honestly I think this is more a part of "con-culture" (i.e. conventions) than it is strictly related to the smash community.

anime cons, comic-cons, vg cons are all breeding grounds for predators. you take a traditionally marginalized subgroup of people - many of whom with difficulties in "normal social life," and give them a weekend of free reign where they're guaranteed to be around people with similar interests and it's a recipe for disaster.

I've hung out with a lot of "nerds" in my life - gaming, comics, anime, even creative writers - and the second con-season comes around a switch gets flipped and they become uber aggressive and sexual. the stories I could tell about dragon con parties I went to in my teens.

not defending these people in any way, but trying to argue that there's something poisonous in the smash community is not quite right. It's a larger issue in geek fandom to be honest.

You got me curious. How bad did they get? I won't force you if you don't wanna tell though.
