The inability of some people to distinguish the voice actor from the character is a problem that feels unique to Yuna. Not to say I don't get it, and that's the fault of Hedy Burress for giving such a wooden performance a lot of the time.

But Yuna as a character is great.

Don't blame the voice actors, blame the voice direction. There was a lot of "lets just make sure this all fits the lip flapping". Dubbing is an absolute beast, directing a dub is the hardest part because it can and absolutely will make or break it.

And yeah, I should say right off the bat that although Rapunzel does have a whole show, Im only using the movie. Sorry, but Im not watching an entire cartoon just for a waifu ranking list.

It's sort of interesting, actually. I would not have really put Rapunzel that high in a directly-assigned score list, but somehow, in this format, she rockets to top tier. Dont get me wrong: Rapunzels great and everything, and shed still be fairly high up, but #13? I doubt it.

I wont lie: Ive got a thing for blondes. I assume Im not alone in this, since theyre ridiculously overrepresented on the list relative to their worldwide prevalence. Anyway, I assume Rapunzel was scientifically designed to look beautiful by some soulless Disney drones, and honestly, she does it well. I cant really fault them for this! I hate Disney as a company, but they know how to make top tier cartoons, songs, and waifus. Im really glad that no one nominated Minnie Mouse, or else I would have had to analyze her seriously, too. But in all seriousness, I have to believe Rapunzels hair takes literal hours to deal with every day. Im right about this, right? Like, I know lol girls take a long time in the bathroom is a sexist joke and everything, but this woman has seventy-foot long hair. According to Google, each foot of hair weighs about one pound. Were talking seventy pounds of hair here, and thats before you consider the weight while wet. Rapunzels hair alone would set off the passenger seat beeping thing in a car if the seatbelt isnt put on. I didnt consider the difficulty of her hair while making this list, if I had, shed probably be knocked down a few pegs. I saw a picture of her from the cartoon with braided hair, and my only thought was how long did it take to do your hair like that? On the bright side, I have to assume that Rapunzels neck muscles have unparalleled strength. If were ever imprisoned and like tied to chairs, Im imagining Rapunzel being able to just flex her neck and break the ropes.

However

The truth is that short-haired, brunette Rapunzel (which she becomes at the end of the movie) is actually one of the few times Id say shes about equally attractive either way. Brunette Rapunzel might actually be superior to blonde Rapunzel, though the attractiveness ranking I gave was for blonde. So, either way, Rapunzels attractiveness is not impacted, and her short-haired form has none of disadvantages I mentioned.

I think Rapunzel might be the most Disney Princess of all the Disney Princesses. The first three and Pocahontas are just too boring to even discuss, Elsa, Anna, Jasmine, Merida, and Moana have too much personality, and the others arent actually princesses, so its down to Rapunzel or Ariel. But Ariel is also really stupid, so Im giving this to Rapunzel. Like, if youve never seen her movie, shes basically a Disney Princess. Shes spirited, shes goodhearted, she likes iguanas, shes everything you expect. What are her dislikes, according to the Wiki? Cats (eh, Im not a cat person), lemonade (havent had it in years), and wearing shoes. The last of those might be a problem. I think Rapunzel lives in Germany, right? Im from LA, let me tell you, you are not walking on our boiling-ass sidewalks and asphalt with no shoes, get the **** out of here.

One notable advantage Rapunzel has here is that she is unquestionably the waifu best-suited for Covid. Staying indoors for a year? Rapunzel has eighteen years of experience staying in a single room. No one is even remotely touching that. I know that with Rapunzel by my side, I am 100% prepared for the next plague.

Oh, yeah, and shes a princess. Its easy to forget that, because shes honestly the least princess-y princess on the list. That's possibly to her benefit, though. I assume thiscomes from being locked in a tower for her entire childhood. Do you think that whoever was going to take the throne after she disappeared was angry after she returned out of the blue and claimed her birthright? Was there a civil war between like her uncle and her supporters? Or was everyone completely okay with a woman with zero experience and no shoes showing up and saying I get to be your queen one day? I dont know, I assume the show goes into this and shows the brutal politicking and horrible misogyny of medieval Europe.

Overall? Yes, Rapunzel is a great waifu. Not really a good example of a princess waifu, actually, which is interesting, but as a more general waifu with some princess attributes, shes gold.

Mitsuru's an option, since Persona 3 came out in 2006.

Edit: Also, Xenoblade came out in 2010, so it's possible, especially with the remake last year.

Nah, that's the fan subtitle for the second game. It's just Gyakuten Kenji (Turnabout Prosecutor) 1 and 2 in Japan, so it would've still had to have a different title.

Looking at it more carefully, I can easily tell that this is too good to be some random guys art. Oh well! Take it up with the Anagram of like fourteen years ago, whose only JRPG experience was Final Fantasy, Tales of Symphonia, Pokemon (does that even count?), Skies of Arcadia, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Seventh Saga, and like ten minutes of the first Dragon Quest. Im also going to announce right off the bat that Im only counting base P3 here. I plan to play the spinoffs one day, but theyre not a high priority for me.

