City Streets 2 (Mango Tango) - Why a vocal song from DDN tho? Ah well, not a fan of Kobe City anyway.

Laguerra del Mundo - Both of these are great! I think they're my favorite two tracks today? Would be cool to see one retire so it can get out of the contest.

Xeus - Sunrise Purple is a pretty alright classic song. Not something I'd listen to on its own, but solid BGM. Xeus would probably be better if it were 2 minutes instead of 5, but I still like it!

One Night in Neo Kobe City - City Streets 2 is pretty damn good, but I feel like the vocals dampen my enjoyment a bit. Not significantly, but noticeably. One Night in Neo Kobe City is about the same level of groove, but once it's over it's kind of forgettable. Very hard choice.

Laguerra del Mundo - I love Besaid Island's instrumentation so much. But Laguerra is a straight banger, so. Sorry Hamauzu.

Sunrise Purple - I love how the different instruments react to one another in Sunrise Purple, especially in the beginning. It's like listening in on an FM conversation. Xeus manages to go nowhere while also being all over the place. If there's a shorter version on Xeus in the game but the extended version was picked instead then the shorter version would've received my vote probably.

Or it's a fifteen-year-old Windows system. With how many errors I make, it wouldn't surprise me if this contest was running on an antiquated Microsoft OS.

Mango Tango is way too 80s for me. (I think that style was popular in the 80's? Idk that was before I was born I'm just guessing.) Meanwhile Neo Kobe City, the song that evidently was actually released in the 80's, actually sounds really cool. Got a really good jazz/funk vibe going on here, and the sax part is pretty great.

I liked Laguerra del Mundo somewhat more than I remember from prior years. I definitely don't like that one guitar riff that plays a bunch of times, but other than that it does some pretty neat stuff. I especially like the section at around 3:15. Meanwhile Besaid has always been in the "good but not great" section of the FFX soundtrack for me. Voting Laguerra here, but this might go differently if it happened on a different day.

Don't care a whole lot about either song in the side bracket, but Xeus does have some good parts and is never actively bad.

DD Neon's Mango Tango isn't nearly as good an 80s-style soundtrack as songs in other games like, say, Drift Stage are. It just can't compare here, against a seriously legit 80s song.

Sorry azuarc, I like Laguerra but you keep putting it in places where it's always up against songs that I like more than it. Pretty sure I haven't voted for it in the last 8 matches it's been in, like last time would've been back in VGMC9... Actually, I'm not even sure I did then... Point is I don't consider it bad at all, and it's getting kind of sad. At least it's probably going to win here and secure yet another chance to face a song I like more, assuming the Snatcher song wins here.

Almost missed round 1 because of indecisiveness, then actually missed round 2 for the same reason... But, honestly, this batch was easy for me.

I probably have a huge cheese bias, Mango Tango's my definitely favorite of these. Some of the lyrics have this great flow to them imo, wish I could explain why.

It's so 80s and I love it.

Best day so far in terms of quality; every song is good in its own merits.

Both songs in the first match have a strong 80's vibe, specially Mango Tango.

Besaid Island is the weakest song of the day, but it's still pleasant to listen too while looking at a nice landscape. Meanwhile, Granado Espada and the title of their songs crack me up with their butchered Spanish, but what I've heard from it is quite amazing.

Xeus is the best song of the day, and maybe so far (I still remember having heard of it many years ago and liking it a lot, specially at 1:47). Sunrise Purple's not bad though.

I like the instrumentation, and the vocals for Mango Tango weren't my favorite. I don't like Besaid Island at all so Laguerra del Mundo would have probably won by default, but it's also pretty cool anyway. I remember liking it last year too, maybe this will be its year. Don't like either of the side bracket songs much but Xeus doesn't annoy me so it wins.

OK, finally got some time to have a vote.

OK. Mango Tango would be my vote if there was more to the song. But there's too much empty space, and it feels like the vocals are the lead instrument, so you're waiting for the song to loop back to the beginning - and that space could easily be taken up by another vocal portion or something. And the empty space only gets bigger over time, from 15, to 30, to 60 seconds.

Whereas Neo Kobe City leads up to its chorus part slowly - starting with the bassline, then introducing the trumpet 25 seconds in with a police siren - eventually it gets to the chorus melody. Afterwards, it has some canned sound effects, before moving back to that beginning melody from the first part - except this time, there's string instruments; and it runs through the melody (discounting the siren), getting to the chorus.

At the point where it would go to the sound effects before, it instead decides to do a trumpet solo for the rest of the song. The song's well structured, and that's why I like it more than City Streets 2 (Mango Tango)

funny wooping noises in the background vs. generic metal wailing. let's go! The reason I'm voting for Besaid over Laguerra Del Mundo is because the beat of Besaid actually managed to keep my attention for the whole song, unlike Laguerra Del Mundo; where I basically stopped listening within the first ten seconds.

Sunrise Purple has a shuffling beat, a friendly-sounding bass pattern, and a chiming FM synth lead with occasional key interludes. I like it, and it sounds house-ish, I guess? Most importantly, it all connects.

Xeus on the other hand just feels like a bunch of keyboard riffs and string instruments being played over an ambient background up until the lead melody starts around a minute in... for around a minute, before it fades out for a minute of more ambient background and strings. I like the parts where that lead melody actively plays, but when it doesn't; it frustrates me.
