Ok, so for reference the HP restorate ring maxes activation threshold at level 11 (100%) and then the levels after that reduce the activation time. If it keeps up this way it'll restore 5% every 1 second at 20 which sounds broken. I need like 18 more rocks to get it there. Perhaps it'll increase amount instead of interval at some point.

it's one of the main reasons why xx/su as a subclass works out to be near as tanky as hunter (but with higher multipliers and also applies to tech damage)

When you put skills on units, can you stack the same one? Can I have summoner, a healing ring, and 3 units all with the healing skill giving me 37.5% per 5?

nope for multiple reasons

1) that rings specifically excludes summoner (no class can equip their own ability ring)
2) multiple rings of the same type don't stack
3) even if they did, you can't put R rings on units, only L rings (L rings are generally utility btw, R rings can actually have an increase in power so even if you could you'd stack perfect keepers whenever those come out)

starting with 14* weapons you can start shoving cool abilities onto your weapons, at least

has recovery stuff like "Recover 40% of your maximum HP every 40s", "Recover 75% of your maximum HP every 40s.", "Successfully performing a Just Guard while below 25% HP recovers 50% HP and 30% PP.", along with various damage taken down stuff (the best ones are all power modifiers, but that will be what everyone wants so they'll be more expensive anyways)

also, probably the best one depending on how rapidly your class hits: "Restore HP equal to 1% of Damage dealt (30 HP MAX)."

with some weapons like machineguns, any phantom weapon, or double saber, you could literally just ignore being attacked by a boss and keep slapping, recovering your HP to full in a second

keep in mind most of the bosses we're fighting now were designed from a time when the level cap in pso2 was like 40-50

boss fights are the best part of this game and there are many on a very large rotation

I woke up went to get on, maintenance immediately. Feelsbad but works out. New line of AC items means I could get a decent outfit for less than 35mil and I snagged selvaria swimwear in black for cheap. I also did my first XH luther which was so easy. SH is definitely glitched.

I think I got like 45 excubes in the 30 minutes and then 10 or so 10* to convert and 9 rising weapon 2 badges. I managed to get my brissa set with badges and grind it to +10. I'm tanky as hell now.

The game seems to have stopped working for me. It worked last night after the update finished installing, and then my computer updated overnight, and now clicking the start menu shortcut does nothing. Where does the .exe hide? I'll try accessing it directly that way, then I guess I might have to try reinstalling.

Looks like the permissions for the WindowsApps folder may have been modified by the update. The Mutable folder doesn't seem to be there at all, which seems weird, and any attempt to modify or access the files in the game's folder is giving me an access error. I've changed myself to be the file's owner (which really shouldn't be a thing, but Windows 10), but there are still permission entries that don't have write access and are giving me an "Access Control Entry Corrupted" error that is preventing me from modifying them. What a fun time this is.

Are you using tweaker? If you can find the install and point tweaker to it, it might fix that.

I'm not, but this is very much tempting me to. I'm currently waiting for the "Reset" option to complete, which will likely include a reinstall. If that fails (and potentially even if it succeeds, since I'd prefer to avoid a repeat of this), I'll look into Tweaker.

Yeah I had annoying permissions issues, couldn't delete the chat filter file and a lot of other issues with lag and stuff. Installed tweaker, pointed it to the install, took like 30 seconds and it was all fixed.

tweaker people have been making pso2 playable for so long now

the existing NA fanbase before the actual NA version would have been microscopic without them (seriously- after about two yearo, the JP version was almost indistinguishable from what we have here, with better QA), and they are putting in a lot of work making release NA smooth too

The reset process seems to have run into some files it couldn't delete without elevation, but the launcher ran when I clicked on the shortcut and is now updating itself. That's a step in the right direction, at least. Tweaker will be my first stop the next time I run into a problem, though, since apparently multi-billion dollar software companies are less capable of making functional games than a handful of amateur fans.

Based on how long this "update" is taking and the fact that the used space on this drive has increased by 30-odd GB since it started, I'm going to guess I'm just redownloading the entire game and I've got me some ghost files now. Sweet. Fortunately, there's nothing else on this drive, so I can take the nuclear option and reformat it completely if I have further problems.

good news is that at least from now on you'll never have phantom files problems as long as you always launch via tweaker

I'm kind of inclined not to use tweaker just yet simply so that I do end up with further problems and can justify nuking the drive, but I also recognize that that's kind of silly. I'll see what my options are as far as murdering the phantom files goes.

i apparently don't have ownership rights over my old hdds by default and also a lot of my ssd files until i set them that way despite being administrator???

Yeah, the degree to which you have to fight to take back any semblance of control over your own computer really is a major problem with 10. Like, I get that it's going to be fine for the facebook/email/netflix crowd and limiting what people can screw up cuts down on how much money Microsoft has to spend on support staff, but it's such a colossal step backwards for more in-depth manipulation and I don't understand how they can be so completely clueless about how the rest of us want to use our computers.

You sure beat the game fast. I killed magatsu (we didnt get the gold one) on XH and also hit 75 and did some more ult nav and got nothing.

