I wasn't going to watch the new show anyway.

But for the record, Kevin Smith DID lie about the show much like how a politician tries to cloak a provocative yet marketable agenda under the radar of voters. I get the validity of the outrage towards his dishonesty, especially his arrogant responses towards critics calling him out. However, while people screaming about Kevin Smith being an obedient thug for radical identity politics have credit to their complaints...they got his primary initiative wrong.

Kevin Smith has been a marketing shill for quite a while now. This is no different. His motivation here is likely less about his politics and mostly $$$. Although we'll never know for sure from his own mouth since he's a confirmed liar for pay.

Kevin Smith could have learned some valuable lessons from the Witcher series. In it, the most powerful non-sorcerer at the beginning of the series was arguably Geralt of Riveria and for the most part the story centered on him... And Ciri, his protege, apprentice, unofficial adopted daughter. Geralt was clearly impressive but the writers were able to grow Ciri into an impressive and arguably much more powerful warrior than Geralt without ever in the slightest diminish Geralt in the process. Geralt was Geralt from book one until the end of the series and Ciri was someone who was learning who she was through immense challenges, growing more and more powerful while still showing vulnerability. While still being able to show compassion and humility. It's probably totally unrealistic to expect Kevin Smith to develop a character in this manner though and he did something to his capabilities.

Rare He-Man transformation where you see He-Man call the power from beneath Greyskull and the power blowing past Teela and coming up to He-Man. This was before Kevin Smith ruined He-Man.

Here's the episode where we finally see He-Man transform back to Adam (9:41, if you're impatient and/or don't like 80s cartoons)

Just finished the fifth episode of the reboot.
It's...well it's alright.
I dont really care for Teela in the main role. Not because I'm seething that she's a woman (I loved Adora in the She-Ra reboot), but just because she's pretty damn unlikeable. I thought it was weird how they just kept killing off the heroes. Also really fucking lame that Skeletor wasn't in it as much, but I guess that he'll be in the second half of it so that's ok.

All in all, it's fine, I'll watch the second half but I'm not excited for it.
She-Ra had the better show in the 80s and she has the better reboot too :V

My issue is the dishonesty.

he could have called it Telas Quest or masters of the universe: the news generation or something and itd have been fine, the series is fine.

but he called it he-man to capitalize on the 80s kids nostalgia for he-man and then he pulled a switcheroo in the very first episode, not cool

yeah she is very different now. They tried to make her a sassy strong rebel girl and it comes off as too fake and cringe worthy.

she was already strong and cool in the 80s cartoon, so was she-ra. No need for I need to speak to the Greyskull castle manager antics lol

He-man is not front and center. He-man is underneath.

The titular character, Skeletor, the revealed master of the universe, is the front and center character on the Masters of the universe: Revelation poster. He-Man is clearly beneath him. Where he belongs.

It's common to place the heroes center and villain above them as it suggests the villain's role as a looming menace.

Yeah, you're gonna need to give me a minute to work up some bullshit for this one. I mean obviously, he-man is going to be the main character and make a massive hard comeback with the rest of this series, but we both know that's not what I'm here to do. I'm here to gloat for the bad guys before a massive, obvious, and deliciously crunchy yet fortified with vitamins and minerals comeuppance that's part of a nutritious well balanced breakfast.

Although off the top of my head, a skeletor cereal would have obviously had marshmallows in the shape of villian heads and been vastly superior.

How the fuck didn't I immediately come up with this?

But wait, there's more.

Battle cat is clearly both behind, and in front of he man with the bowl. A he-man sandwich. Eternia crunch begins, and ends, with battle cat.

I have no problems with the show itself and I'm actually happy it focuses on Teela because I like amazonian warrior women, but Kevin Smith has been a complete moron in how he's handling it, including straight up lying to the fan base, even right now after its out. He's telling them the sky is purple when its blue. I just don't get what he's doing, its like he's lost his mind or something.

Yeah Kevin Smith handling of the marketing for this show was poorly done. Felt like a bait and switch from what was shown in the first trailer.

With that said i did enjoy the show for what it is. Teela was okay, but just really unlikable but i wasnt 100% against the direction with the show.
