Another loss for the Marlins, gonna be hard to keep up with the Reds.

When so many teams appear to be tanking like this, isn't the benefit reduced?

I don't know how the rules changed, but doesn't baseball still have a good amount, of top draft picks falling down the board, because the teams picking early, are too cheap to sign them?

I know the Marlins have often done moves involving their international bonus pool, so that they could remain cheap.

I think staying cheap is the entire philosophy behind the Marlins rebuilding philosophy right now. But i question whether they have the organization capable of capitalizing that and growing enough talent from within.

If we are able to do work against their bullpen today its going to come back to that strenuous at bat knocking the starting pitcher out early.

The Marlins have to deal with about $400 million in debt that got loaded on by Loria and was part of the sale. Partly it's MLB's fault for approving a sale to an ownership group that would need to cut the team to the bone for several years to pay off the debt, but it's not clear that there were any prospective buyers that would have the left the team better off.

Also. Replay is still broken. After Matheny already used his replay (on the first play of the game no less), when Bruce hit the go ahead HR he asked the umpires to check if Bruce stepped on first or not. Ump initated so didn't count as using a challenge, but how can the umps agree to re-look at something like that??? Does that mean they weren't paying attention initially as he rounded the bases? Why would they agree to look?

3rd time in the last like 8 games where a mets starter went 7+ sterling IP and then the Mets lost due to defense, bullpen, and/or some combination thereof. When Syndergaard or whoever gives you 7 and no runs , and shitty defense allows runs and the lead is gone..... and that happens THREE TIMES IN A WEEK, theres a chance you may not be as good of a team as you thought... glad we had this crazy cushion but starting to see everything slowly fall apart...

It's been a nice week and a half for the giants and it feels like a well earned .500 record. If we can keep this up until we play the dbacks in June then that will be a pretty important series for the division.

And after facing the dodgers 10 times in month of April we wont see them again until August. Good riddance!
