Cool, thanks Ages, I have been feeding my mag monomates and it boosts both melee damage and defense. I'll try and find something that just boosts damage then.only gone up like 2 points so far so no biggie.

Yeah I actually don't mind the bow so much, it does do decent damage and from range....I could totally have that as a backup ranged attack. I feel like it's gonna take me a week just to get started with this game, and figure out the very basics, especially if I try everything out, which I probably will.

Not complaining though, that is freaking awesome.

I'm getting kinda bored in the game. I'm too powerful for where I am. I oneshot normal mobs with one thriving bellflower (which is like a 40 foot AoE around me) and bosses melt. I'm doing the stuff I have on hard but it's all still made of paper. I even ended up getting an even better katana. I'm also tanky enough that if I don't miss the floor tech (whatever it's called, reversal i think) I regen more health than the attack actually did.

alternate between feeding them monomates and melee weapons, they cancel each other out but give melee power in the end

slightly faster way is just feeding them specific furniture rarities that gives melee power

Do crafted weapons still exist? I remember way back when that was the optimal early progression before you could get 9* weapons cause they had like 1k attack even though their lower damage limit was 40% instead of 70%. That's still an average of 700 attack though. It seems like enhancing might have replaced that whole system though which would be nice.

you can also install skills onto them, like 10-15s of invulnerability whenever you get full PB, or healing via certain triggers. eventually you can increase the number of skill slots to like 10, too

and you can change their photon blast; by far the best two are ketos proi (pp regen field for you and nearby allies; also recharges REALLY fast) and julius nifta (persistent suction effect for grouping up enemy mobs)

I'm just blasting through the expiditions on hard. I think I got too lucky with a mining defense EQ cause now with some 9* armor I frequently take 1 damage from enemies 15 levels higher than me and of course I regen like 130 hp whenever I reversal and I finally got automate halfline and iron will and stalwart although i have yet to get low enough to activate it. I'm not even playing well. I'm just face tanking the boss while spamming PAs in it's face and the fights last like literally less than 10 seconds unless I get juggled (in which I gain hp).

I don't remember it being this easy before. I killed one of the bosses in like 4 seconds with a couple counters that all did obscene damage. I don't even have any stances yet. I need to unlock very hard already. I'm up to level 29/16 Br/Hu. Maybe I should solo but I'm pretty sure I'm the one doing most of the work and it's nice to be able to afk and be protected.

Technically the way it was designed for you to get them is through the feeding process, but theres items you can get to just change it after the fact that render that pointless considering you'd have to ruin the things stats to get them which is far more important than the abilities.

You could just make a new xbox live account. You don't need gold for PC play.

Also, got to level 33/19. Still bored. Took a break cause of illness. I've lost a pound from playing this game for like 8 hours. Ugh.

Did a few EQs but the parties are even more unbalanced than I remember. Most fights last like 15 seconds. Specifically did dark falz arms and dark falz elder. Both quite easy but probably because they lasted all of 15 seconds. The amount of systems to deal with is kind of overwhelming. Every time I play a mission I've got like arks missions, daily missions, titles, gathering acheivements, client orders, bingo, levels and more to deal with. I'll probably try to grind to 40 later and see if super hard is where it's at.

well the difficulty is certainly there for me. Normal enemies are fine, but I just died like 6 times to the stage 2 mission with all the sub quests added. There was like 3 boss fights along the way (2 before the dragon). I died mostly due to trying to kill the first one with melee (my whip which I love for normal fighting) but yeah, that was just deadly, so I switched to gunblade + range and took him out (died like 4 times). I didn't die to the second boss (turtle guy) at all, but the last boss the Dragon (Boss of the area) killed me once even using the gun blade (just got unlucky).

I have not used any skill points yet though because I want to know which tree/class I am going to main before investing skill points. I'm not sure if I wanna main hunter or Braver on this character yet. Since it looks like solo range may be....a very good idea.....and whip doesn't really have a great use vs bosses it seems, braver might be smarter long term (even if I love the whip the most) which meand I need the skill points for that instead of hunter probably.

I have not upgraded my weapons with grinders etc yet and still just have basic ones so that is probably part of the problem as well. Thing is I destroy normal enemies easy, and that was the first time I fought ANY of those bosses (including the dragon was the first time I just did a straight up main area 2 quest and added all the sub quests) so I didn't even know I was weak at this point.