Can I just say that of basically every series in any genre Ive ever played, Persona has the most genius premise? A world made out of the subconscious ideas of normal people, where characters from mythology are reflected in physical form, and by recognizing the parts of yourself you dont want to acknowledge you gain control over them. ****ing gold star, Atlus. And in regards to Persona 3 specifically, while I like the idea of a bunch of high schoolers trying to save the world and having no idea what theyre doing, theres a bit too much what do we do now? well I dunno, what do YOU think we should do now? in that game. And dont even get me started on Yukari. Shes so ****ing lucky no one nominated her. Forget how she tries to destroy the world so shell get five extra minutes with her dead boyfriend, I still hate her for using 50 HP single-target healing items when my entire party was near death, the AI in that game is bonkers. At several points in the game, including the final boss, I just had the main character be a dedicated healer and had to rely on my party members to do all of the actual attacks. Luckily, Mitsuru's AI is not as completely offensive as Yukari's AI, so I wont deduct point for her spamming marin karin even though I probably should.

Thank God no one nominated the female protagonist of this game. I only played the PS2 release, with the boy. People have told me that the girl is more fun as a character, but that shes so upbeat that it really clashes with the dour tone of the game. Seems like a really bizarre choice if so. P3 is clearly meant to be a game with a really slow, dark atmosphere, and seeing images of this girl with her pink menu borders running around being way more active and energetic is odd. Like, the most basic thing you can do in a fight is to grab a fake handgun and shoot yourself with it, because only the sensation of suicide lets you summon monsters to defend yourself, P3 operates on that kind of edgy sorrowfulness, and oh God, Im a full page into this writeup and all Ive said about Mitsuru so far is that her AI is bad. I cant even compensate for this by doing a quick only-Persona waifu ranking because Mitsuru is somehow not the highest-ranked Persona waifu on my list! Thatll have to wait for Tae. Ill say this, though: Mitsuru is the standout waifu of Persona 3, for certain. P3 is definitely the most down-to-Earth of the series, and its interesting that Mitsuru seems like everyones favorite waifu from the game, because shes also the most absurd one after Aigis?

Dont get me wrong: I love Mitsuru, shes great. But shes this unapproachably perfect, handworking, supersmart, impossibly wealthy master fencer-future CEO whos better than you in every conceivable way and never loses her cool except when her father dies (spoilers, but if you cant tell that guy is totally going to die the second he shows up, I dont know if I can help you) and if you tell her to wear a French maid outfit. Even when youre saving the world, the main character still doesnt quite feel equal to her, like shes a step above everyone else and her leading the team is just so natural because of that. Aside from the robot, shes the most cartoonish character in the game, and not by a small margin. I especially like when shes all Yeah, I considered wearing something cuter like Yukari does, but I know it wouldnt work for me so I just didnt bother. So, its sort of interesting that the most somber and down-to-Earth of the series still has as its best waifu the silliest girl from a conceptual perspective? Like, Yukari, Fuuka, and all of the non-party member girls all have basically normal personalities that are stretched out a little, whereas itd be much rarer to meet a Mitsuru in real life.

Not sure what to even say about her attractiveness, aside from the fact that, like most Persona waifus, shes very hot. Its in more of an imperious way than usual, though. The vast majority of our waifus in this list are of the cute variety, with a large minority of regal princesses, emotionless girls, or strong warrior types. Mitsurus sort of a combination of the three, though shes obviously not a normal princess. Thats a big of an interesting contrast, comparing her to Haru. Both are the heiresses to absurd fortunes, but Haru at her worst still plays up the princess angle way more than Mitsuru ever does. They even both have S-links about escaping arranged marriages! Are arranged marriages like a thing in super upper class Japan? Because this has come up in multiple anime things Ive seen, and Ive never heard of it in real life.

By the way, I know I criticized Makoto for demanding Charm 5 to hang out with you, but Im going to be a huge hypocrite here and give Mitsuru a pass for demanding you max out your exams to hang out with her. Why? Because I maxed out my exams early on for unrelated reasons, which made dealing with it way less annoying.

Ive been trying to think of what a relationship with Mitsuru would most likely be like, and I think I have it. It would be similar to Charlotte Pickles from Rugrats. Hows that for a random reference? Where shes busy with her company, and is just so much smarter and better than her husband. Like, shes super reliable and everything, and her being at the impossible rich tier means youll never want for anything, but youre going to be the Drew in this relationship. Youre going to be the one whos not as smart or interesting as her, to a greater extent than most of the other waifus on the list. At least Mitsuru probably doesnt use one of those giant 90s cellphones.

Anyway, Mitsuru. I think everyone likes her, right? Ive heard people complain about other P3 characters, but she and Junpei seem pretty universally loved. So, Im calling it. Mitsuru pretty damn good waifu. Makes complete sense why shes so high on the list. Trying to justify a few other waifus I have above her is going to be a problem, in fact, but well get to that in time.

