Why is Rise from the Ashes the only episode in the series without Turnabout in the title?

It's Turnabout Revival in the Japanese version, so I don't know why they dropped it in the English version!

also I would guess the vampire is actually Edgeworth and the judo guy is probably Gumshoe if they're showing off the major characters from the first game

I had to look this up, I have zero memory of Gumshoe being in AA4. I could have sworn he disappears after the original trilogy and Edgeworth games, except for Edgeworth mentioning him briefly in AA6.

While I agree in spirit. Some genres of music, if you just dont vibe with any of the fundamentals of the genre. At all, it will all be bad.

There is nothing wrong with saying a genre is bad for you, an entire genre, so long as you can back up why.

I think all hardcore trance music is bad, the fundamentals of the genre are very loud, and very repetitive. It gives me headaches.

Im not saying that Chiaki is the best waifu on this list, because Ive obviously put seven other ones ahead of her, but I am saying that she is the most blatant waifubait ever. I say this even knowing of series like the Quintessential Quintuplets, where the entire point is to argue about waifus. And you know what? Im okay with it. Chiaki might be the single most pandering waifu ever, but I will allow it because in the context of the story, Chiaki is literally waifubait designed by a computer to be the perfect girl everyone will instantly befriend and love, which is a hilarious concept.

By the way, yes, the hint was about her hair. I could not for the life of me figure out what color her hair was. I asked multiple people, I found the hexcode for it and ran it through google, I did it all. I finally listed purple because I didnt want to give an entire unique hair color label for a single character, even though Ive done similar things for other characters.

Danganronpa girls really benefit from their series art style. Danganronpa isnt quite normal, generic anime art, and it does have a distinct look to it, but it also uses a lot of generic anime cuteness. Maybe Im explaining this poorly, but basically Im trying to say that even the boring girls in the series still have fun designs, and Chiaki is no exception. I really like how she gets across the idea of a nerd girl without going full bore like, say, a chef who always wears a chef outfit. Ill allow one Galaga hairpin, sure. I really like the permanent bed hair, the pale I-never-go-outside skin, and her inability to stay awake for very long. Im sure that in real life, a girl with these qualities, who just falls asleep on her feet and starts drooling without thinking about it and blowing giant snot bubbles, would be a big problem to deal with, but Chiaki is lucky to live in the world of anime.

I was torn a bit on Personality. Again, Chiakis shtick is that shes the Ultimate Gamer, the best video game player in the universe, and that could get old if they did it in like a Futaba from Persona 5 sort of way, where shes constantly referencing real memes or something, but instead, Chiaki actively mocks the idea of being only a video game player, and gets annoyed at someone assuming she has no interests beyond that, which is fine. Thats not exactly a benefit, its more like a lack of drawback. The ideal waifu wont just be a complete stereotype, which may not be the best thing for me to say given some of the ones I put above her, but so be it.

Point is, Chiakis always calm, observant, and understanding, which are all positive traits. She sort of takes a backseat approach to just supporting everyone else around her, and like, thats fine. Not everyone has to love the spotlight. So, when 90% of her sprites are just her staring blankly, or when she ends every other sentence with maybe?, it comes off as super cute. When she actually does take a stand for the things she believes in, she suddenly becomes determined and awake sort of. My point is that Chiaki is scientifically designed to be the perfect waifu so that youll feel bad when she dies in such an absurd, horrible way.

And Girlfriendness, well. I decided that being the Ultimate Gamer is equivalent to being the worlds best esports player, which does count as a job, and in the context of a bunch of dorky internet guys, girl who is better at video games than you is A+ material. Whats her worst quality, that she likes taking lots of naps? Man, I take naps all the time, I cant possibly blame her for that. I guess Chiaki would probably fill an apartment full of old gaming crap, and I know better than most the horror of trying to untangle five-hundred power cords for consoles you dont really play anymore and have no idea which belong to which I eventually resolved that issue by taping notes to all of the power cords so I could easily tell them apart without having to jiggle the consoles to see which ones moved. Point is, mutual interests are good, and I can deal with messiness. And hey, looking up the Wiki, it says that her birthday is March 14. My birthday is March 12, so man, Im never going to accidentally forget and look like a jerk 101 pounds, though, huh. That seems unhealthily thin.

I really enjoy Chiakis mild development over the course of the game, as well. Shes not the most complex character ever or anything, or even the most complex character in her own game, but seeing her connect with everyone and become the lynchpin of the group, only to finally have to tell everyone that shes a traitor, but not be able to explain herself, and have to sacrifice herself to save the others is such a strong moment. This goes beyond a waifu ranking, but that murder case is basically the entire game as far as people are concerned, because its by far the most interesting and emotional thing in Danganronpa 2. Even the people who dont like the game admit that that trial is the best part.

So, to sum this all up, Id say that Chiaki occupies a really interesting space as our final remaining quirky waifu. I mean, sure, all of the girls left are at least a little quirky, but Chiakis on another level. Its important to remember that while all of top 20 or so are extremely high-quality waifus (except Miu, who really snuck in on a technicality), Chiakis by far the most blatantly pandering one, and thats okay. Its okay to pander sometimes. Its not always a bad thing. I mean, who wouldnt want a girlfriend who's adorable, shares all of your interests, and is always a good person? It's just that I'm trying to imagine a non-video game example of something like this, like a movie with a girl who loves movies, or a book with a girl who loves books, and it doesn't quite come across the same way as a video game with a girl who loves video games, and I'm not absolutely certain why. It could just be the anime elements, I suppose.

