Good to know. I've just quickly rushed through chapter 1 on pro. Managed to do it in 16 minutes but i didn't bother trying to kill anything in the village. Interesting to note that the sledgehammer guy and farmers chase you right up to the bit where you have to push the cart out of the way. I'm gonna see how far i get doing this but i have a feeling Gigante or Mendez will destroy me if i don't have enough cash to upgrade stuff. I'd try the skips but i doubt i'd get them to work.

Up to chapter 8 on my pro run. Hardest part for me was the opening village part because my PC's graphics settings keep fucking up for some reason causing my FPS to drop to 20 and I'd get swarmed lol. (For some reason the game stopped detecting some of my RAM after the mercs update, but I got that fixed).

Once I fixed that I've been doing ok. The catapults on the castle part fucked me up a few times too.

However I'm not speeding through this and also just using this run to do some challenges/achievements that I missed on my initial play through. I'm going to start my S+ run tonight now that I got a good idea on how to map things out.

Yeah I'm going to be doing fresh file Professional mode to get handcannon

Nothing more depressing than clearing room of 10 men and plagas and every one of them drops cash.

Krauser 2 is fucked

He shrugs off 7 headshots from the maximum power Broken Butterfly, and this AFTER the gauntlet you have to go through to even get to this phase of the fight with no saves.

Time to buy my first rocket launcher I suppose lol.

It would appear that as long as the target activates a cutscene upon death, you cannot kill yourself with your own rocket launcher, even point blank.

Started my S+ pro run, while still doing my casual pro run. Had no idea how far some enemies will follow you. The barn bull guy and a bunch of other villagers just followed me beyond the bridge and I had to run around in circles to give myself enough time to push the cart away without getting hit...because I would have died. Finished chapter 1 in 13 minutes though.

I just throw a flash, gives you just enough time.

Ha, smart. Didn't have one on me though, but that's all I will be crafting.

I've just done the cabin on my run after like 20 deaths. That sledgehammer guy is no joke on pro. If you aren't at full health he one shots you.

Nobody dislikes your performance because your Asian, they hate it because it's straight up unironically on the level with Chaos Wars on the PS2.

In her kinda-sorta-defense-ish, after a full playthrough under my belt, I now find Krauser's VA performance to be just as bad! Hell, maybe worse ROOKIE

I like this Krauser tbqh. He is a bundle of nerves and PTSD, is clearly hanging on by the slimmest of threads, and wants Leon to kill him. Instead of just generic tough guy number four.

So I've actually never played a Resident Evil game before and I decided to finally take the plunge by playing REMake 1 yesterday in front of an audience of friends. It's been, uh, an experience so far! I know it's not the right game to talk about but some pretty funny shit happened:

-I apparentely accidentally took the path of most zombie resistance first (while playing on hard mode out the gate because of course I'd play hard mode). Ammo was nonexistent for the first several hours! On the plus side, the second floor of the mansion sure is picked clean of zombos now.
-I took so long that my first Crimson Head got up before I reached the intended point for them to rise, according to onlookers. Also according to onlookers, my scream when I got jumped by the first one could literally be heard throughout their houses.
-I went with Jill first because I wanted to hear the Jill Sandwich line and I have yet to hear it. No master of unlocking line either! Boo hiss
-Seriously tho how do people PLAY this game with Chris holy fuck. Six inventory slots only?????
-That fuckin corridor with the cracking glass on the east wing, yo. I called that it was gonna be a bossfight room and everyone was like 'nah man there's no bossfight there' but I knew, I KNEW there was gonna be game. And then not one but two dogs broke through the windows and I started swearing like a sailor because of course it was gonna be doggos.

Man what a good game in general. I can see why RE1 was so influential back in the day. It's a really old game but the experience is phenomenal, and holding up perfectly so far.

Krauser felt like someone doing their impression of an evil version of Hank from Breaking Bad

Ada sounds like it was one take, reading directly from a script, wasn't trying.

Sadly, 'master of unlocking' was removed from the remake. Jill Sandwich is sorta still there, but you have to do a specific thing to trigger it.

But as you can see from my ranking REMake is a masterpiece so I envy you right now playing for the first time.

