things that motivated me to even try ffxi or finish promathia! was really cool how gung-ho and crude she was in contrast with her holy aspect and smaller form

you might have noticed already but her whole rhyming shtick was also entirely a product of localization (a good product i think, but still)

she's aight but she's just like... there... occasionally? and for some reason she has a mini expansion to herself (probably the best one by far but still). there's like at least 15 other figures from the crystal war i thought were cooler (noillurie my QUEEN). and in comparison i only sort of knew who lion was from that ff mobile game

FFXI Update: up to Aht Urhgan 32 done now.... I guess it's finally starting to pick up a bit but boy is it taking its time and even then kinda whatever. I like Gessho, Aphmau's... alright. Naja Salaheem is a fun prick although sometimes can drag about since she's pretty one-note. Surprised Not!Trion really noped out for the most part.

I will say however this expansion does a good job building up the lore for the jobs it brings. I really wanna just use them and be like a COR/PUP/BLU throughout these quests but they're so far behind so eh... I did bring BLU to 60 for artifact armour just to look fancy for one cutscene with the empire though (... I already had it at 50 as a potential subjob option for my RUN)

... annnnd yeah it definitely picked up at that Mission 30 mark. Like yeah that was a lot to trawl through to get there buuuut alright I've grown attached to Aphmau - and I'm glad Naja Salaheem got a pretty great role in the end greater than her simple shtick. Decent story - I'm really glad I finished BLU artifact quests before the last few missions because it really clues you in on a few secrets of theirs that's touched up on. I will say tho Alexander is like a little baby summon compared to Promathia, but I really like the Odin design.

also Shantotto finally getting some actual presence, while sure there's also the Bastok/Sand'Oria counterparts, she definitely gets a lot more out attention here.

luzaf and gessho were my favorite toau characters

FFXI update: cleared out my stockpile of traverser stones, 6 Zone Quests done (all Vision & Scars maps). Story's barely a thing but I'm enjoying going around hunting NMs... except fuck Tahrongi's chain of NMs requiring combinations of pop-items that just weren't dropping for the longest amounts of times making me have to go back and forth (particularly hated going back for that far out-of-the-way corner for Efts with no good teleporters nearby). It was my 2nd zone so I was surprised everything else so far has been completely straight-forward, kill these 2-3 NMs only for the big guys.

Tahrongi boss was also the only one that was a toootal bitch, god damn phases of absorbing damage as recovery that I utterly failed at keeping track of. HP's just constantly bouncing up & down and the fight ended up taking me like 50 minutes because of it, by that point I was worried about my visitor's status wearing out. Most painful moment though when I got him to 10%, then (maining RUN) I stacked Gambit+Rayke ele-resist-downs before unleashing my 5/5 merit Resolution WS... only for it to get absorbed and bring him all the way up to freaking 30% aughhh....... but I mean yeah it was a fun tense fight, even while feeling pretty safe outside of time.

also Attohwa is just already an abysmal map I wasn't happy to return to.... but I also see Uleguerand Range has an Abyssea zone and fuck thatttttt oh god noooo that place is just atrocious to travel, not looking forward to that.

anyhow now that I'm out of traverser stones I should finally get back to Wings of the Goddess, left off there at... #7/54?