Anyway, Chiaki, A+ waifu.

7. Melia Antiqua


I have way more Melia images, but GameFAQs wouldn't let me put any more in a single post. It's not too much of a loss, though, because all of them are just Melia trying and failing to make Shulk-senpai notice her or seething at Fiora.

Leonhart said earlier that Melia is a better waifu than Fiora, and hes right. This is another lol categories situation. If Xenoblade had an option for who to go on a date with to the Gold Saucer, and your options were Melia, Fiora, Sharla, and Dunban, Im going with Melia every time. Unlike Shulk, Cloud actually ends up with the correct girl, so thats one advantage for him. Im actually shocked that both Xenoblade girls made it into the top ten. I can tell you for sure that Sharla would not have.

Is there any waifu who suffers more than Melia for basically no reason? I have to believe that suffering porn is the fetish of someone at Nintendo. Like, everyone else in the game is basically happy and carefree and things work out for them, and Melias life is just horrible tragedy after horrible tragedy for no reason. Her brother dies, her father dies, her people all die, Im probably forgetting more family members who die, the boy she likes doesnt care about her at all and it turns into a 4chan meme, she has to help rescue his actual girlfriend, her kingdom is destroyed, she's passed over for Shulk's final smash in favor of Dunban and Riki, and then her friend gets the chance to fix the world and doesnt undo any of those things. She suffers so much and its for no reason at all. Theres even a moment when Sharla is like go Melia, you can totally get Shulk to notice you, and then once Fiora shows back up, Sharla never mentions it again. I guess you can argue that its to examine how much pain she can take after being a princess her whole life, but it really feels like its more just so that someone in the game can experience drama after Fiora shows back up. So, I was surprised at how many people werent sure who the next up clue referred to, because I was afraid it was too obvious.

I am choosing to call Melias hairstyle the Leiatails. I dont even know how to factor in the head wings. Are tiny head wings the silliest thing you can give your bird people in a video game? I know that they had to mark how shes a bird lady in some way, but these wings arent even located where they would be for a bird. At least put them on her back or give her feathers on her arms or something. ****ing Samus makes more sense as a bird lady, and Samus doesnt even have any bird traits at all.

I should say that for purposes of this list, Im assuming that this is post-racism Melia, who freaks out when she sees humans. Im also only rating her based on the original Xenoblade, not the remake, which I know has a new epilogue for her. Sorry! I did look up the new version, though, and it factored into her attractiveness.

Im going to say that Melia and Fiora are the waifus who benefited the most in this list from having their game remade. Xenoblade on the Wii is a fun game, but its so, so ugly. Its one of the ugliest games of its generation. Freaking FFX from 2002 looks leagues above Xenoblade. Ive seen people complain that the new art is more generically anime, and thats absolutely true, but you cannot tell me that the old art looked as good. I bring all of this up to justify Melias extremely high attractiveness score because, to put it bluntly, Wii Melia is not getting a 75. Either way, she pulls off the graceful princess look very well, you glance at her and you instantly know shes the offensive wizard and the princess of the group. And it helps that since Xenoblade is about putting on silly gear and looking ridiculous, we know that Melia has zero problems running around in tropical hula wear and swimsuits. Thats only an advantage.

Ive gone into my problems with princess characters before, but Melia dodges a lot of them thanks to the development she gets over the course of the game. She actually starts off as one of the princessiest of princesses, but mellows out as she suffers and suffers and suffers. Ive got to say that again, the game ****s on her for just no reason, it becomes funny after a while. Anyway, the Melia of latter game is a top tier waifu in terms of personality for sure. I guess if you were going to define her main personality attribute, it would be determination? She just keeps going despite all of the crap that happens to her, all while maintaining her composure. Thats another thing about Xenoblade, I love the range of British accents. Melias got an RP one like Luna from FFXV, but less ridiculous. Too bad for her that its not quite as cute as Fioras, but well get to that later.

I was actually torn on how to rate Melias girlfriendness. Ill say immediately that shes not really an adventurer, so she again dodges any penalty for that. Basically, by the end of the game, shes not really a princess anymore, and shes now merely a rich, powerful, respected superwizard. Like, honestly, I cant imagine Melia not being the perfect girlfriend, because she's always attentive, dedicated, and empathetic (after her kingdom is destroyed). You cant even argue that her duties get in the way like most princesses, because all of her people turned into monster birds and got shot by lightning, and then her country was deleted and turned into a new planet. You know what, if Melias bad luck rubs off on me, Im docking her some Girlfriendness points, sorry. I also didn't factor in her species living to like 300 years old or whatever, that seemed complicated. Imagine your girlfriend remembering the founding of the United States.

So, anyway. Melia Antiqua. Quality waifu. Quality princess waifu. Im actually curious how often in RPGs the hero ends up with his childhood friend instead of the mysterious magical girl or princess he meets when the journey is already underway. Crono sure as hell has more going on with Marle than Lucca, that's for sure.
