that being said my Rattling Rascal meme rogue deck is hilarious

tempo out youthful brewmaster on turn 2 because my opponent seemed to be playing some janky version of pirate warrior. at this point he's probably confused as hell because nobody would play youthful brewmaster ever.

rattling rascal on turn 4. then I shadowstep him.
rattling rascal again on turn 5, for only 2 mana, then I shadowstop him again.
rattling rascal again on turn 6.

shadowstrike, eviscerate, eviscerate on turn 7 for overkill lethal with my three 5/5's on board and his life total already low

(shadowstrike was to remove his taunt)

Shifting Scroll is going to piss half of this topic off.

And now that everything is out, I asked the same thing in the last two expansions about quests and DKs, what order does everyone put the legendary weapons in? I'm thinking...

Mage>Paladin>Priest>Rogue>Shaman>Hunter>Druid>Warrior>Warlock

Though I'm really not sure outside of Mage looking like the best. Paladin and Rogue are probably my favorites, hope one of those is my free legendary, or at the very least not the last three.

Paladin > Rogue > Mage > Priest > Druid > Warlock > Warrior > Hunter > Shaman

For Legendary Minions

Rogue > Shaman > Paladin > Warrior > Hunter I guess > Mage > Druid > Warlock > Priest

draw Darkness

play Darkness

Outside of Kabal classes, there's very little single-target spell removal that actually sees play, and current control decks in all three of those classes still have ways around it. I don't think HS's hexproof is going to be as L:UQTO(UP:U-inducing as the MtG version for that reason.

Oh, okay. I'll take out the sap, vilespine, vanish, and plague scientist from my rogue deck then. And it's not like execute and shield slam go in warrior. Hex and devolve, deadly shot, hell I've even seen druids running Naturalize lately. That just leaves paladin, and they can always make him follow the rules.

I agree with this. I mean, I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about The Darkness once it starts getting used, but from a design perspective, yes.

Should have also made it three casts of Magic Missile imo.

Stealth does already kind of take Hexproof's slot, so I really don't want to see this become a recurring thing in Hearthstone. Like Ulti, I have been on both sides of Hexproof hell. It was cool when it was on a few select cards, not a bunch in every friggin set.

In fairness, Animate Dead was a weird-ass card from the very first set when there was no templating, comprehensive rules, etc. Just general rule ideas and an emphasis on flavor. They had to retrofit the templating hardcore to make it work like it originally did while still being consistent with the comp rules.

Partial Paris would make combo decks in Magic absolutely busted. While getting mana screwed absolutely sucks, the very architecture of the game is built around the mana system. They can't just drop it.

But like you said, Hearthstone doesn't have that problem, so if the mana system is a dealbreaker, you're in the right place.

Scrubthoughts: (caveat: subpar ranked, okay arena player)

Im not sure how much this expansion actually incentivized weapon hate? Of the legendary weapons, you end up wanting to destroy Druid some of the time (maybe at 6 mana and up?), Mage, Priest, Warlock, Shaman and Warrior. Warrior and Shaman are really slow when they go off. Mage weapon mostly fits into Aggro decks imo, since control decks will end up running against the hand limit, and there isnt a way to destroy your own weapon aside from Medivh.

The Rogue weapon seems like it could be really strong in the right deck. Paladin weapon is just good, though being weak against priest (silence, shuffle) hurts. Warlock weapon seems playable, cheating out doomguards/voidlords/dreadlords seems good.

The theme of this set seems like a lot of internal synergy, arena should be interesting unless you pick warrior. Also nerfing evolve seems like a thing that was probably considered.

Carnivorous cube, corridor keeper, arcane tyrant, void ripper seem like viable neutral epics, the rest seem mostly niche.

Most of the neutral rares seem playable, maybe some like Ettin find their way into constructed?

Neutral commons seem to have a bunch of strong cards again, plated beetle seems like a sneaky solid card. Maybe Wax Elemental sees some play in a Mage built around the spellstone or big spells?

Stupid bold prediction: explosive runes shows up in an aggro Mage deck that has success.

Stealth goes away once the card is used, so I really enjoy how this game does it. It makes sense logically that you'd be able to get targeted once you move. I can even live with the anti-magic shell effect, because it affects both players. If hexproof ends up in this game and we get stupid shit like paladin-only hexproof cards, this game will turn to shit real fast.

Putting it as an under-statted neutral epic is probably a way to test how broken it can be and prevent future mistakes?

Eh, Explosive Rune may actually replace Entity in Secret Mage, and with the Weapon in the deck being able to draw burn isn't too hard

Feel like that's the key with the Mage Weapon, Control and Exodia probably don't run it because it's hard to dump your hand to consistently get four cards off, but a aggressive burn mage may

It doesn't have Magic's shit-awful mana system that Wizards refuses to update. Even after the finals of a pro tour saw someone lose because they had to mull to 3, all they did was add a dumb scry rule instead of just going partial paris (Hearthstone's mulligan, basically).

There's also a lot of other stupid shit, like the Pithing Needle ruling and all the rules lawyer idiots who defended it. I want no parts of a community that fucking scummy. Hearthstone's goal was taking everything bad about Magic and getting rid of it for a streamlined experience, which is great.

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Animate%20Dead

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=159823

If your explanation is longer than the text on the card, your game probably sucks.

those cards are hella old from back when you theoretically liked the game, I don't understand why you would bring them up at this point

a judge at a professional tournament should enforce letter of the rule, not spirit of the rule. i don't know why you'd complain about that.

games with that much money on the line aren't casual FNM's!

also the majority of the Gatherer rulings there are for gaining control of a turn (which, in terms of rule minutiae (NO BOBBY YOU DON'T GET TO SIT IN YOUR OPPONENT'S SEAT DEAR GOD), is kind of a minefield, for better or for worse) or standard rules clarifications intended for new players. I don't think it proves any point.
