A white jewish professor wrote an open letter saying why he thinks it is a bad idea for everyone. The students have basically formed a mob protest and taken over the school with a bunch of ridiculous demands including the professor's termination and for all of their homework to no longer be assigned to them. Any reasonable person would've seen that shit storm coming when they start talking about white people being oppressed. Either the professor was deliberately adding fuel to the fire, or he was just an idiot. Neither speaks very well of him. This. The professor is to blame for this entire situation and he should be sacked. I agree with Golden Road that the students involved are basically emotionally driven animals and therefore should not have any responsibility for this or in general. When someone disagrees with your religion in such a fundamental way, a reasonable person would understand this sort of reaction.