Oh well gonna see what I can do to improve myself. Wish my other chars would delete so I could make my ranger character.

I do have a question, you can get 3 mags for free, can you switch them between characters? If so, I could start building up the other classes on my current character and then just upgrade the other mags for the other classes. The race doesn't matter much, so it's mainly the skills and mags that are important. The skill issue could still be a problem though if I put all my skills into hunter/braver, I won't have the skill points I need for force/tech etc.

Yo, skill points are separate per class. You can't use a hunter skill point on braver even if you wanted to.

Also I looked it up and you can't transfer mags, so....if I want a tech mag and a ranged mag, i'll have to do that on other characters.....but....since I can use skills for each class, initially the mag isn't going to be that important (This'll be my melee mag), so I can test out the other stuff at least till the other characters get unlocked in two days.

Yeah upon looking it up, you can't reset your skill trees right now. They do apparently give out free resets fairly often and you can pay money to buy another tree but yeah, it's not something you can just play around with for no explainable reason.

nope! you can mass send stuff to storage from mid-mission so it's doable but it's still super obnoxious

lock all the gear you want to keep then mass select everything in the weapons and units tab and send them to storage. i think it's via holding down shift on pc? i have it bound to holding down r2 on controller

That's lame but your work around sounds decent. My issue isn't even really equips though cause I just don't pick any gear thats not better than what I have. It's mostly just random shit. I also do some gathering cause I want skill rings but for some reason that doesn't get like a separate gathering bag or anything so it just quickly consumes all your inventory slots. Even just having 70 or so would be a massive difference over 50.

Maybe you guys can help me. I'm a bit frustrated here. I've been trying to do Risa's "It's time to take a trip to the volcanic caves" order. It states a ranger must do it and only with Risa in the party. I did the whole thing 3 times and it never finished, I guess because Risa was not with me.

Except I can't figure out how to get her to join me. I got rid of all other orders. I took the exploration quest for the volcanic caves, i'm totally out of ideas and it's very frustrating. Gonna crash and pick it back up tomorrow.

That being said, while I was really enjoying the hunter, I'm probably going to start over fresh with a ranger focused character because jesus is the machine gun (I got a rare one so that helps but even before that) powerful vs bosses, it's easy to dodge everything cause you can keep moving while firing, and the damage is seriously insane. I still like launcher for alot of the other stuff, but once I got the rare machine gun (like 400 power or so), everything melts so far, andI can just run through em while shooting em lol.

Hence why i'm trying to do Risa's quests (unlike some of the others she doesn't have any second tier quests for the ranger weapons but instead wanted me to do this ANNOYING quest where I explore the volcanic caves with her.

Except she's always a no show!! GRRRR.

Anyway had alot of fun, though I'm a bit tired fo the volcanic caves and ready to move from them now lolz.

More playing tomorrow. Wish the chars would hurry up and get deleted but I just actually started the process earlier today, so it's probably gonna be a bit longer before they go poof. My mag is at like 30 melee already, so I don't wanna just switch to boosting range on this guy. And since i'll create the other two on the same ship, I can send all the coolie items etc I have gotten over to them (or probably just my ranger based char).

Stats really don't seem to make a big diff honestly, but i'll probably go female cast again just to max potential for ranged, while having more hp than beasts.

As far as skills the only ones I grabbed was the % based one for hitting enemies at range (10% bonus to damage for 5 points). I'm holding off on others for now....although probably getting the dodge ones will be a safe bet, I have not needed it yet.

Well I figured it out, there is another terminal in the area before you start a quest where you can have npcs join your party. I only noticed a random tip that told me about that......after all this time. So not fair. Really, they should freaking make things a bit easier to figure out. Oh well, at least I know now.

So played the first mission. Won't work with my PowerA Switch controller, so I just did the first mission with keyboard and mouse. My left hand is already in pain. -_-

I find this game easier than a lot to play on keyboard. A hand saver is to rebind the dodge action button to something easy to press (I use mouse 4) and disable double tap dodging. I also personally swapped interact to F since most MMOs are that way and bound weapon action (aka block for me) to E.

