That final shooting range challenge defeated me. Wanted to try getting 5* on it but the sniper lags when zoomed in on PS4 making it a nightmare.

I'm confused. S+ is needed only for the hand cannon unlock correct? I can use bonus weapons and still get S+?

And as far as I can see, you can unlock the handcannon through mercs again like the OG, so I don't have to even need to attempt a S+ run without bonus weapons now?

Also is infinite Rocket launcher only locked to NG+ files?

Handcannon only needs an NG Professional playthrough without using bonus weapons. Rank doesn't matter

I haven't looked a mercs unlocks yet if you're telling me handcannon is unlocked in the main game through that maybe I'll go that route instead.

Sounds like its easier to S rank Mercs than to do a NG Pro playthrough

The Krauser fight is annoying. I only have my main knife and it breaks half way through the running around bit. Unless you're actually meant to shoot him during that opening phase instead.

Even though Ive fully upgraded the Red9, I decided to buy the Blacktail to try it out and I think I like the feel of it a lot more?

I'm favouring blacktail too.

I'm useless at Mercenaries so will def do Professional...plus I relish the challenge

Mercs is fun! Happy it's faithful to the OG RE4 Mercenaries mode. Always enjoyed it because of the simplicity of it all.

And yes, getting S rank is hilariously easy. Way easier than the original.

I never used the knife at all in the real Krauser fight, other than counters.

I'm confused about the elevator achievement; I definitely got to the top without slowing down. Or do I have to get to the top without any enemy even landing on it?

Didn't play during the week, caught up a bit tonight and got to chapter 9.

Ashley is loads better in this, the whole separation with Leon is done waaaaay better than in original Re4 which just made her seem like a brat after she had already been doing alright with Leon before. Here you can actually understand how freaked out she would be about what's happening with her. Also the water room seemed easier in this version, feels like not as many enemies showed up and not having to go into that one room where you stand on the platforms with Ashley potentially helps. I am only on Standard right now so it might be just as hard or harder than original on higher difficulties I suppose.

You can leave the water room at any time to save before the final section, so it's way easier on that merit alone.

Any time a single enemy lands on the elevator it stops. So yes, do not let a single enemy land on it. If one does, just reload your autosave

Yeah i gave up and just shot him in the end.

Just realised i completely missed a quest after the wrecking ball bit. Luckily i had a save just before Krauser so i'll have to redo that fight.

Couldn't you do that in the original? The water room doors never locked, and respawns were pretty limited (if they occurred at all).

Also, I'm reiterating the opinion that unlocking the Handcannon through Mercs is a joke. I got the S ranking on my second or third attempt on each stage with Leon.

In the original, I only ever touched the Handcannon in the Wii version, which I still think may have had the best utilization of Wiimote controls ever.

The DLC tickets can be sold for in game money, so technically you can lay for cash.

$10 real gets you 400k in game.

Finally finished it. Overall they did an amazing job. Kinda glad they removed the U3 fight as i was never really a fan of it anyway. It basically just felt like another Verdugo fight and the game worked well without it. Other than that the only other major cut from the island was the driving bit with Ashley. That was a take it or leave it section but again they worked around it perfectly.

As for a few story changes it seems like Krauser wasn't working for Wesker in this one. I don't think we ever find out what happens to the other one of Salazar's helpers. In the original it gets morphed into his boss fight. Maybe Ada will fight it in her DLC?

I think there's a note that explains that Salazar's other 'hand' is U-3 (although, I think both of them are technically U-3 and the names Verdugo and Pesanta are just to differentiate), so yeah, weird for them to mention it and not fight it, so it showing up in Separate Ways sounds reasonable.

Oh nice thanks for the info. If they add a lot of this stuff into Ada's section it's gonna be pretty challenging.

Has anyone attempted/beaten professional mode (without special weapons) yet?

I'm close! Just reached 14 on the island.

How difficult have you found it? I'm assuming you have to pick and choose a which battles to fight and which to run past to conserve ammo? I've never been good at that considering the lower difficulties encourage you to blast through enemies

I'm only now getting a real feel for it having reached the island, since obviously having New Game + makes the earlier areas much easier.

Ammo is a pretty real concern, but it doesn't feel like you HAVE to skip enemies? It's more that if you play perfectly there should be just enough ammo. If you're sloppy it's going to tank you. Definitely avoid fighting Regenerators when possible though, and probably any optional bosses.

The hardest part of regular gameplay is the perfect parries, since you can't just spam L1 like in other difficulties. You really don't want to take those hits, honestly kiting is going to be preferred a lot of the time until you've really got it down.

The only part of Professional that is bullshit are the gimmick sections, they're pretty much terrible top to bottom.

The 2 Krauser fights must be hell on Pro mode. For the rest of it i'd probably rush through with a shotgun to clear a path.

So Krauser 1 isn't actually that hard because he's not any more aggressive or anything, and if you just spam the quick knife jab he actually goes down really fast!
