You're using it because it's better for team communication and that can help you win 2. You're using it because you want to be social. I don't care enough about playing the game to absolute peak form for the slight communication upgrade to be worth firing the thing up. I also think it's actually a hindrance when you've got pubs on your team. I don't care enough about "being social" that I need to hear voices and yack about everything-- I don't generally get too much more out of that than I do from just playing the game with friends and using the chat interface. If someone was literally in the same room with me it'd be different but yeah. Never been much of a phone guy, for what that's worth, I suppose. I mean I can carry a conversation on a phone but I was always the type to just go visit someone if they wanted to have a long social phone call. So yeah the thing's existence basically vexes me. Maybe someday I'll shake off my bitterness towards it and actually enjoy it. Whoo vent discussion how fascinating. -- No problem! Granted that reason alone would be reason enough, but it just makes the entire gaming experience also a social one. We've been playing games together for years now and it wouldn't be half as enjoyable if we didn't actually talk to each other at the same time. Dara is a reasonably new addition to our vent community, maybe he can tell you why it's so good. Also without voice programs we wouldn't get an hour of people trying and failing to pronounce "canonically inedible" in the middle of the night. Left control was awful for TF2, because crouching at inopportune times is bad and stupid. So now if I were to ever change it from left shift, I would take forever to adjust.
