Aware of my own shortcomings? Sure. To the point of hating myself? Never.
Myths are merely teaching guides. They become problematic when treated as dogma. Hence fighting over whose belief is "true" in inevitable yet pointless and even deadly. We're deep into science and information age, but global politics is still dominated by religion (humans are pathetic.)
The core issue with the term atheism is that acknowledges theism is even a valid stance. That is, atheists would be better served by other terms, like rationalism.
