Rarest: 1994 Blockbuster Video Game Championships II for the Sega Genesis. One of only a handful in the world (it was 2-3 a few years ago, though I think a couple more have surfaced since then).

Most valuable: 1990 Nintendo World Championship (grey edition). The last confirmed sale was a couple months ago, for $180,000, but that's much higher than historical sales, which makes me a bit suspicious. It's probably worth closer to $25,000 - $30,000 right now.

I think I have the winner here. It's something so obscure most of you have probably never even heard of the SYSTEM it's from.

Games Pac I for the HP-67/97

The individual games are on magnetic cards that you feed into a slot on the programmable calculator. There were two versions of the calculator, the handheld HP-67 and the desktop HP-97. The two models were functionally equivalent and could run the same program cards. They had 224 bytes of RAM. The 97 had an MSRP of $750 in 1976, equal to about $3600 today!

Hard to tell, because I don't have anything blatantly super-rare that I know of, so it's hard to just compare the relatively obscure games I have to figure out which one's the rarest.

Entity13 posted...
I think it's Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete?

Is it rarer or more common than Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete? I've got both.

Suikoden I and II are possibilities, they used to be proverbial rare games back in the day that would sell for a ton, especially when they didn't have updated ports on newer systems. But that might have been because the demand side of the Supply/Demand curve was so high, not necessarily because the supply side was super-rare.

For way more obscure stuff, I've got games like Koudelka and Echo Night, but I'm not really sure if they're rare or mostly just forgotten.

On the Xbox I've got Galleon - I have no idea whether or not it was especially rare, but it was definitely obscure even at the time.

There might be other games I have that I'm forgetting - I haven't really touched any of my PS1/PS2 games in years.

I found one copy of the Games Pac that went for $130 on Ebay.

I have some pretty rare board games that might be worth something as well. An original 1985 version of SolarQuest, and This Game is Bonkers! from 1978. No idea what they'd actually sell for, however.

The rarest video games I have for a system someone has heard of would probably be K-Razy Antiks, K-Razy Kritters, and K-Razy Shoot-Out, by K-Byte for the Atari 400/800. Shoot-Out was basically a clone of Berzerk and Kritters was an improved version of Space Invaders, but Antiks was something totally new. You were an ant and you had to rid your nest of enemy ants while avoiding torrential floods and anteaters. The game had a unique "life" system, you could lay eggs anywhere in the nest and as long as one was left when you died you could respawn. The enemy ants could do the same, so you had to destroy their eggs while luring them away from your own.

Probably Misadventures of Tron Bonne, or Mega Man Legends 2. I don't know which one they technically made less of, only that Tron Bonne is the more expensive game ($550 - $750 used vs. $100 - $250 used).

I think my copy of Frogger on the Atari 2600 is technically rare, like the game was common, but the version of it I have is rare (Taiwan Cooper version: https://atariage.com/cart_page.php?SystemID=2600&SoftwareLabelID=1706&itemTypeID=CART). That said, it isn't like it is expensive since no one cares about 2600 games.

There's a difference between rare and expensive. Something can be exceedingly rare, but if there's also no demand for it, it won't be worth a lot of money. Something that is more common but in very high demand (like Pokemon cards) will be worth more.

N64 Conker's Bad Fur Day! Actually had to buy because I spilled soda on the first one and it didn't work so I bought a second copy only to find the one that I'd spilled soda actually did work after it dried out.

I still have the second unopened copy because they wouldn't refund my money and there would only exchange the game for the same game so I was stuck with it.

Now I understand these games can fetch as much as $500 if it's in quality condition and it doesn't get any more quality than unopened.

I also have the NBA Jam game with Charles Barkley before they removed him from the game too on SNES!

Most expensive I have a loose cart nes bonk's adventure. 500-800 bucks loose depending on condition I guess. My grandpa got it at a flea market in a bad area for probably 50 cents. Along with a lot of other games. We used to get a ton of good stuff before every person on earth had a cell phone and looked shit up

Rarest I have is probably my la Mulana 2 kickstarter pc boxed copies of La Mulana 1 and 2 that say Kickstarter right on the box. I'll never open the shrink wrap on those. No one else will care about them but it's a treasure to me.

I don't have too many rare games. I would say the most valuable I have is a CIB copy of Fire Emblem for the GBA, which goes for $170, but that game was stupidly common and went for $20 forever. It is more demand that it is so high now with the whole retro gaming thing that is going on now

Technically, the rarest games I own are also worthless: weird, random old Commodore and Tandy floppies that no one cares about. Low supply, nonexistent demand. If I ever review them here I may have to add them to the database first.

Now, in terms of rare/expensive holy grails and whatnot, I do have a CIB Panzer Dragoon Saga.
