Got my vote mailed out today. Oregon's quite lovely like that. Granted, my vote will equally not matter because it is Oregon, but it is the principle of the thing, plus there were some interesting local stuff to weigh in on too. Heck, even some of the republican candidates for some of the positions seemed reasonable upon looking up what they stand for.

Really, I can't think of any reason why the rest of the country can't offer a similar service.

If Trump gives the order, they'll be all for it except for maybe a small handful of holdouts who want to burnish their fiscal conservative credentials. It's not like they need 51 Republicans for this. 13 + 47 Democrats + Pence is enough.

I honestly think the Republicans know they will have to pass it if it gets to their floor so they are trying to convince Trump to kill it on his doorstep so they can get out of the deal and let him take the heat for it.

Isn't there a process for the full Senate to overrule the majority leader? Pretty sure if a majority of the Senate really wants to consider a bill, they can do it. Otherwise the majority leader would be more like a dictator, able to stop a bill from being considered even if all 99 other senators supported it.

He has been misquoted out of context a lot. When asked about the relief bill he said he wasn't going with the 2.2 trillion plan (because they haven't agreed on a de yet) and instead would be putting up the 500 billion dollar deal (because it's a bill they are for and no other bill has been agreed upon with the white house and house).

They didn't ask if he would put up an agreed upon deal and he said no he wouldn't cuz he was going with theirs. He said he wasn't going to put up a bill that didn't exist in agreement and instead would put up something of their own.

Pushing the 500 billion deal is just politics. They don't actually want it, and they know Democrats won't vote for it, but they're pushing it to try and make Dems look bad when they say "We tried!"
