Lol. There is no season 2. This was supposed to be a limited series for the fans. It was supposed to be a series aimed at the adults who had kept the franchise alive. Thats what Mattel wanted. But they got suckered by con artist Smith.

Theres an entirely different He-Man show coming to Netflix thats aimed at kids and bringing in a new audience.

They mean part 2. It's a 10 episode season and only the first five episodes have been released.

Not specifically talking about He-Man, but I've seen this sort of language and implication used in a lot of fandom stuff over the last few years, and I've always wondered do the people who talk like this think they sound healthy and normal?

You saw it a lot with stuff like TLoU2 and TLJ where people got really angry towards those properties and used language like "for the fans" and implying the creators were dishonest, evil, or corrupt, and that "they can't be forgiven for what they did"

like who talks like that

The implication is that sometimes studios use nostalgia for free marketing by drawing attention to an old franchise, causing people who have fond memories of that franchise to talk and spread the news out of excitement, only for the studio to pull the rug out from under them and have the property be nothing like the thing they were looking forward to.

I get that you're trying to be super disingenuous here, but not everything is some grand conspiracy among people who disagree with you.

Most people should not be trusting anything Kevin Smith claimed, he sold out a while ago and he is no longer the man he once was.

Knowing how he is no one should be surprised that there was a shift in who the main character is now, and for fans of He-Man they should know that this was going to be wrong as Hollywood is pushing politics and PC material.

The show is called "Masters of the Universe: Revalation", and the synopsis on Netfilx is:
After a calamitous battle fractures Eternia, Teela and an unlikely alliance must prevent the end of the Universe in the sequel to the '80s classic
So I don't know what else people were expecting from the show.

This isn't even technically true, it's not a sequel to the original show. Netflix doesn't have the rights to the original show, just the franchise. Which is why the character designs all had to be tweaked and they don't really directly reference specific episodes. And why none of the original music is in the new show.

Yeah rather watch the 2002 heman show, better characters, writing, animation story. So much better. The early 2000s has some amazing underrated animation shows. I guess kids were too swayed by the emergent gaming market?

Hes right though. Smith has been doing this for awhile to make money. He worms his way into fandoms and pretends to be a super fan in hopes that studios will take notice and hire him for that project. This usually consists of him posting a video literally crying tears over some part of the franchise. Im surprised he never worked his way into The Flash after that video of him crying over Barrys mom went viral thanks to Honest Trailers.
Congrats on being the first person to understand I was bashing Kevin Smith for his bullshit not whatever other conclusions people jumped to.

Kevin Smith used to be an actual fan but now hes just a fake fan looking to piss off actual fans with bullshit like Batman pissed himself.

A year and a half. 39 episodes.

I watched the first... six or so? Fell off after that. Not saying it was bad, but I can't say with confidence it was good, either.

All that can be true and it can still be a sequel.

In theory, any story set after the events of the original can be considered a sequel.

Yeah but the show was really only on the air for two years (84 and 85.) By the time 86 came around the show was dumped to like 7am in most markets. Most kids shows dont last past the 2 year mark. It just seems longer because youre a kid. Two years is a significant chunk of your life back then. Hell, in reality G1 Transformers only lasted about 3 years.

Somewhat off topic, I think this show might be the subject of the most successful ratings bombing ever performed on IMDB.com. The ratio of ratings to reviews is almost 10:1, which is absurdly high - the extremly popular Mandalorian has less than 100:1 - and of course, the reviews themselves are largely negative and seem to say the same thing. This is also reflected in the ratings themselves, as the show has a score of 4.8, with 33% of the score being devoted to ratings of 1. Even The Last Jedi didn't get trashed this hard - likely because Masters of the Universe isn't really that mainstream of a show, whereas Star Wars is. To illustrate...

They want to piggyback off the goodwill earned by a brand in its glory years to sell now. When they do that and make changes to the brand people don't like it. They likely bring in new fans no doubt but those fans of the original are looking for more in the vein of the original. When they don't get it they voice their dissatisfaction. It need not devolve into a philosophical debate built on stawmen, name calling and character assassinations. The fringe rarely make up the majority of a viewpoint but that's who gets pushed to the forefront because they're assholes and branding everyone an asshole is a lot easier to cope with than having a discussion.

It's no different than going into your favorite restaurant for your favorite dish and the menu is all different. You might wonder why they wouldn't just create a new restaurant for these new ideas? You may even like the new ideas but here and now you were really craving that burger they were known for and they don't serve it anymore. Some lunatic came in right before you and spit in their face. So because of that they tell you to fuck off, because you're that person too. Because a common taste means a carbon copy mind, motivation, ect.

These studios are really lazy. There aren't enough new ideas presented. No one goes to McDonalds for a Big Michelle and no one buys a Detective Comic to see Cat Man clawing up Batperson. Maybe it's best to leave the past in the past and present fresh stories and with new characters for modern life? That may be the answer but that's not easy money.

My thought on this has always been "Just make it good".

Your food comparison doesn't really hold because these aren't made to replace the originals, just try their best to continue the story.

Them deciding to make GhostbustHERS or Ghostbusters Junior does not mean I'm not allowed to watch the original anymore.

You're allowed to eat your burger again but it might taste like shit.

I personally don't rewatch things over and over and over. For people who do, that's great, no judgement. Enjoy what you enjoy, I just rarely have the motivation/excitement to revisit. Probably revisiting 80's He-Man would be a major letdown. Seeing modern He-Man in adult situations seemed like a cool idea though and it was cool for those two minutes of screen time. I wanted more from the first five episodes. When people think Masters of the Universe they tend to think He-Man and Skeletor. If you could dig up sales on toys from the show in the 80's it was likely dominated by He-Man and Skeletor. Anyone who thinks this a woke accusation is free to think whatever they want but they miss the mark and are arguing with themself at that point.
