Did they change the triple triad rule? Now I can have as many under 5* cards as I want? Initially it could be only 1 card of my 5 could be above 1*.

In the most recent patch, they made it so all players could have as many 3 star and under cards as they wanted, and one 4 or 5 star.

Previously, you needed to have a certain number of unique cards in order to unlock the ability to have more 2 or 3 star cards.

I think you can actually have either two 4*s or one 5* (since otherwise 4*s would be useless)

My best card right now is only 4* (Alphinaud and Alisae), but I definitely plan on eventually buying the Cloud and Noctis cards from Gold Saucer!

One day I'll build up my deck. I just realized that once you clean out an NPC of their cards, they don't have a symbol above their head anymore. So it's a lot easier than I thought to get all the cards, as long as I pay attention. Good to know.

Gonna play some later tonight, try and get to level 49, then keep the MSQ going.

I saw a couple random + quest signs, one at level 1, one at level 41 lol. Both were for beast tribes, Ixal and Sylphs. I guess the Ixal are for gathering/crafting classes and sylph quests are more damaging based quests? Just hit level 48 bard, didn't have as much time to play as I thought today, will do leveling roulette tomorrow morning to try and get to 49!

The Ixal are for crafters and all other ARR beast tribes are for combat classes. The Ixal xp is okay but the combat ones dont give much; the main reason to do them is to unlock some mounts/minions. Once you get past the intros to unlock them theyre all based on daily quests.

The expansion beast tribe quests are somewhat useful for that purpose (especially the SB and ShB ones), but the xp from the (non-Ixal) ARR beast tribes is basically negligible

well the stuff you get is still worthless unless you want to buy dyes

for everything but ARR, they limit you to 3 quests a day (except bonuses once you rank up), and its pretty much 30 days of dailies

I -think- it'll be 30 days if you do the three highest level quests you can, but i could be wrong.

if you're gonna grind beast tribes, wait until you're level like 58 so monsters stop aggroing you. You can thank me later.

Cleared E9S today with my static. Got a 99th percentile on fflogs too on it. Feels good.

Flame Commander Swift just does not want to drop his last card (which I assume is 5* Raubahn). Supremely annoying!

got e12s to 3% enrage earlier, but alas, no week 1 clear.

I got e9s this week only and the Emerald drop.

Yeah we got e9s cleared and to about 40% on 10 and I'm happy with that. Hopefully get that down quick and start on 11 this week.

Dungeons for 1.0/ARR aren't too terribly story relevant at the moment, beyond the one that leads into Halls of the Dead. You will, however, want to run raid and alliance raid content. ARR's raid is abandoned and I dont think it can appear in roulette, so run it unsynched with a friend or three, because it is plot relevant. ARR's ALLIANCE raid, by comparison, drives into Shadowbringers; you absolutely should do it at first opportunity.

it's more that in ARR there was only one raid difficulty and it was equivalent to savage difficulty in later expansions, which is too hard to just have in roulettes

We probably went over it but Coil isn't a terribly huge priority either, it's best put off until you're level 60 or higher. It's got some deep lore but it's mostly background info and unlike other questlines it isn't directly required for quests or to understand the plot. The best time to do it is after beating Heavensward but before doing the 60 postgame story that leads to Stormblood, but you can always ignore that and come back to it whenever.

Yep. Binding Coil is "why should I care about both Levellieurs" - the raid.

In it's defence, even now it's still some of the most fun content XIV has to offer, and an interesting throwback to how mechanics used to be before they got revamped, although a lot of people 'spoil' it for themselves by running it unsynced and taking all of the challenge out of it. It's a big ask, but if you can find a group to run the whole thing at level 50, its highly recommended.

Binding Coil is still the best Raid story content and is worth doing it for that alone. Even if Alisaie's old voice actress is one of the worst I've ever heard.

I finished the 5.4 story today! As this boards Number 1 Fandaniel Fan, I loved it.

I finished 5.4s MSQ a few days ago

Thought it was kinda a letdown besides the very end with Fandaniel

Hopefully I can get myself to finish E10-12 tonight before the reset...!

I definitely like the fights in this last Eden finale, and I especially appreciate that E11 is just what if your daddy issues became a raid boss.

I'm thinking about trying savage... Kanz might help coach me if I do.

I was genuinely surprised they gave that character good development after ignoring and handwaving that plotline for so long. Really feels like the writers are starting to tie up most of the loose ends.

This is the first time in a long while that I'm genuinely uninterested in where the MSQ goes. Zenos and Fandaniel are just utterly boring villains to me. I'm already dreading another expansion with Zenos in the spotlight. The absolute best possible outcome of 5.5 is that they both get quietly killed by someone else and then the real threat shows up to spout a one-liner and lead into the next expac story.

I find it funny to read things like that, because people said the same things about the Ascians. Yawn, one-dimensional bad guys in cloaks doing evil things because it's evil. They can NEVER EVER EVER be compelling characters

5.4 MSQ was a weird combination of tying up an old loose end while trying to set-up the path to the next expansion. Kinda middling, but expected after the highs that 5.3 hit.

Besides, the story highlight for 5.4 was always going to be the conclusion to Eden, which I thought was pretty decent.

Alas, my E9S PF misadventures always run into the wall that is brambles

This makes sense in-universe and I don't get the impression that the writers know or care about the community backlash on Lyse at all.
