I mean they're cosmetics, that's kind of the point. Some people will see them as a waste of money, others will be willing to front the dough to look what they think is cool.

I defintiely wouldn't pay real money for cosmetics and I don't really care about heroes that much, but something about the card backs tempts me now that I can spend ingame currency on them

I wanted to get the pity legendaries for the new standard and wild packs, but I wanted to open up the fewest packs possible so I decided to buy all of the packs individually until I hit each legendary instead of just buying 2x10.

I think everyone can make an educated guess how many trips I just took through the shop screen. Talk about an exercise in futility.

Hm new classic deck of choice is just Miracle Rogue, its so much faster than I expected just because a 5 mana Auctioneer with prep and conceal means the game is over in 2 turns and the aggro matches you just play for tempo and race them with cold bloods/edwin

My last two games (Control Warrior vs Priest and Control Warrior vs Rush Warrior) were 28 minutes and 22 minutes respectively. My previous 10 games before those playing Elemental Shaman were about 50 minutes in total.

Why would anyone play 50 minutes of Control for 2 stars when you could play 10 aggro matches in that time? It sure doesn't feel good but I don't know what a better solution is because you obviously don't want to encourage every game to take 30 minutes.

I mean I did enjoy playing those matches but if you're actually trying to rank up then it just doesn't make any sense. Maybe having ranks is the whole problem because it makes you care about winning too much.

Decided to start going for some of the achievements today, and apparently Paladin is going to be the class that gets the annoying achievement each time around. Oh My Yogg drove me crazy last expansion, this time it's going to be one that requires you to use the Party Up spell that summons five 2/2 guys, and you need to summon four copies of the same one. My ranking in wild is going to go into the negative stars.

I must be missing something in Battlegrounds lately because my average board strength on turns 8-9 is like 50/50 and I'm routinely facing comps in the 80/80 to 100/100 range on those same turns.

Are we back to highroll or die meta lately?

This is a pretty good precedent, as it may be a pivotal building card for Warlock in standard in future sets and Warlock's arguably the worst class.

Wonder if Darkglare gets a similar treatment.

Also unsure about fixing damage because it would promote power leveling... maybe make the tier 3/4 minions suck less.

I would rather cap damage at 1.5x the current turn. So you can take 2 on turn 1, then 3, then 5, then 6, then 8, then 9...turn 8 would be a max of 12 damage that way, and you'd have to lose a number of times instead of your health going 40, 40, 40, 40, 40, 40, 15, dead.

Games go one of three ways:
1) I get to turn 6 at 40 or 38 health. Then I die horribly.
2) I try to power-level. I "stabilize" on turn 7, hang on for two turns, and then someone with an incredibly stupid board or who scams me knocks me out.
3) Somewhere between the two, and my end result can be literally anywhere from 1 to 8.

I've won 3 of my last 4 games, for whatever that's worth.

BGs is a bad format imo. Like, it's extremely imbalanced. Heroes have either been very strong or straight up bad for a long time in the format and it's only when things are like super out of hand do they get hit.

I've seen a lot of content creators wondering why it's like this, and I'm pretty sure it's designed this way to get players to feel forced to spend gold/money on the perk every set. Which I don't buy because I don't want to reward blizzard for not supporting a game mode.

I'm never really bothered by the strength of good heroes. The weakness of poor heroes, OTOH, is aggravating when you're offered two bottom-barrel options. By my count, there are currently 60 heroes when we technically don't need more than 36. A few are tribal options, so with 3 apiece for 3 tribes sitting out, the list doesn't need to be much longer than 45. A few extra options so we aren't guaranteed the same heroes every time, I get, but the gutter tier heroes need to go. I do not really ever want the current form of:

Saurfang
Elise
Deathwing
Rat King
A. F. Kay
Malygos
Mukla
Deryl
Van Cleef
Pyramad
Baz'hial
Flurgl
Shudderwock
Illidan
Brann

That's just from tier 4. There's some I don't want in tier 3, either. Some of these were good at one point. I used to love playing Deryl, Pyramad starts were once interesting, Elise had a period where she was tier 1, etc. But right now I don't see any reason for these heroes to exist, and only two of the ones named have more than a 10% pick rate. They're literally just occupying space on the hero selection list.

