this mets-nats game is ultra special. its so sloppy from every angle. especially mets defense. yet for every bad defensive play they keep hunter pencing themselves into getting around or out of it

seth lugo just dropped the throw covering first and kind of hackysacked the ball into his bare hand to get the out.

I was 1 day off from watching a 14 inning walk off home run victory.

Instead I get to watch a 10 inning snooze fest that was only occasionally broken up by the occasional almost-rally that was repeatedly squelched by great (lucky!) catches in the outfield. We scored 1 run and could easily have scored 5+ if on a couple of key plays the ball had just dropped a split second sooner.

There was however one catch by Puig that I'm still not entirely certain was a catch. It looked very much like he had caught it against the ground and that was what ruined one of our numerous chances to get things done offensively.

But on the bright side Kershaw got a no-decision for his brilliant effort so he's still 0-2. Sucker

This is probably true. I think the Rangers will hit 100 in the last week of the season if nothing changes. They're playing some amazingly shit baseball.

Travis d'Arnaud partial torn UCL. Probably will need surgery miss the season.

Not surprising that the bad thing was going to happen to the Mets admist a good thing happening, as it always does. But, as brutal injuries and "bad Mets things" go, this is relatively manageable. Sucks for Travis who is made of absolute glass

but he never quite lived up to his offensive potential anyway, and while he has shown flashes, especially the end of last year, he was platooning with Plawecki anyway ,and neither honestly is a huge producer- there's not much dropoff from d'Arnaud to plaw. However, Mets still are interested in JT Realmuto, so this may work well too.

The guy the Mets called up to replace d'Arnaud is prospect Tomas Nido, who has a fantastic arm. It should be nice to have one guy who can hit (maybe) and one who can throw runners out. We'll see.

Feel real bad for Travis though. I've met/talked to him and he's really nice.

Wheeler pitched a goddamn gem.

Plawecki, the Mets other catcher who I mentioned before, got drilled on his hand. So we'll see if the mets lose both their catchers for the season in the same day or not "lol". But they weren't really contributing much anyway. Still, get Jeter on the phone. If he's hurt, bring us Realmuto.
