Board 8 > What's the best boss squad in video games?

In my official capacity as Video Games Guy, I have decided the following qualifications are necessary to be a boss squad:

• 4+ people who are part of the same organization or group who fight the main character in at least one distinct unique boss battle each. There can be a maximum of one member who doesn't fight the main character because he either dies too early or has a change of heart. Special exceptions like twins fighting you at the same time are permissible.
• One of them may be the leader, or they may have a leader who's separate from the rest of the group but whom they obey.
• They all need to have a unique skill or power that makes their fight different from the others.
• They all need to have distinct wacky personalities, clothing, and, if possible, slightly offensive accents done by people who clearly do not have those accents in real life.
• They all need to interact with each other at least a few times to establish their intragroup rivalries and friendships.

So, Foxhound qualifies because you fight everyone at least once (except Octopus, but whatever), but Star Wolf doesn't because you only fight them as a group.

everyone is very distinct, one of them is essentially your recurring rival, and they're all great

I've not played 4 or 5 because 3 completely put me off the series forever but nothing in 1 or 2 is as cartoonish as bees guy or fire guy

The others don't even really have unique bosses as a group.

I was thinking about Resi bosses that could qualify for this and Los Illuminados misses the mark due to lack of concrete interactions (if you extend it to behind-the-scenes it does make it though) but RE5 (Wesker, Excella, Jill, and Irving) and the Baker family in RE7 totally count!

idk, Dark Falz Collective? they're pretty good in episode 5. Winds of Destruction probably have them beat

I thought I'd be the first to think of the Baker family! I'm having a hard time thinking of good non-MGS ones that qualify... Elemental Archfiends, Lucavi and Judges from FF aren't that great. Maybe the Castle Bleck crew from Super Paper Mario?

Yeah the United Assassins Association would've gotten my vote if they had more interaction.

Maybe Gym Leaders of the Galar region...they definitely interacted more than the previous incarnations.

You know, I might have to relax the requirement on interacting with each other in the story, because otherwise I'd have to throw out the Evil Ex-Boyfriends from the Scott Pilgrim game. I guess just implied interactions are fine.

My first thought was Ozzie, Flea, and Slash. Even if they are one short, they have the distinct personalities in spades.

Half the Cobra unit is great (Joy, Sorrow, End), Fury is ok I guess, the other two... not so much.

Thats good since they dont interact much but does Beastector from Mischief Makers coun lr number wise? Emperor Leo is their boss, kind of making him one? Otherwise its just three. But they are the best boss squad ever imo...

It's hard to think of many better than the Order of No Quarter. They're like Robot Masters with personality and have been developed greatly by the SK expansions.
That said,

Oh yeah I do enjoy the Asterisk users. I was surprised by some of their later interactions.

If not for Ocelot, the Cobras would have been better than (MGS) Fox Hound, but Ocelot is too big of an asset.

Foxhound interacts more like actual people and you can feel they have dynamics going on.

Turks weren't utilized to its full potential in FF7, but in the remakes they may take the spot.