I'm am just completely invincible though so it kinda feels like why bother farming when i can already beat everything.

killing fast is the real test of skill in pso2, not dying slow. a well-equipped and skillful player can output more damage than the rest of their pug combined

whenever they get around to adding it, expert matching requirements necessitates relatively efficient dps in order to S rank the quests it asks for. but when you do clear it, you finally aren't matched with people with level 1 subjobs and 11* weapons anymore (....for the most part), because everyone else also had to care about the game enough to beat it

doing solo-urgent quest triggers also was a super good way of making money/farming excubes if you could clear them relatively fast

also this is just the beginning, i haven't beaten anything. none of my units are particularly affixed, my weapon is a pile of random affixes, and i still haven't become good enough to efficiently utilize all of my elements

I did an advanced quest but I forgot to set it to solo (if you even can) and someone with ranged weapons (Think it was a ranger) joined.

This was frustrating as heck. My lightning spell (thanks for the suggestion I totally maxed the skills for it and it destroys everything) ROCKS...but it takes time to charge and before I can charge, this other dude would just destroy everything with his gun. It wasn't very fun. Got a decent amount of loot though.

Didn't log in yesterday at all, but I will later today. Exp to level has certainly jumped a ton though (almost 50 now). Also running out of skills to boost for both of my classes (main and sub) and leveling up is much slower so only get a few points (finished off maxing the bonus charge damage skills on my force.....running out of good options other than just another element).

Also done all the current bosses I think.....and I know...this may sound weird, but I found the bosses more of a challenge in the first game. Even as a force I pretty much don't die, except against looser falz (where he one shots me). My lightning btw one shots almost all normal enemies even when I'm doing an advanced quest that is 10 levels higher then me.

I'm sure I'm MISSING out on a ton of stuff that I should do to upgrade etc, but it doesn't seem needed yet. Perhaps eventually I could get my damage high enough to take out enemies without charging? Then I could compete against gun people who just shoot and kill everything. Still have not gotten any of the better weapons either (the ones you buy with badges) although I did get much better ones from fighting VH urgent quests etc.

i always lock onto whoever i intend to fire my lightning at, while running in the direction of another enemy so that if my locked on target dies i'll fire at the other one

lock on in general is very nice for "finding" enemies, because you only need to find one to kill 2-3 other nearby enemies

changing the map to be more zoomed in also helps, you can face a general direction where enemies are, stop moving, and fire and it'll aim at an enemy in front of where you're facing

other than SH difficulty weirdness, we are in a WAY more powercrept state than we used to be (stuff like only bouncer could double jump at first!). so yeah, everything will be pretty easy for now. things will get harder and we'll get even more tools (when tech crafting comes out, we can get Nabarta type-0 to block and gigrants type 0 for massive persistent aoe) around episode 4 and 5

episode 4 is confirmed for early august btw

you actually do not need to worry about gearing (outside of your weapon) at all until SH, and affixes/units at XH. i certainly didn't and i'm progressing pretty optimally

do yourself a favor and buy a psycho wand from the marketboard whenver you can afford/equip it though, most 12* weapons are massively inferior to 13* but psycho wand (a rod) performs very close to the best rods that cost 20m (psycho rod costs 3m on my server). it drops from elder

Yeah but i'll never care about killing fast. It really disappoints me that when this game is "hard" so far it means you have to deal a lotta damage fast or you run out of time and has nothing to do with whether or not you can survive and ultimately take down a difficult boss.

I know, I know, we barely have anything and its all easy mode now. I just have no idea when to expect stuff that is difficult to stay alive during, not that is about making big numbers appear. Ult quests have so far been quite a let down. Magatsu phase 1 is as boring as the similar MH fights like shen and lao. Magatsu 2 was kinda fun but it was my first time in an AIS.

timing out is never the issue (.......except this broken SH loser shit going on in na right now)

getting more runs in or higher rewards is usually the goal; buster quests in episode 5 reward more based on how well you do (and the difficulty+rewards scale up based on the experience of all MPA members involved), and armada quests in episode 6 apply more rare drop rate to the final fight the more times you can clear the first fights

outright failure is usually not even a possibility because the game is so casual friendly, even on the hardest difficulties

(well.... outright failure is definitely a gigantic possibility in base defense missions always, but not bosses i mean)

the fight really isn't the same experience now as it was before, with no magatsu ever breaching the first wall when there are three gates (and different music themes for each gate approach you'll never hear!). there were some more emergency trials too i think, like adds spawning in to rush the gate near the bottom

it was so grueling that people would just straight up leave the MPA if there wasn't a ranger in the group, because old weak bullet would make you do 2.55x damage. everyone had to coordinate around the ranger's WB targetting or you might not even get a second run in

Timed out on killing gold magatsu. Still beat the quest but only got the 2/3.

Some of the people I'm playing with are having the same issue finding motivation to grind ult quests when theres nothing that remotely needs a nemesis/slave except "just you wait, it'll be harder, its just not in yet".

This is really the problem for me I guess. The combat system is fun, some of the boss movesets are great, but it just feels completely wasted because theres no reason to improve because you basically can't fail.

I'm not sure this would change my issue. In MH some of those fights are super hard but it still amounts to mashing the attack button on a target that barely acknowledges your existence.

i don't think 75/75 hardcore content is a concern yet

if you don't feel like grinding out ult, don't do it, you literally don't have to. the game is meant to be enjoyed in short chunks and you shouldn't burn yourself out this early

I had one of these collecting dust for the last year, only bought it for Virtua Racing multiplayer on Switch, but since it only does local multiplayer with split joycons, I never needed it. But I can use it with a PS4 controller wirelessly and it will let Windows believe it is a 360 controller, no software needed.