People have misled you, I think. FeMC really isn't all that different from Door-kun. I don't remember her being substantially more positive. Maybe there are a few more joke responses? Maybe her new s-links aren't as nihilistic? The atmosphere in the main story is still dark and dreary, perhaps even more so in certain situations honestly. That being said I don't think she's a good waifu; not sure why.

I actually do like Yukari, though. I never played the Answer, which apparently turns her into a crazy person. I also only played P3P, so all the jokes about the bad AI always go over my head. She's cute. I don't like Yukari as much as Mitsuru though, who might be my personal number 1. I totally don't mind not being as smart, providing, or talented as her (which is probably the case in real life relationships anyway, let's be honest). Finally, Fuuka is straight up garbage.

I think arranged marriages among the super rich is a thing everywhere still.

Pretty sure this isn't true? I don't remember anything like that. She gets rid of the shitty social links so you'll feel less dour when playing them if that counts.

I'll agree that P3's characters are less immediately extreme and exciting than the later games' characters, but I wouldn't say she's boring.

There's a cheat that lets you control teammates for the PS2 version if you really want to play that version for whatever reason.

I think a game balanced around your AI being braindead isn't great so I'll take a slightly easy game that doesn't punish me randomly for no reason any day

Does anyone dislike Aoi? I can understand not liking her that much, but does anyone actually dislike her? Because Ive never heard anyone complain about her. Everyone seems to universally like her, or at least be neutral to her. Anyway, I was a bit surprised at her nomination above all other Danganronpa girls. People did a pretty good job of not nominating any of the weirder or harder-to-rank ones. I cant imagine ranking Toko, and Mikan would have a gigantic writeup that would take forever to deal with.

In terms of pure Girlfirendness, Aoi is almost untouchably high. All of the Danganronpa girls are, because they tend to have abilities that are impressive, but not something that completely overshadows you, like Mitsuru being the richest girl on Earth or waifus being omnipotent superwizards. Aoi is merely the worlds greatest swimmer. Its the difference between you and Michael Phelps; hes basically better than you in every way, but he still doesnt make your existence completely pointless by comparison. I interpret a lot of these Im the best at X skills as functionally meaning youd be in the Olympics or something, and being able to say My girlfriend is an Olympic swimming champion is basically the end of any tell me about your girlfriend lol conversations. Do you know what my sisters boyfriends do? One is a web designer, and the other is a stand-up comedian. Dropping My girlfriend is Michael Phelps into the mix would destroy them. And I guess its mentioned that just graduating from Aois high school guarantees success in life, which is good. Not even necessarily success at what you actually do, either, just general success. Mondo gets into school as the Ultimate Biker Gang Dude, and he mentions in one support that hell just become a carpenter. So, when Aoi mentions that she falls asleep in class and cant read textbooks except as a sleeping aid, its fine. Its one of the few times where a waifu having no clear career possibilities actually doesnt matter. And I mean, she also likes karaoke, which I am the worst in the world at, but also enjoy. Things are looking up, here.

It probably also helps that Aoi doesnt have a million really complicated ambitions, too. She basically just wants to do a lot of physically exhausting exercises, have a bunch of friends, and eat donuts. Ill say that, though. When I watched a LP of Danganronpa 1 after already beating the game, I did not remember Aoi loves donuts coming up so often. Im just saying, this is going to be the easiest girl in the world to buy back the affection of after you have a fight about something stupid. Flowers can be expensive, but donuts are the cheapest food after ramen.

Its hard to really talk about Aois personality without just talking about Danganronpa in general, but shes basically the perfect normal girl. Like, one who has a strong personality, but whos basically just a really good, kindhearted person whos maybe slightly stupid. Thats one thing about the first Danganronpa thats ****ing hysterical if you think about it: Byakuya figures out who the killer is in the first three cases pretty easily, then in the fourth case, he cant figure it out because he just cannot comprehend Aois extremely obvious motive of grief over her friends death, and he totally would have been killed by the second stupidest person in the building. I mean, thats a major plot point that changes the entire course of the game, so maybe its less hysterical if you think about and more the way things are meant to be interpreted, but whatever. Look, the point is, the worst you can say about Aoi is that she tried to get everyone killed because they wouldnt trust a 64 martial artist who betrayed them to the mastermind of a death game and could personally kill everyone in the building ten times over in five seconds. I guess thats actually a serious strike against her, though. I really enjoy how she gets angry at Byakuya, Toko, and Hiro, accusing them of driving Sakura to suicide, then just avoids justifying why shes also trying to kill Makoto and Kyoko besides a very vague we all have to pay.

In regards to her Attractiveness, Aoi is a fairly generic anime girl, but I do have a question: what do you call that ponytail hair spike thing she has? Is there a word for a ponytail thats always standing vertically? How does she maintain it while swimming? I am forced to assume that theres an industrial amount of hair gel being used here. Thats fine, though. Hair gels not expensive, so its fine. Hair gel, track jackets, and donuts; these are the expenses youll have to worry about with Aoi.
