So I went to a holiday party for my wife's company and met a Blizzard web site designer. He has a master's in computer science, the works. Cool dude. His favorite game is Hearthstone, and we (me, him, and his boyfriend) actually started playing it at the table. This game is super fun in person with people, and the dude is setting me up with these random perks and free virtual Blizzcon tickets each year.

To the point. He agrees that skill means absolutely nothing in Hearthstone, which is the entire design of the game; the entire thing was designed to be casual fun, and he can't believe people want to make an e-sport out of it. "It will never work as competitive e-sport like Overwatch or League, because we're gradually increasing the randomness each expansion. I can't reveal much about upcoming sets, but our goal is increasing the RNG factor by 3-5% per set until we get it between 40 and 50%. There's a magic number somewhere in there that we hope to find."

why would a website designer know what the hearthstone design team's goals are. He's saying "we" in your story as if he is remotely involved in the game.

I think the worst part is that this leaves a 2/3 chance that you summon Leokk, which gives +1 attack to your other minions, you know, the ones you didn't put in your deck.


To My Side is sooooooooooo bad.

Hunter has a bunch of ways to summon minions with their spells though. All their 3 mana minions from secrets, hounds, the new spell stone, animal companion. They could run infest to play with tokens too, I guess?

Realistically though, the only way it works right now is with the gimmick Barnes/YShaarj deck.

e: it might just be in this set as another option for the spell joust or reveal a spell cards though.

if you've drawn Barnes, YOU ALREADY WON. you don't need to play To My Side on turn 6. and if you don't draw Barnes then you play To My Side on turn 6 and it only triggers once instead of twice because B/Y are still in your deck.

also more druid ramp (though this seems quite a bit weaker since you have to proc it the next turn most likely, probably more for when Blossom and Mire Keeper rotate)

SHaman is dead until raza rotates so it can run control or it gets early game that can compete with rogue and Druid specifically.

lmfao just had a game. Im playign raza priest and my aggro druid opponent of course has living mana on 5 AND 6. Like I clear the first time but i dont have it for the second one.

So I have like 7 mana. I play lyra, Radiant, and PWS. I Get the following spells in this order - > PoM (from the draw), Holy Smite, Silence, Binding Heal, Silence, Pom, Purify.

yeah microadjustments simply do not work. they make it less likely that I'll draft Bonemare. if I play arena a lot I'll still see Bonemare plenty. and in cases like this it can simply happen 4 times in 4 games and it's not even that uncommon. the offering rate might be reduced but people will pick the card every time it's offered because it's a 7 mana 9/9
