i think my biggest hole in the matchup is the edgeguarding. more often than not im just letting peach have the ledge for free and taking it from there cuz shes trash off the ledge anyway but i let way too many stocks go on way too long

It's hard to edgeguard peach directly since in most situations she'll be coming in from below with Umbrella if she can't make it back for free with float, and it's really, really hard to beat Umbrella with your Dair. I think it's theoretically possible sometimes but those situations are few and far between. Generally it's more about punishing Peaches ledge options because as you said, they are probably the worst of any top tier. Cam (the falco I linked above) is generally pretty good at that so maybe you could try and see how he goes about it. If I had to generalize, from your perspective it boils down to lots of safe bairs and trying to force me to make a bad play, while not overcommiting yourself. Peach is slow and can't escape the ledge easily, and has no direct answer to Falco's bair (Does anyone? Lol). So start with that as your base and work from there

had this one happen to me tonight. I had no business beating this Dedede yet both of those kills somehow happened. Was definitely not expecting to win since I only play smash these days whenever a new character comes out and I did all of the Min Min stuff tonight then I usually go into the tourney mode and do a few matches with Kirby.

I didn't think the Zero allegations were that serious, and the accusers were even saying they didn't want him cancelled, they just wanted this kind of behaviour to be talked about.

But his responses make me not trust him at all. It's trickle truthing - he's making statements to fit the current facts he thinks people know about him instead of being upfront and honest about everything.

I expect there'll be more Zero reveals to come tbh.

honestly I think this is more a part of "con-culture" (i.e. conventions) than it is strictly related to the smash community.

anime cons, comic-cons, vg cons are all breeding grounds for predators. you take a traditionally marginalized subgroup of people - many of whom with difficulties in "normal social life," and give them a weekend of free reign where they're guaranteed to be around people with similar interests and it's a recipe for disaster.

I've hung out with a lot of "nerds" in my life - gaming, comics, anime, even creative writers - and the second con-season comes around a switch gets flipped and they become uber aggressive and sexual. the stories I could tell about dragon con parties I went to in my teens.

not defending these people in any way, but trying to argue that there's something poisonous in the smash community is not quite right. It's a larger issue in geek fandom to be honest.

Yeah the unregulated hotel environment contributes a lot. I was actually expecting for the GDQ scene to have a reckoning like this too by now but so far that hasnt happened

I'm actually quite surprised (in the best way possible) that nothing has come out for the GDQ/speedrunning community.

I'm chalking it up to the fact that, aside from GDQ, the vast majority of it is very decentralized and over the internet (As opposed to e.g Smash/esports meeting up in person for tournaments), but it's a good thing regardless.

May be cynical, but sexual predators are still sexual predators when they don't have the unregulated environment and easy access to prey, not to mention the power of fame or notoriety, and while these events absolutely need to better protect people from predators, the real issue is that a lot of people are sexual predators, and people who want the power to do these kinds of things gravitate towards circumstances that help them do so. Social media creates a lot of mini celebrities, and power allows people to be their true self, and it isn't always pretty.

GDQ will be "cancelled" closer to SGDQ, and my money is on Mike Uyama. If not him, I'm guessing at least 3 runners will be pulled because of Twit longer dumps

As a side note, it's not surprising in the least that the Melee nuthuggers ended up having so many perverts in their ranks

I don't think this is cynical, I think it's naive. I think most potential predators are people who think to themselves they would never be a sexual predator until the right circumstances come along.

Or in a more abstract way, power corrupts people (or reveals their true nature, but that's just semantics). There are examples of very "corrupt" people that go after power intentionally, but I don't think it's the norm.

Let's just say that showing hentai on a big screen is not new perv tech that Zero labbed up.

My first dragon-con I was 17, and it wasn't as huge as it is now. Basically me and my friends (altogether 2 guys and 2 girls) stumbled from hotel room to hotel room drinking sketchy cocktails from neckbeards. People who run parties essentially are Girls Gone Wilding all over the place: asking girls to flash/kiss them for drinks. Widespread use of ecstasy, acid, molly, coke, weed. Of course we loved it at the time, but we were idiots: we were lucky. There are lots of stories out there of roofied drinks and certain parties to "avoid."

But thinking back it was super messed up that there were literally 16 year olds getting hit on by 30 year olds in that kind of environment. I mean there are literally lolita parties at some of these cons (maybe not Dragon Con, but Anime Atlanta had one for sure). Some of the worst things i personally witnessed were dudes taking pics with passed out girls while touching them, dudes flashing people, and multiple fights.

The girls I was with that night and those I talked to in following years (I haven't gone in five years or more, and I pretty much quit going to parties a few years before that) have told me specific instances of grooming/sexual aggression from pseudo-famous people at these parties, but I'm not going to share them as they're not my stories.

For many who go to cons/vg tourneys, "getting laid" is as much a part of the experience as anything else. Take people who have been social outcasts their whole lives who suddenly achieve a small level of "fame," add young people and alcohol, and you have the recipe for assault.

Looking at the Cinnpie incident in particular... holy shit that kid looks like a preteen. At the age Puppeh was(Fucking 14, holy shit)... I don't think I would have said anything about it either then and there, and that's how people like her get away with shit like this.

Like fuck man a lot of kids are so emotionally vulnerable at that age. Girls are mostly taught that a grown ass man trying to have sex with you at such a young age is a bad thing, and correctly so. The reverse? Scenarios like that are built up as a fucking fantasy, and it really shouldn't be. 14, what the fuck...

The other instances discussed in the thread are no less deplorable of course. Those two really hit close for me though...

Seeing Badger's name on it legit surprises me a bit. Dude struck me as one of the most genuinely positive people around. He says he has the receipts in his favor and is lawyering up, but I don't have the time right now to go through that and see what the details are or if there's actually reasonably disputing the allegations against him.

Everybody else on the list I either know nothing about, or I'm not actually surprised (Not in the sense that I "expected" it from them, but more that there was no particular reason or things I knew/thought about them to make it surprising)

Witwix is one of more popular streamers in the speedrun community. His streams usually get like 8K to 10K viewers which is HUGE for a speedrunner.
