Does having duplicate charms do anything because I'm currently really fuckin annoyed I spent 3 gold charms to get a duplicate of a rare charm that I didn't even care for having 1 of, why are duplicate charms a thing

Yeah, the charms system sucks. All 4 drop tables (GGG, SSS, GGS, SSG tokens) are locked in at the start of your playthrough, so unless you get lucky early, there's a good chance you'll be making little to no use of them outside of NG+.

My only charms so far when looking through all the tables as far into the distance as I can given my current tokens have been for increased chance of extra ammo when crafting for weapons I don't use, the decreased rocket launcher cost (which I won't even use until NG+ for the infinite rocket launcher), decreased body armor repairs (I only now got to the part of the game where body armor can be purchased and probably won't want to waste money on this anyway), and the ability to resell weapons for 20% extra (only applies to the base selling value of the weapon, and I'm only going to do this at the end of the run to have more money for NG+ anyway).

I got those before I understood how the system worked, and now that I've gotten 3 stars on the first 6 shooting ranges, there's no point in getting more charms until I get to the final gallery, so I can see which use of tokens provides the most benefit. The only one that I could currently unlock that seemed particularly good for this playthrough is the rhinoceros beetle to sell healing items for double the usual price, but I've already sold so many by this point (eggs, fish, vipers), there's not much point in unlocking it now, and I have no way of knowing if it'll show up farther down in a different table that provides more beneficial charms anyway, so no use in potentially wasting tokens now.

The only charm I've won that was worth anything is the -5% weapon upgrade one, which is still the least exciting thing possible.

You can get the job done with the hand cannon but the accuracy isn't the best when trying to hit weak spots. Seems to take a few hits to down a shield guy as well. The sweeper just lets you spray and pray so accuracy doesn't matter.

Chicago Sweeper is a lot weaker than Chicago Typewriter from the original. The a Typewriter had a fixed power of 10.0, which was almost magnum level. Whereas the Sweeper when fully upgraded is 2.0 which is similar to a maxed out pistol.

Got the platinum trophy. Combined the no merchant, no heal, pistol/knife only into one run. The matilda is a beast with the stock and infinite ammo. It's basically a machine gun if you keep tapping the trigger as you shoot. Also enjoyed using the punisher to take out a crowd and it sounds great.

Still waiting to pop my platinum until I need it for the trophy contest

Just got a no healing run to do and then I'm going to decide which method I'm going to use to get the handcannon. Then once that's done, that'll be the platinum for me too.

I had forgotten how fun it was to speedrun RE4. The remake is just as good as the original in that regard. Just sped through a no healing run with rocket launcher and sweeper in 2:15 and had a blast!

That was my 7th completed playthrough and I'm still not bored of it

I just casually started playthrough 4 last night to get S Rank Pro (not attempting S+ until I have the rocket), and was amazed that I felt no sense of exhaustion.

Felt like I might need to step back when I'd did the Lodge Picture Lock from memory though lol.

1h12m on Professional Village, shaved 7 minutes off my hardcore!

Though really with the handcannon there's no meaningful difference between the two other than checkpoints.

This topic might be a little higher on RE4make than I am, so I hesitate slightly to post this... but does this guy have a leg to stand on?

He originally titled the video "Soul vs Soulless" but got ratio'd/flamed hard, so he changed the title to what we see now lol. While I do think he shouldn't have gone for such a tryhard original title (this isn't a souless remake by any means - the dev team clearly cared), I do feel there are many aspects of it that just can't live up to the original.

Pretty much the entire internet has been clowning on this guy since the minute this went up, and before that I'd never even heard of him.

I watched like 2 minutes of the video and had no idea what they were even trying to do with it, so I stopped.

I did see a clip of it where he implies it's bad that Ashley no longer calls you a pervert for trying to look up her skirt, so that's the kind of loser were dealing with here.

I'm really surprised at the response to the video because I've always seen nothing but good things from Crowbcat over the years. I didn't mind the video personally and I do think some of the comparisons are valid while others were definite reaches.

4 runs so far and still haven't found all the little dolls.

I want that damn knife for my Professional S+ run so guess I'm about to blaze through assisted with infinite ammo Chicago and Handcannon.

Maybe I'll get enough money for the infinite rocket too! I I'm at 1.1 mil now but have some fully upgraded weapons to sell...

I still don't understand the point of getting duplicate charms from the shooting range coins, they sell for basically fucking nothing and I feel like I completely wasted my pull when I roll one

66 minutes on Pro, 5 saves in, just reached the castle.

