Eh, I feel like none of the worst parts of the game will be as bad in the anime, because the anime rushes through everything without allowing it to have any impact. Even the really bad parts will be gone in a flash since there isn't time to cover them.

Hmm, I haven't really gotten that. I wasn't hoping for it to be just like the game, I was just hoping for it to be good. It's been slavishly faithful in almost every episode, and Ren's personality is a joke compared to Yu's. The battles, which have the biggest opportunity for creativity, are especially bad.

What are some things you thought were good in the game but better in the anime?

Eh, they haven't used Ren the way they used Narukami, but they have used him to have some good moments with the characters, like how he gave Ryuji and Ann the final push into their Persona awakenings. His interactions with Kawakami in the Operation Maidwatch episode were also good. I like the way they make fun of how silly P5's item acquisition would be in a non-video game setting, too. I'll agree with you that they haven't given the same attention to detail to battles that the P4 anime did (which was actually faithful to elemental strengths and weaknesses in battle). They've stayed largely true to the overall plot, but they've managed to work in little deviations and cameos, too.

In Automata, I ended up in the desert again trying to track down a different sidequest, so I found the third Jean-Paul admirer, and I also rescued the little robo-sister of another robot in Pascal's village, who has some interesting conversations with 9S. 2B isn't much for conversations, in typical Lightning fashion. When we return to the robot pacifist village, we get word that Goliaths have invaded the city ruins. We get to use our cool Gundam suits, and the ensuing boss fight is pretty easy.

However, the Goliath's explosion opens up a path underground, from which they intercept an ALIEN signal. They've been hiding underground for centuries, apparently, so now we're supposed to go down and figure out what the deal is. If they've been missing for that long, why didn't we just reclaim Earth in the meantime? Should be interesting to see what these ALIENS are all about.

In Automata, I collected a bunch of stamps, saw a surreal version of Romeo & Juliet, and hunted down some androids accused of attacking and stealing from the Resistance, only to find out that they didn't actually do that. I can only wonder where that's going to lead.

For now, I suppose I should finally go visit the aliens.

In further Automata news, that was rather anticlimactic. The reason the aliens haven't been seen for centuries...is because they've been dead for centuries. Apparently, the machines evolved past them and wiped them out because they were boring. The real enigma is man or some such, so now Adam and Eve (the previously naked Sephiroths who are now merely shirtless Sephiroths) want to find the remnants of humanity and dissect them to find out how they can be so complex and nuanced.

I appreciate the naming conventions here because Eve broke off from Adam, and according to the intel data, he can regenerate endlessly. I also appreciate the similarity to MGS3 in the Adam/Eve duo. I guess the real question is how many of these machines are like these two because the other machines we've encountered up to this point don't seem very advanced. They had to be in existence for a long time since these two were just very recently born unless they reincarnate or hibernate or something.

I didn't realize this until I started watching the show in order, but Gunther is just a background character for most of the first two seasons of Friends and barely ever speaks. His crush on Rachel doesn't even manifest itself until season three.

You should also sell bad chips (i.e. ones that cost more than maybe 1 or 2 more than the minimum cost for that rank to equip) since chip space is limited.

Can't I just fuse those into other chips?

Yeah, but if you fuse expensive chips you'll get expensive chips. You can eliminate some extra cost over time since fused chip levels round down, but if you start with +0 chips that cost like 8 or something you'll just end up with garbage.

I don't think I've even bothered trying to fish, but I haven't really been hard up for money yet either since the earliest part of the game. Money seems pretty easy to come by.

Yeah, the main reason you might need to farm is if you're trying to upgrade all of the weapons.

In more Automata news, I completed the forest castle, which entailed finding the robo-infant king just in time for him to get slaughtered by a rogue android named A2. We fight her for a little while before she runs away, but not before 9S asks her why she betrayed them, to which she responds that Command is the one who betrayed them. I've been suspecting since pretty early on that these supposed last vestiges of humanity are not to be trusted, and everything I've seen so far seems to confirm it.

also poor 9S you almost got 2B to call you Nines only for it to be snatched from you at the last moment

If you're good enough at platforming on the pillars/arches before the bridge to the castle you can get the Cypress Stick, which is the best weapon because it changes damage numbers into the Dragon Quest style

In Automata, I descended into the Flooded City and defeated a couple of gold robots, the smaller of which took forever to kill. After defeating the machines in the area, I was given clearance to use the Gundams...except I saw a red dot nearby, so I went to investigate and found an underground arena. Now 2B is a brunette.

Then we have a long sequence of events to destroy an immense machine that reminded me of fighting Sin in Operation Mi'ihen in FFX, except we actually killed the machine. The thing that hyped me the most was that remix of The Dark Colossus Destroys All (I think that was it anyway). Overall, a lot of fun. Afterward, 9S is missing, so now we've got to find him. I just got back to the Resistance Camp...and there are a couple of redheads sitting there, except I can't really interact with them. Could it be Devola and Popola?! Oh now I get to talk to them, and it is! That's interesting. Song of the Ancients remix incoming...? Wow, they also sell some pretty great new equipment.

Also, I did a sidequest that gave me a little insight into A2 and Anemone, which explains why she was initially shocked when she saw 2B. Speaking of which, that hair dye I won from that arena said that it's got 2B and A2, which makes me wonder if she's eventually going to become playable.

Beats me. I got it as a reward for beating the first level of the underground Colosseum, so I'm guessing not. I went with brunette, but there are like eight different colors. I'm also rocking the blue hair ribbon.
