Militarily? USA.

Political influence? USA.

Economic power? Probably still the USA

If it's a question of who's second, that's a little harder. The frontrunners would probably be Germany, China, and Russia. Germany has a strong economy and influence within the EU (while its military is on the weaker side, the EU is structured in a way that makes it less of an issue than it might be for other nations). China has the world's largest economy, one of the strongest militaries, and considerable influence within its region. Russia has probably the world's second-strongest military as well as having enough power and influence that NATO is a thing.

As for the other options listed:

-France is a little hard to judge, although it falls behind many other options so it's not really in the running.

-The UK is small and, even before Brexit, it had less influence in Europe than Germany.

-Japan has a relatively limited self-defense military. The nation has repeatedly protested reestablishing its military.

-Canada's military is relatively weak for a G8 nation and its economy is behind other options

-Australia iirc doesn't rank among the world's top economies and it's not a contender for having the strongest military.

-Israel is a wealthy nation, but it's a relatively small nation and has limited influence due to the EU's support for antisemitic policies. The fact that Jerusalem isn't universally recognized as the capital of Israel shows its lack of influence.

-India has one of the world's largest economies and a reasonably strong military. However, in many regards it's inferior to China because it's exerting influence in the same sphere, has a weaker military, etc.

Canada is a failed experiment ready to be sold to the highest bidder.

BC, AB, and Sask will be sold to the US, after Vancouver gets occupied by China.

Quebec will be sold off to France, because who cares about the French anyways...

Manitoba will be Ontario's "D.U.F.F"....while Ontario itself can still pretend Canada exists, and nothing is wrong.

Alaska will absorb the Yukon...and the NWT will be given back to the natives to be the nation they always wanted anyways.

How is that nice? The US wastes vasts amounts on the military and they use it to buy up whatever shit shows up. It uses power as a substitute for being a respectable nation, and only got there by exploiting a global atrocity then spending the next 70 years pillaging 3rd world nations (inefficiently). Can't beat Vietnam, can't beat Iran, just sits on nukes they're not allowed to use to restrict retaliation (poorly).

The tariff war has driven a considerable amount of the US's manufacturing needs to surrounding nations and, in general, China's economy largely revolves around producing things for other nations which (while typical of developing nations) makes it more vulnerable that those of developed nations.

What? Right now they're relying on US military, which has bases throughout Japan. And back when Japan was active militarily, they spent far more time attacking than defending.

Japan was decimated by the US at the end of WWII and cowed into submission. Because Japan was largely removed from armed conflict after that time (when the US became its primary protector) and, because it's been removed for so long, the idea of fully rearming is unpopular. (Granted, people will point to other cultural trends as well, but that's kind of a sub-discussion.)

What? If you're claiming they "exploited" WWII, it's a claim that doesn't make any sense. The US was in a better state at the end of the war because the battles had largely taken place in other nations. They benefited from the rest of the world having hardship, but there was nothing to "exploit"

As for its involvement in the third-world, it paled in comparison to the activities *prior* to WWII. I'm not sure what you consider "inefficiencies" although I suspect you consider overt colonialism an "efficiency" and are knocking the US for not just conquering the nations then looting them.

Although your point is very poorly phrased, I'm assuming it refers to China's number of troops. The problem there is that ground troops haven't won wars since... well, it's been quite a while.

The US forced them into the situation theyre in now by testing bombs and flexing. The US did the same to Germany. Why Italy was left alone I have no idea. I guess without Germany and Japan, Italy doesnt offer much. Japan is more than capable of defending itself. And the US basically does the same thing in the way of attacking.