I think doing a casual run through pro(up to chapter 12 on that one), and just doing this a few chapters back is making the S+ run infinitely easier.

The craziest thing I've seen so far from internet discourse is that there are a LOT of people who think the ending creates some sort of branching timeline because Ada doesn't give Wesker the amber.

Ada never gave it to Wesker in the original either. He always went back and scraped up some stuff from Krauser. In fact I think the only time he's been given something is the G sample from Ada in 2.

Yeah the only thing that changed is in the original she had always planned to double cross Wesker as she works for a rival organisation, i think? Whereas in the remake she decides to betray him last minute as she doesn't agree with what Wesker will use it for

At the point in my Pro S+ run where I need to be more careful about my saves. Currently trying to get through the gauntlet of the two gigantes, the mine cart section, and the intitial krauser fight/introduction. I have 10 saves, on chapter 11, so at this point I pretty much need to clear chapters before I save again. Oops.

I keep dying at the cart part, mostly on me, but these ganados got some killer aim it seems. It's bizarre because my casual pro run on this part I almost went through perfectly.

For the "pistol and knife only" run, do I start it by opening my inventory and sending all of my non-pistols to storage? And I can have multiple types of pistols and knives on me to switch between as necessary?

And do grenades count against the achievement?

Honestly I kind of think Luis's character was a bit too straightforward, like it's very tell-don't-show to have him constantly say "I'm trying to atone for my past actions so I can feel better about myself!", humans aren't normally so self-aware and just speak their motivations out loud like that. And he did it like 3 times! I do like him though and it's still a major improvement over the original.

Yes, move everything to storage. You can gave multiple handguns.

The only exceptions where you can use other weapons are:-

• You are allowed to shoot explosive barrels throughout the game
• You are allowed to use the Harpoons during Del Lago boss fight (Chapter 3)
• You are allowed to kill enemies with Cannons in the castle (Chapter 7+8)
• You are allowed to have enemies get killed with the wrecking ball (Chapter 14)
• You are allowed to kill enemies with the machine guns on the Island (Chapter 15)
• You are allowed to use the Special Rocket Launcher at the end of Saddler Boss Fight (Chapter 16)

You can check the counter under Challenges > Main Story > Minimalist, it has to stay at 0. If you use anything that voids this trophy the Challenge counter will be 1 or higher. Its best to check this counter after each chapter and to save in a different slot after each chapter, in case something goes wrong you can reload the nearest save and replay from there.

he may be saying it so much to overcompensate, because thats not exactly the full story. He does still have his deal with Ada, and was presumably hoping to get his hands on the amber to complete that deal. I think he genuinely does want to help Leon and Ashley, but doing so is also his best chance of getting away from the cult.

eyy I cleared a mil in mercenaries (Island with Krauser)

Beat it on Professional without any bonus weapons (though I abused the hell outta Cat Ears) and scored a perfect game in the shooting range so I can finally say

CUZ BOREDOM KILLS ME (101/101 in-game Challenges complete)

With more playtime under my belt, I now feel my initial impressions may have been a bit too critical - I chalk that up to this being a remake of one of my favorite games ever. This was an excellent remake, lovingly crafted by a development team that largely understood many of the things that made the original an instant classic. The gameplay is addictive with an even larger assortment of fun weapons to experiment with, attention to detail pours out of every corner, and the pacing is tight with very few missteps.

I still don't think it hits quite the same peak as RE2Make (which well and truly blew me away), but this still stands as one of the finest entries in one of gaming's great franchises.

With the old-school fan in me fully sated (I really can't expect anything else after this and RE2 just a few years apart - hell even RE3 wasn't COMPLETE crap), the only thing I hope for now is that Capcom isn't listening to any of this forum talk about RE5. If they're gonna keep this train a-chuggin, the next stop is obvious

REsident Evil: Code REronica time

I started it a couple of days ago, then was busy, but I got to Mendes' house.

I think it is good so far and is giving me something of a challenge, which is nice when I've got the original down to like a science, but there's a couple of things that just aren't as good. The original had absolutely perfect sound design for instance. The feedback to the player was just endlessly satisfying, and it isn't here.

Also, when Hunnigan is talking to me during gameplay, I can't hear her lines, only Leon's. Is it supposed to do that?

Hunnigans voice by default should be coming through the controller I believe. You haven't got anything plugged into the jack have you, or turned the controller volume down (if possible)