Elise is awkward because yes, the one change they made had her sitting a little too strong, but once they reverted it, she was back in the dumpster. But how do you fix this? An at-cost minion isn't super exciting. It can be leveraged, sure, because if you're playing on schedule, getting a guaranteed 3 on the 7-gold turn or a 4 on the 9-gold turn rather than refreshing and praying is nice, but it's not compelling enough. Due to the granularity of her design, though, I'm not sure what else you could do. Giving her a map for the tier above would be way too broken. Nothing else retains the same theme.

Saurfang - Hes actually decent when mechs and beasts are in
Elise - eh I think with a token or swabbie start you can curve out the early maps ok
Deathwing - Again, decent when mechs and beasts are in, even if a little outclassed by Greybough (wonder if he could be buffed back to +3 now that rat pack is tier 3)
Rat King - bad, too dependent on the hero power and it doesnt even guarantee you initiative against the likes of Millhouse/Rafaam/Hooktusk early
A. F. Kay - I would only pick her if bad tier 3 tribes (beasts/murlocs) are out and mechs are in
Malygos - The hero power really only matters to find a token turn 1 or turn it into a decent unit, a worse Noz/Hooktusk in every way
Mukla - was actually underrated because rafaam curve is great especially if you have a mummy but quillboars made him irrelevant
Deryl - Scaling just caught up to him. Cthun, Rag, Elementals and Quillboars make him irrelevant.
Van Cleef - Power crept as well, Rakanishu is just way better and you dont have to buy trash
Pyramad - Needs Demons/Murlocs/Mechs to be in, and even then probably not a guarantee to top 4
Baz'hial - the most underrated hero in the game still, can power level or use the hero power to make a dominant board that will win most fights
Flurgl - Rip Megasaur
Shudderwock - Rip Pogos
Illidan - You really need beasts and pirates to be in and you really need to not die, which tends to happens when you are those tribes
Brann - I dunno man

ALso Baz'hial is a unit I've picked a lot and the cost of the gold to level faster or get another unit just puts you too far behind life wise when you compare it to other heroes that can either scale better or can do things to improve their curve too AND do other things. Like compare her to Barov who just has much more high roll potential at what I'd argue is a lower cost for what I would say is a pretty comparable skill intensive hero.

Giving it the Hooktusk treatment? Maybe. Still basically gives you a "triple" at every tier. But maybe that's less broken than I'm giving it credit for. Zephrys has to work for it, but at 3 gold, his hero power is kinda sorta the same thing. At least, usually I'm using his power to tempo a triple for the tier-up minion rather than for the golden. Is getting a Lightfang on curve at 9 gold really that broken when people power-level to 5 by that turn or save their triples for that point?

The other hero to compare it to would be Toki, who pays one gold for the option of a single tier-up minion, but still has to buy it. This is kind of like a better Toki, except that it can't be done every turn. Would play very differently from Toki, though, who likes to get to 5 swiftly and then crank out guaranteed 6's while not paying for the tavern up.

I mean theres obviously better, I guess I forgot about Barov who is actually the right answer for underrated, but Lich can do ok in non token lobbies because she can plenty of initiative. Like if you get a 3 great tier 2s on 3 the tempo is huge and you can go to 5 and grab units simultaneously with your cash. I dont generally tap after turn 7 but Ive had awesome boards that help me stabilize and find a win condition. Shes probably the best hero on that list IMO

I don't have enough experience with Lich because I literally pick against her every time, but my impression of her is that it's like playing wrath weaver demons -- you're paying health for an early bump, but you're out of the game with one bad loss.
