Halo Reach deserves this win. It was a fantastic game.

I expected Life is Strange to win, how is it losing, isn't the general consensus preferring it? better rating overall and more acclaim?

Symphonia is regarded as the FFVII of the Tales of series, for many reasons, including contest strength. I picked Berseria in hopes of it being some sort of FFXII, contest-wise.

Turns out it's more like a FFXIII-2...

Well since a lot of negativity towards Tales is brewing here i will take my leave for now, i will come back in the next bracket, this was a sad one, just saying, have no negative towards Hollow Knight, it is a cool game, it is just my own bias this time. Good Luck on voting guys!

Tales is the FFXIII-2 of RPG series, so it really says something when the FFXIII-2 of that series got such a large Board 8 support

Life is Strange is terrific despite its flaws, and it filled many of the cracks found in The Walking Dead's model for guilt simulators. LiS is arguably a top ten pick for the decade, at least in my book.

However, against Halo: Reach, it just couldn't release the Kra-can.

FF7 is significantly stronger compared to FF12. The Symphonia : Berseria ratio is probably about the same as FF7 : FF12.

Considering how many people in this topic seem upset that Berseria lost, I wouldn't say there's negativity towards the quality of the game...just its contest strength.

Damn, what a shame.

I have no qualm with Hollow Knight, great game! I hope more people check out Berseria, though. Arguably both the best game in the franchise, as well as arguably the best jRPG this console gen, not that there are a ton of those.

I'll also go to bat for Berseria. Really good game. Can't complain about Hollow Knight beating it though, it's a game I respect a lot even if it didn't entirely click with me.

Yeah, you could totally do that. In fact, the Breath of the Wild match is a clear step above the other 3 matches in vote totals as a result of being displayed on the homepage. That match is about 120 votes higher than the other 3 matches, and this was after being on the homepage for 10 minutes so far.

It would seem you can, since BotW's match has 120 more votes than the next two and 116 more votes than HK/Berseria.

Edit: Based on creativename's poll updater, that entire margin has come from the past ten minutes, as all matches except HK/Berseria had tied votals at 10 PM PDT.

If were comparing FF12 to FF7...then beseria is absolutely comparable to FF12.

FF7 would triple FF12. I doubt Symphonia would triple Beseria. I mean Symphonia would beat Hollow Knight. but not by much

The BotW match pulling away from the other 3 matches could be taken as a sign that the forced voting in all 4 matches (if you use the contest voting form) is actually hurting vote totals of all 4 matches running on the same day.

Also, looks like the homepage was fixed, so the correct poll is showing up as intended. So the BotW match won't be pulling away even farther from the other 3 matches.

vesperia did ridiculously well considering it came out exclusively on xbox 360. It sold more than any ps2 tales games despite having smaller userbase and being on an american console

Best in the series! The rest of the game is pretty middling, but that still has to count for something.

Coming of age story. I enjoyed it. But yes the battle system has yet to be topped by any other Tales game.

i'd say Xillia 2 has the best battle system. graces F is close behind.

I'll admit to still having not played Xillia 2, though I did recently purchase it. A Tales game with a silent protagonist is just such a dumb off putting idea, I've been reluctant to pay any attention to the game since it was first announced.

Berseria is so good. Might be best in series, IMO. Loved the Xillia games too.

As a result of the glitch that caused the BotW match to appear in the PotD slot for about 15 minutes before it was fixed, I decided to look into the split between registered/anonymous users on who voted in the match from the PotD slot.

During the 15 minute time block from 1:00 AM to 1:15 AM EST, the overall votes for the BotW match was 57.52% registered users. For comparison, the Halo: Reach match had 58.17% registered users during that same time period. So not significantly different from the other matches that didn't appear in the PotD slot. Among the votes that had to be submitted from the PotD slot (estimated at 113 votes), registered users made up 56.64% of those votes. So the PotD slot only slightly favored anonymous users.

iirc, the Namco had the genius idea of launching Abyss a couple weeks before FF12 in NA. It was doomed to fail from the start. (Goes back to lurking)

I considered picking Berseria over Hollow Knight but little did I know that maybe I should have considered Hollow Knight over FF15.

I mean I it sounds like a stretch but 74% against probably the only game in the contest I've literally never even heard of is sad lol

Right now, according to xstats, Berseria would need to get at least 66,55% against Edith Finch in order for HK to beat FFXV.

Since someone asked how Three Houses sold relative to other JRPGs in the bracket, it would definitely be up there at over 2.5 million as of the end of last year. It has likely passed Persona 5 by now.

The highest selling JRPG here (other than HGSS I guess) is certainly Dark Souls, followed by FFXV. Then itd probably be Dark Souls III, DQXI, then Sekiro, then Nier Automata, though DQXI is obviously very disproportionately centred around Japan.

I don't think Hollow Knight is going to do FFXV anything there. Hollow Knight stands out today and certainly attracts more votes from someone who played neither game, but FFXV has name recognition. Wouldn't surprise me if Edith Finch was scoring better than it should due to antivoting. Nothing Final Fantasy scores blowouts anymore.

The thing with something like Edith Finch is that you could tell me every game in the bracket gets 70% on it and I would go "Eh...I could see it I guess?"

Not saying I'm taking Hollow Knight over FFXV, but I guess it's more that FFXV's result kind of doesn't mean anything?
