I wouldn't be too surprised. There have been some weird crossovers in the toylines. Like the Ninja Turtles becoming Universal Studio monsters or pro wrestlers becoming G.I. Joe characters.

That was never shown nor hinted at in the original series. Adam has muscles because EVERYONE had muscles/was basically the exact same body type and that had to do with laziness of the creators, not plot related reasons.

Well they also had the same facial structure too. But either way, it wasn't due to in-story reasons.

Man I guess it really was all about the toys. Keep every character the same as possible and you can basically just re-skin the same action figure for all the big characters besides Shera and battle cat.

Adam was forced to pretend to be the lazy screw up to protect his secret. Its like Clark Kent pretending to be clumsy or Bruce Wayne pretending to be a playboy. But Adam was always, at his core, the same heroic character as He-Man. Thats why he was given the sword in the first place. The new show just completely doesnt understand that. Like I said before, the episode where hes in heaven completely undermines his character in every way. Adam never would seek a reward, would never hesitate in giving it up, and would always answer the call of people in trouble. Here, Adam isnt hiding his heroic personality, he straight up doesnt have one. Like I said before, when Grayskull said, this is your reward Adams immediate response should have been, I never did it for a reward. Instead he just sort of wanders through the portal like, oh geez.

Clunker is talking about Adam's character here, not whether he had muscles because he could fight. Adam is Steve Rogers before the supersoldier serum. He was given the sword because of the strength of his convictions and his character.

Adam wasn't given a character arc in this. He's a set piece designed to failure so that Teela can succeed.

It is a stretch to think that Adam is going to just be used as a way for Teela to become the next Champion.

I mean, she basically got owned the entire series beyond finding her spirit against the weird Skeletor-Esque thing in Hell. She is constantly saved by other characters and works best in a team. The whole concept of He-Man is he is basically a fucking tank and needs nobody.

I think the core moving forward is likely to see Teela become the new Man-At-Arms and coming to appreciate her place in this world, not to become THE Hero. At least IMO.

Then actually make a statement instead of all this diversionary bullshit. Clunker has made the case that Adam was character assassinated. He provided specific examples. You said that's just his interpretation, but apparently your also not saying he's wrong. Kind of hard to actually talk about whether the show is true to the franchise or not when one side won't commit to any actual position.

Honestly it's kinda hard to say since he was never in any real mortal danger before (and certainly never died before.) The 80s show was VERY simplistic in it's writing.

Also Adam's character was never assassinated. The dude was killed in the line of duty and he went to heaven to spend his time with other heroes. The original Greyskull even told him that it is OK for him to lay down his burden.

Adam has never had ANYONE around him who understands the burden of being the hero. Don't begrudge him for going to heaven and maybe being OK with just letting the world go on without him. He didn't even know the world was in jeopardy. He thought he saved it all and did the job.

It's not all that's important, but it would be a valid criticism from people who were disappointed by this adaptation if they grew up with the original and for a show that markets itself as a direct sequel to it. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposition, and nobody gains anything by trying to frame it that way. The show having legitimate flaws does not make you "wrong" for enjoying it.

I'll see if I can find any examples of Adam himself doing something in the old cartoon.

Just stop. The show was marketed as a sequel to the original cartoon. It exists in the same continuity. The Adam in this show is the Adam from the old show, so if his character is different that's a flaw in the writing. Stop trying to twist a basic fact about the show into some weird personal interpretation so that you can hand wave it away.

It was a fantasy you cooked up. A better time that never actually existed. Fanfic. Headcanon. All to make yourself feel smarter for having figured out the lore and themes of a fucking commercial.
