This. The professor is to blame for this entire situation and he should be sacked. I agree with Golden Road that the students involved are basically emotionally driven animals and therefore should not have any responsibility for this or in general. When someone disagrees with your religion in such a fundamental way, a reasonable person would understand this sort of reaction. It just makes sense.

Which is another reason why I've been wondering if any of this is real, since you'd think at least somebody like Fox would run with it. Granted, I guess it's possible Fox has been running with it and nobody knows about it because the extent of our Fox exposure is clips played on other programs and those are pretty cherry-picked.

I see your points and laugh at them all. There's no validity to the "no whites day" or the protest and the only right action was to conduct business as usual, otherwise the kids don't learn what things are like in the real world or, even worse, are given the clout to somebody harm the real world. And, if there's an ensuing shit storm, the only rational response would be to break out a shovel and start handing out disciplinary action.

Except you forget that when he tried to just conduct business as usual, that's when he was confronted by the angry mob. His words came AFTER all normal activities had been disrupted and he had personally been assailed. More importantly, there's zero merit to the idea of "avoiding outrage" when particular positions are justified. Historically, policies of appeasement have never worked out well for the surrendering party.

And, of course, when people aren't being rational, it rarely benefits anybody to just capitulate. One of the few exceptions is if you're trying to sleep with a crazy chick because, even though you know you're putting up with nonsense, you want to sleep with her.

Like, just writing a blog all about stupid stuff white /men do, would get you experience for a job at Salon.
