Not that I've heard of, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if we even got 30!

We don't know for sure. They have hinted that there is quite a lot. In one scene we see Lora alone at Lv6 and later we see her with a full team at Lv30 fighting a Lv35 enemy. That's roughly the same as the bosses of Chapter 4 (Lv33 and 34). So maybe at least as much as the first four chapters of Xenoblade 2.

Nier Automata: The Bonus Boss / Emil's Determination Quest might have been the biggest heart-wrencher in the entire game for me. "Isn't that right, Kaine!? Even if it's pointless, you still have to do it! Because this is the world my friend tried to save!" god that still gets me. The emotion in Emil's voice seals it.

Though Nier Automata is in no short supply of moments like that.

I think the original Nier had more of them. More mind-blowing moments, too. Overall, the main cast is also better.

Eh. I'm not sure. Cast and cast chemistry is definitely stronger in Nier, helped immensely by the fact that it's actually a party of sorts. In Automata at best you have 2B and 9S together. The twists in Nier are better but in a way I think Automata is harmed by that because if you're familiar with Nier you already know a number of Automata's right off the bat.

Story is a tougher call. I think Nier still wins that but it's tough because I think they were aiming for different things and both do incredible work at what they're going for. Plus, I think Route C probably is the high point of both between the intro and 9S's descent into insanity.

It's really a tough call between the two, they're both amazing IMO.

Yeah, I think my expectations for crazy in Automata were so high that it didn't actually meet them. I do appreciate that Automata actually gave you a happy ending...by Yoko Taro's standards anyway. That might have been the craziest twist of all.

Yeah I don't care for it, but the important thing is just checking if the animal has a rare/useful ability like second chance or something and just keeping them in your party until they learn it.

What I do appreciate is how they were able to take playing as multiple characters like BBS but keep them integrated so you don't feel like you're doing things over again.

I just feel weird that I need to open the menu regularly to pet these things to give them boosts. If I wanted to raise animals, I'd play Harvest Moon.

As I've been rewatching Friends, I've been trying to figure out who the other good duos are on that show. Joey/Chandler is obviously the GOAT, but I've come to the conclusion that I really like Ross/Phoebe, mostly because they're polar opposites of each other. They make for really good foils in scenes that focus on the two of them. I think Phoebe generally has good chemistry with everyone though. They don't have scenes together that often, but I think Chandler/Rachel moments end up being pretty great, too.

And on the topic of KH and since I'm almost done with DMC3, decided to go back and take a look at that Dante/Vergil vs Sora/Riku and came across Sora's Contest History.

Hilarious that every writeup since 2006 has being hyping that Sora will get stronger next time when KH3 comes out.

honestly Sora will be stronger this year before KH3 comes out moreso than when the game actually comes out because we've repeatedly seen that pre-release hype often boosts strength more than post-release hype

whether he maintains that strength will depend on how well it's received

I just hope they keep Sora far away from any and all FF characters this year

I guess I misremembered. I thought he confirmed it would be a Character Battle, but maybe not. I'm not sure what else it would be other than just a total gimmick contest like Years (please no). It seems like the most likely option because I don't think he'll run another Games Contest yet.

Not really, unless you just want to switch right away.

If you're on your last bar, maybe just in case there's a boss coming up. The game CAN drop you in the middle of boss fights and makes you repeat the whole fight.

Oh right, I forgot to mention that I finished the second Baccano light novel last night. Isaac and Miria are the two best characters in that series, but Jacuzzi is probably #3 for me. I had forgotten just how good he is here until I read the book.

Anyway, I finished the City of Clocks with both Sora and Riku. I haven't actually seen The Hunchback of Notre Dame, so I can't really comment on how good of an adaptation it was. Sora's version was more fun than Riku's though. The Organization guy (whom I assumed was Xemnas but apparently isn't since neither Sora nor Riku recognize him) tells Sora his own heart is a prison, although he isn't the prisoner (referring to Roxas and/or Ventus, I'm sure). I also enjoyed the random Vanitas appearance.

In Riku's version, Heartless Ansem shows back up, and it doesn't seem to be the Chain of Memories version either. Then we cut to Axel thinking about Roxas and waking up to find out they're all people again. Death seems to be cheaper in Kingdom Hearts than it is in comic books, even! Axel (or should I call him Lea now) comments that Xehanort, Braig, and Isa are nowhere to be seen. I wonder why he's the only one wearing the black robe.
