Smith is being called up to replace Nimmo. Former 1b prospect. Former top 100. He has yet to get consistent daily ABs in the majors since 2016. BUT THEY WON'T PLAY HIM. THEY LITERALLY SAID "dont expect him to get much playing time"

HE WAS A FORMER TOP 100 PROSPECT. HE HAS NEVER GOTTEN A CHANCE TO PLAY CONSISTENTLY. He's sucked but we've never seen him for an extended period. Why do they ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO PLAY HIM??? under normal circumstances I would say "well good. hopefully everyone learns their fucking lesson to not play their prospects out of position" except obviously theyre not going to. and as im literally fucking typing this, i hear callaway say "well hes gonna learn by playing there more and more. thats why we had him get reps in LF in AAA."

He's supposed to be an elite 1B defensively. he hasnt been great defensively in the tiny bit of reps hes gotten there so far in his career but the mets are gonna say "nope fuck all that. we dont care. stick him in LF. we need to have jay bruce play 1B"

why would you insist on playing 38 year old washed up vets over 24 year old prospects who are actually part of the future? like on a basically every day basis?

Why are they priortizing winning games in a lost season of 2018 over trying to see what you have for 2019? It makes NO sense. Other teams that are out of it (and some in it) with young kids are giving them the playing time they deserve. Look at Acuna and Soto. The Braves and Nats called them up early and had them play every day with profit. The Mets waited until fucking August to call up McNeil and even then he only starts every other day but he's their most exciting position player right now outside of Nimmo (who obviously is hurt because fuck the Phillies for hitting him)

And Alonso is a super stud tearing it up ALL YEAR LONG at AAA (so was McNeil) and they won't even call him up. Why ???? Why insist on playing these old shits ? What benefit????

You make this joke but it was going to happen over actual prospects like literally 2 months ago, but he's out for the season with an injury. You'd hear new and new hints every week that he was going to be called up soon. It's no joke. It's real life. Thats the weirdest thing about it, we've been such a good home team for so many years.

Best answer I could give is this team lives and dies with the home run and Dodger Stadium in the right weather conditions can absolutely suppress the home run. Actual data doesn't actually correlate to this as well as you'd think though.