Chapter 8 clockwork castellan took me forever to figure out. Only other one that I missed on my initial play through was chapter 16, which I think I have a good idea of where it's at.

No there definitely has been shades of racism coming out due to it, just being able to be shrouded under the very legitimate criticism of her job in the game.

I don't know whether it was the actor or the script they had him reading, but i didn't like Krauser either. The whole thing reminded me of the bad guy from Universal Soldier.

REMake 1 beaten! Man what a good-ass videogame. Just an incredibly tight, polished experience. Highlights from the back end of the game:

-FUCK those sharks, and especially the big one. Neptunes I think they were called? That was the one room I only fired warning shots in and hoofed it otherwise. Oneshots ain't cool.
-I became a Jill sandwich! ...By getting crunched against the wall in the first two statues puzzle. Tank controls + precision movement is something I never wanna see again, oof.
-Barry leaving me alone with Lisa Trevor is a true Top 10 anime betrayal. I chose to trust the second go around though and it paid off. Everyone made it out of the mansion alive!
-Holy shit screw those weird roach dude men or whatever they were at the tail end. They never killed me (I was absolutely loaded for bear with a ton of ammo for every single heavy duty gun) but they were terrifying and weirdly patient. I legit waited like two whole minutes at one point for one of them to strike me and he camped me out...and it turns out it was actually a clown car of three of the critters dropping down one by one. I actually yelped out loud at that and burnt magnum shots to put them down instead of the shotgun or grenade launcher ones I used afterward.

Phenomenal game, truly. A profoundly satisfying time. Makes me wanna go play another RE immediately, which is honestly the highest praise anyone can give a game I think. I'm given to understand both RE2 and RE2Make should be played because they're not really superior to one another and are very different? Is that correct?

2classix is going to be the hardest to play controlwise since it feels all 25 years of its life. But once you get used to it, it all flows.

They are two different experiences, yeah. Classic is more in depth with the A/B scenarios and plotlines, Remake is more streamlined and fluid overall.

Both are worth playing though.

The RE CG movies are all horrendous and this looks like the worst one yet

I actually think Degeneration and Damnation are great Resident Evil movies. Vendetta was trash in terms of tone and story but had fun sequences I still remember fondly. Infinite Darkness was a waste of time.

Honestly I'm definitely not one to judge, since before RE2 Remake (and honestly even including that to an extent), RE4 was simultaneously the only RE game I cared about in the slightest and also one of my favorite games of all time.

So what most people would consider normal RE aesthetic and plot beats were always totally out of whack for me compared to my Leon one-liner cheesefest. As a result, these movies do nothing for me, and particularly the portrayal of Leon in them as this dark brooding dude who barely talked made me suffer.

Similarly, I liker all the Wesker scenes in RE5 for being dumb as hell even though nothing else in the game landed for me (being built around co-op did irreversible damage to it IMO, if they do remake it they should really not now that critical to the experience).

If you're into it, there's also HD Mods for both the original RE2 and RE3 which look great. They've even upscaled the FMVs.

that's what i'd recommend. i do think if you want something like REmake you'd be better off playing original re2, anyway. and then you'll appreciate what the remake did with it more.

I'm definitely interested! I'm OK with some controller jank I think as long as long as the game is good -- and from everything I've heard about it, RE2 is truly worth putting up with janky shit because it's the Survival Horror GOAT. I think imma do a Chris Hard mode run for REMake and try and finish it in under 5 hours to unlock the Samurai Edge, then try for RE2 OG. Anything I should know in advance to make the routing easier?

idk not really, based on what you said about re1 if you want to avoid going the "wrong" way at the start then i think you should go west not east from what i recall. beyond that it shouldn't matter.

It's mostly preference. I'm only really familiar with Seamless Project. HD Mod uses similar techniques and looks better in areas, but also is a bit too aggressive with the AI upscaling in places.

Just finished my pro s+ run in 4 hours 59m 59s. Ended up collecting all the spinel requests in the village and then unlocking the hand cannon at the castle with the ticket. Anyone going for the plat i'd recommend getting the HC from the mercs mode and then doing what i did. Soon as you get through the village it's all downhill for the most part. You get all the special accessories that way.

Oh, you can use the handcannon and get S+ on professional? I thought you couldnt use bonus weapons for the s+
