It's possible, but I'll declare at once that I don't remember making this topic, and it was spurred on by YouTube recommending me weirdo Tetris theme remixes for some reason.

Even if you ban 1-1 I dont think Tetris is top five over like, the PAC Man theme, 1-2, Pokmon theme, or a few others out there. Maybe not even too 10 anymore

Yeah, the Tetris theme isn't as iconic as it used to be because the game isn't as ubiquitous anymore. Some form of 1-1 appears in most Mario games, so it stays alive that way.

Why Alex Kidd?
Well... In Australia, the Sega Master System was more popular than the Nintendo.
And the game was built-in to the system. No cartridge inserted...? You get Alex.
So if you didn't blow out the dust enough of Sonic or Wonder Boy, you'll soon know about it.
The Alex Kidd music starts. (And frustration kicks in).

Bubble Bobble (Multi)
It just repeats again and again the entire game. (In a good way, I like it!)
If you asked someone to hum it... maybe they could?
I mean... you guys that played this game back in the day... can you hum it now?

Street Fighter II - Guile's Theme (Multi)
So recognisable. And Guile's Theme goes with anything.

Final Fantasy VII - Fanfare (PSX)
Maybe?

Daytona USA - Main Theme (Arcade)
Anyone who ever stepped foot into an arcade in the 90s would know this instantly recognisable and catchy tune.

I don't know... I just wanted to bring something else to the table that's not 1-1.

Yeah... I totally get that. I think only Brazil and Australia really warmed to the Master System.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World, I think, is getting remastered as we speak, like Ghouls N Ghosts.

Bubble Bobble is a fantastic game that has aged beautifully. Especially fun with 2 player co-op.
There's been many re-releases on next gen consoles.
I highly recommend checking it out. Is it really that unknown?? It's so good!

I imagine you can list a bunch of first levels or areas from well known games and more than likely it would be recognized but for sure 1-1 is the cream of the crop.

Oh lol I'm not even the first to mention that.

I do think the Pac-Man theme is the only other thing I'd put in even the same breath. MAYBE the Zelda theme, but I don't really know if that's on the same level. I think the A theme from Tetris GB is somewhere up there but not really on the same level of cultural penetration as any of the others - I think people would have a ping of recognition if you referenced the theme alongside a reference to Tetris, but that's about it.

I can't think of anything worth mentioning in the same sentence, honestly. I do not expect a layman to recognize any themes from Pokemon - I think they are well known, but not on the level of 1-1 where that's just cultural shorthand for Mario even to non-gamers. Same goes for anything else I can think of.

The thing that's fucking buck wild about the 10's is that I think it might be either Megalovania or the Angry Birds theme.

Wow, fuck me, Angry Birds came out in December 11, 2009

Minecraft has the same problem, although I'd still probably count it for the 10's