I had a bit more fun playing some more. Up to 38 now. Had the forest 1000 pt EQ going for a while and thats always pretty fun even if it's still too easy and everything dies in one second. I also think I unlocked very hard but it doesn't actually seem like I can accept very hard. I did the cofy order. Looking it up I saw for someone it took a while to take effect so maybe I just need to chill or do another mission and come back.

Also got a 9* katana that I think was the one I was using when I played before cause it looks like an ugly shield on your back. Snagged some more good armor as well so I'm ultra beefy. Hoping very hard makes the bosses a bit harder but it seems like I need super hard for many of the AI changes. Oh well, I'm flying through the leveling so it probably won't be too long till I hit 50. Also almost completed bingo card, just have the final order for purple flowers left which I have my aux doing.

I simply have joint issues with my left hand. Even with games that are just WASD + Space, I'm going to be slow at best. More complex games are just asking for pain. Gamepad is a lot easier for me, my left hand only needs the thumb (which is fortunately fine) and the index finger for shoulder buttons. Most actions are on the right hand, rather than the left with keyboard controls, so tends to be significantly less painful for extended play.

Anyway, plugged in one of my PS4 controllers, no luck there either. Only got my old wired 360 pad left to try now, and that has significant stick drift. -_-

Nah I get it. I was gonna use my PS4 controller but it didn't pick up right away (computer issue, not game issue) so I just stuck with keyboard. I'm surprised this game doesn't hurt me more. My joints and muscles are all messed up (well everything is). Most games hurt me pretty bad.

Does the game support them? I saw the key display for it, but plugging it in didn't help, still had nothing working with it instead of my Switch controller. And since I barely use the Switch controller for the intended system, I stick to that on PC. PS4 controllers are regularly used. :P

Figured out my very hard issue. For some reason they give you the order long before you are level 40 but you can't accept a very hard quest unless you are 40+ despite having the license. Considering the client order is just talk to cofy, I don't understand the point but whatever. I hit 40/24 and finished all 14 expiditions. That's probably it for me today. Hopefully very hard is the difficulty increase I was looking for.

Oh also did solo a mission just to see and yeah, I clearly have been doing most of the damage because everything still died very fast although the boss lasted like 45 seconds which was cool.

I've been looking at the various Gunner PA's to see what I should be trying to get, and it looks like they're all situationally useful and I should have all of them bound. That's all well and good, but I saw the suggestion of rebinding Weapon Action to RT because the basic dodge isn't particularly useful with Stylish Roll (which makes sense and I've done this) to allow me to put 6 PA's on my palette. If I do that, though, doesn't that leave me unable to do regular attacks for PP regen?

You definitely need regular attack. Better to just deal with 5 PAs and a regular attack. Not sure if you can bind PAs to the subpalette or not but that could be a workaround if so.

That's what I was thinking, although that may have been based on the JP version where the level 85 skill that turns S Roll into an attack is available (not sure if that allows it to generate PP/ramp up Chain Trigger). You can bind PA's to the subpalette, which is what I'm probably going to do. Well, that or make up different main palettes for different situations, since I won't always need all of them and the subpalette isn't the most accessible. I'll have to play around with it and see what happens.

It is supposed to use/be compatible with ps4, I saw a post on it. I'm using the wired xbox360 controller though. You could use yours even with drift for now, and then if you really like the game they are still pretty cheap to get used.

Going by that, it sounds like most arts have their uses, and that's been my experience so far (I'm still missing a few, namely the crucially important Grim Barrage), but I'm just puzzled as to how to interpret the advice given on how to lay them out. Now, I say this, but even though I'm 100% sure one of the posts in the reddit thread said something to the extent of "mapping Weapon Action to RT will give you six PA's on your palette," I can't seem to find said post and only see one saying 5. So maybe I'm just going insane.

I don't even think it takes money, I think it's from the place with the big red exclimation mark where you can access the auction house/store etc, but I don't remember for sure. I did see somewhere you could change looks etc, and it didn't seem to cost anything. You can buy new stuff to add, but I think the base looks you can change at will.

Ok very hard should just be normal difficulty. Enemies actually sometimes attack and they do ok damage and you have to hit them more than once. Bosses still die too fast but I could always solo I guess. Was also fun to fight some purple chick with dual blades (replica apprentice or something like that). She was pretty fun. It's still not exactly hard, but you have to actually play the game which is cool. I'm betting super hard will be pretty fun. Almost to level 43 now so only 7 more levels to go.
