If that's happening a lot then you aren't doing enough to leverage your health as a resource early game.

Games go one of three ways:
1) I get to turn 6 at 40 or 38 health. Then I die horribly.
2) I try to power-level. I "stabilize" on turn 7, hang on for two turns, and then someone with an incredibly stupid board or who scams me knocks me out.
3) Somewhere between the two, and my end result can be literally anywhere from 1 to 8.

I've won 3 of my last 4 games, for whatever that's worth.
