While this is true, it is also true that there are a number of equally qualified individuals so I don't mind him picking one of those qualified people who is female to honor the memory of RBG.

I think Barrett will do a great job if she truly is selected. She's been praised for her intelligently written decisions by people on both sides of the aisle.

Yeah, this on the whole is clearly not what RBG wanted.

That said, she was big on getting more women on the court, so that one small part is true--When I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court] and I say, 'When there are nine,' people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that.

Worth noting that of the Republican supreme court justices right now, currently none of them are women. So it would still be good to change that. (That said, Amy Barrett really should have been nominated two years ago instead of Kavanaugh, not now when people were obviously going to object based on timing).

I don't really know much about that site. I just linked it from a Tweet someone sent out. But as you said it's being reported by multiple news orgs.

I highly doubt Roe will be overturned. But I could see it possibly being more and more narrowly defined.

I don't know who we are talking about but I already have them ignored, so this isn't the first time they've been an obvious troll.

The context here is that it currently looks decently likely that two republicans (Loeffler and Collins) will make the runoff, locking out the Dems. Warnock is pretty clearly polling first among the Dem candidates, but the second place candidate (who is Joe Lieberman's son!) appears to still think he has a shot for some reason and is resisting calls to drop out, insisting that his candidacy won't act as a spoiler.

I'd say 23% (from the link you posted) is a fair bit more than "almost no shot". He's absolutely an underdog of course, but he's got a chance.

That said, I don't really see how his statement could possibly hurt him electorally anyway. I can see how blocking Kavanaugh would have hurt, but in this case he has an easy leg to stand on by appealing to McConnell's own words 4 years ago. We have some polling that suggests rushing this SC confirmation vote is not popular with centrists/independents; obviously it is popular with Republican partisans but that's not who he's appealing to.

If anything, going along with the Republicans on this would depress turnout among left-wing voters for him which he absolutely needs if he has any chance.

I mean, like someone had said before, it's Barr making literally the exact same play as the Mueller Report:

Release a misleading lie about a situation so that the White House and right-wing media can whip it into a fervor, even the mainstream media will report on it as if the administration hasn't repeatedly used this tactic. Then, after the narrative is in place, quietly release a "revised" statement (or in the case of Mueller, have Mueller and his team go "wtf is this?") revealing the initial account they gave (and that Trump and the right are still running full speed with) was wrong. Trump and the right will ignore that part or claim it fake, the mainstream media, if it deigns to note the update at all, will do so with far less fanfare than the original story, and it's all too late to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Really, this story just makes it clear that if the police are racist against anyone, it's white people.

The one difference I find interesting (re. fucked up) is that when the police kill an unarmed black man fleeing from them, the justification offered in this topic series has been "well he was a potential threat, and I'd rather the police be equipped to kill a potential threat to protect innocent lives, than let that threat go free where he can harm people". Never mind that such a thought process goes against the ideals of "innocent until proven guilty" (apparently only valid when women accuse men of sexual assault), but it seems in this instance, the police pulled over a known criminal and allowed him to flee in such a manner that he could hide and fire a weapon upon them. There was no "shoot him in the back" here. Just...an interesting dichotomy.
