At best, again, you would have to go down the flaming route and if you are gonna go down that route with him, you have to get red for it also. Sephy was just sarcastic and easily the sarcasm could just mean red is a normal run of the mill person intellectually and not an idiot.

people ARE losing their businesses, kids trapped with abusive parents is confirmed as domestic abuse cases HAVE gone up, both substance abuse and suicide ALWAYS go up in times of major crisis or major unemployment. hell, it's something like 20% of all suicides that can be directly correlated to unemployment and our numbers are currently around 1932, LA is almost as bad as 1933 which is peak depression. these are all absolutely true and the only one spreading misinformation is the mod there in saying that these aren't all major aspects of the ongoing pandemic. they 100% are. he's wrong, seph is right.

only thing you can really ding him on is that he was abrasive to red... in responding to a post where red was abrasive to him.

posts have always gotten modded inconsistently on this site because they largely rely on people marking them. there are probably more people on this board who dislike sephy than people who dislike red, so sephy's posts will get marked more often (and, in turn, they will get modded more often).

Yeah, checking the site that shall not be named, at NO point does Sephy make ANY effort to imply that there are logical, health-related reasons behind his argument. The post which Red responded to (which is not included in Sephy's moderation image) is as follows:

"I grew up in poverty, earned a scholarship to an Ivy League university (first in my family to go to college, dad dropped out of high school when he was 15), then worked my way into a very good living that allows me to now support my parents when they need it.

So perhaps that is why I take issue when the government and ivory tower technocrats point their fingers at 20 million people, declare them "unessential" and forbid them from making a living.

But you do you, man. If it makes you feel better to imagine me in a different way, go right ahead."

The first paragraph and the last sentence, fair enough. It was in response to my previous assertions about white privilege and whatnot, and I stand by my statements. But that middle sentence is almost completely disconnected from the point of its statement. It's just adding an additional rant about the government limiting freedoms, as though they're only doing so...for some reason? I know hardcore conspiracy theorists claim this is all the Democrats' doing to tank the economy and ruin Trump's re-election chances, but there's no hint of that in Sephy's post either. Anyway, Red's post was in response to that bizarre non-sequitur, in which he interpreted it as further whining from a guy who had spent a great deal of time prior to that point whining about his favorite bar being closed down and his portfolio taking a hit (while mentioning NONE of the things that he listed in his moderated post).

Again, Sephy's moderated post rattles off a list of negatives, implies that there is zero positive reason to quarantine (in neither the moderated post, nor the post Red responded to, which both come across as "the government just wants people to suffer for shits and giggles and to take our freedom away"), and makes the insinuation that Red supports all of those negatives, without any positive purpose behind them. Even if you disagree with the quarantine, it's at the very least being done for a public health reason, but you wouldn't know that from Sephy's post, which is just incendiary and spreading false information via omission.

I don't see how this is difficult to comprehend, especially given Sephy's prior moderation history.

there's nothing false being spread by omission in that post. those are all factual issues on the opposite side of red's position. that's all. also since when do you need to make your opponent's side in an argument? that's a standard that nobody ever uses and is a silly position to take; they'll argue their points, you'll argue yours.

it ain't that hard to say that yeah, the mod's wrong there. seph was correct in pointing out those issues, the mod is wrong in saying that's spreading disinfo as it's all accurate. nobody's saying seph's history isn't abysmal, just that the one particular post highlighted that got him purged was wrongfully modded.

that's how arguments work.

some aspects you're saying are wrong mind you - we have no idea what it would've looked like anymore considering we couldn't get the death/infection rates right at all - but the overall point does remain valid. the argument can then shift towards more disagreement on the measures or accepting the measures were necessary then but aren't now, where we've gotten our shit together medically and have a better idea of what we're facing.

If you can't read Sephy's post, completely in-context of the image Brohan posted, and see the difference between the two responses, then you're clearly biased and blinded by the constant, misguided notion that it's "liberal mods quashing conservative thought" and not "assholes are assholes and get moderated, while also holding conservative beliefs".

Based on Sephy's tone and wording, his post implies that Red advocates for people losing their livelihoods, child abuse, substance abuse, and suicide. Again, this is not "having a reasonable and measured debate" as pyre puts it. That's Sephy deliberately being incendiary, as he ALWAYS is.

You could completely prove this 100 ways over, and Inviso is gonna defend the erroneous position to death. Typical behavior.

Inviso's argument is literally that he spread misinformation of red's post through implications gathered from someone's own way of taking the post. (While literally quoting the full post into the post itself).

Inviso will never admit to being wrong and will argue that terrible position til the end of time, so not worth debating it with Inviso.

Pretty much everyone besides Inviso said it was a wrong moderation though, so there seems to be basically no disagreement on that basis outside of a goofball or two.

I don't think it is unreasonable to think a marked post you intend to moderate that you aren't looking at the lead up post literally quoted above it.

I mean, I have won many appeals in the past system by pointing out posts way beforehand I was responding to, but I have never seen a mod not take into account the post literally quoted in the post.

That would be just lazy moderating and again a failure of moderation

It doesn't matter what I believe. I personally have got to stick to my guns and maintain that all public accusations, especially high profile ones like this that come out years after the fact with aims at politically damaging someone, need to be shelved.

My position is the only one that's remained consistent through all of this. The Biden supporters either have to admit that their position only applies when the accused is a republican (hypocrisy), or that there is some merit to questioning an accuser coming forward at a time like this.

That said, she said she complained to three managers about it. None of them recollect it. She also said she filed a complaint with the congressional record or something. This is held at the University of Delaware. They refuse to let this be looked at until 2 years after he is gone from "public life".
